TOPIC: Haven't even looked at nutrition guide ... doomed?

Haven't even looked at nutrition guide ... doomed? 2 years, 10 months ago #20112

I was a bit too excited. After getting p90x, I really didn't bother to read anything that came with it ... just skimmed through the manuals, and stored them..somewhere. I neglected the nutrition guide - by neglected, I mean, not even looked at.

Now I'm almost three weeks in, and wondering, does it matter? Note, that my diet IS healthy. Two quaint meals a day, consisting of chicken curry (family's bengali), rice, and various veggies. I drink water a bit less than recommended, but I'm not really worried about that.

Has anyone achieved results without adhering to the nutrition plan?

I can't answer your primary question because I haven't completed the program by any means, nor am I ignoring the nutrition plan.

I'd really recommend eatting more than two meals a day, the eatting guide highly recommends..if not demands that you eat five times a day. Three meals and two snacks, with the overall emphasis being 50 protein and only 30 carbs, with the left over 20 being fat. I'm not adhearing strictly to the guide, but I am trying to cut back on carbs and eat more protein, and eat more often. Also the water thing, if nothign else, I'd suggest packing on that water. Drink at least two liters a day is recommended, but I'm trying for three because like you I usually slack on water so I'm trying to get myself into the habit of drinking it constantly through out the day. As Tony says, the nutrition part is the hardest part but the most important.

Anyways, I hope you get a more informative answer based on your actual question soon. <3

Results are very dependant on the person.

The biggest factors of if you will see results are:

1. Do you adhere to the diet.
2. Do you have a lot to lose?
3. Do you bring it to the same level or higher each day?

Its pretty much in that order too. There are some side holes though that could apply to you.

If you go from a really terrible diet, not working out at all, sitting on the couch all day, and have a BF% of 40; then you eat a clean diet, workout, and start getting in shape? It doesn't matter what you do with your diet on the specifics level...you will see results.

Sorry if that didn't make sense, its late.

Point is, the more you have to lose, the larger the results you will see in a shorter amount of time. There is no way around that. If someone is already in shape and eats well, they won't see nearly the same level of results that an overweight person will. They will get in better shape than they were previously, but overall not to the degree of the other person.

So to answer your question: Yes, you can see results without paying attention to the diet. Will they be as good as if you did pay attention? No, they won't. Your results will also plateau much faster if you don't pay attention to the diet. However, as long as you are eating a clean diet (basically a low fat, healthy diet), you should be fine.
