TOPIC: Exercises you were never able to pull off smoothly

Exercises you were never able to pull off smoothly 2 years, 7 months ago #21025

...even after completing P90X.

Mine are:

- The Yoga X one legged stretches are still damn near impossible.

- Mason twists are easier, but ridiculous as ever.

- Pullups..

Didn't you just finish the first month in the other thread?

Heh, I would wait until you actually finish P90X to say what you can or can't do after 90 days....

I know when I started I thought the Mason Twists were really bad too. I am up to being able to do 40 straight, and conk out when they start the bonus ones.

Half Moon and Twisting Half moon aren't bad either in the end.

You will be surprised at what you can start doing once you get in the groove. Hell, even in Plyo I am able to do the Mary Katherine jump lunges now. I used to modify that to the point where it was barely even Plyo anymore! Now I don't really modify much at all.

I am at the end of week 2 in Phase 3...so..week 10? and the only thing that is really slow in progress is pullups. I am definately getting better at them, but it is VERY slow. Doing real ones are too hard, and doing chair assist, no matter how far you put the chair away, seem to be too easy to me. I think I need to goto the gym and get a lat pulldown bar or something to try and bridge the gap.

Try adding a 5lb weight to Mason Twists. That's fun.

I gotta say that Crane and Reverse Half Moon are the hardest in the entire program. Nothing beats looking towards the ceiling thinking, "Oh god, I'm falling up on the floor."

Any exercise which makes you stretch a lot is difficult. There are many poses in yoga which are really difficult.

haha...after day 1 and actually attempting to do the exercises i would say the vast majority. hopefully that will all be very different from now.
I knew my pullups would suck but I am amazed at how hard the dive bomb and decline pushups are! not a pretty sight at all

I agree the crane and the half moon are really difficult - one week I will be able to hold the crane for 30-40 seconds and the next week I can barely hold it for 5 seconds.

Also, clap/plyo pushups - finally on week 12 I was able to do like 4 clapping ones on my knees without falling on my face. And pullups, I can do ~2 reps of the more basic pullups for each set but I can't do any of the crazy ones like corn cobs yet.
