Those of us that have been around here a while have seen the dozens, no, hundreds of posts where someone is complaining that they don't like yoga, or kenpo, or pullups, or eating according to the plan, or whatever. It's almost like the poster is looking for permission to give up.

I don't want to sound mean, but get real folks! This is NOT EASY! This is EXTREME! If you want easy, go sit on the couch and eat chips!

If you want the results that are possible with P90X, you have to FOLLOW P90X! Not P78 1/2. Not P90Almost. Either do it, or don't.

If you don't, no big deal, that's your choice. But if you don't get the results you want, it's your fault. You can't say P90X didn't work for you, because you DIDN'T DO P90X!

This program works. I am living proof. I was fat. I have 7 days left to go. I have gone from stuffing myself like a sausage into 38 inch waist jeans, to needing a belt to hold up 32s. I still have some fat to lose, but I can see my abs...well, most of them. I have a 4 pack, working on a six pack. Before I had a keg. I am fit, really fit, for the first time in my life. I am taking on new physical challenges that I used to think were for "other people".

You can do it, but it takes work, and you HAVE TO FOLLOW THE PLAN!

Okay, I'm off my soap box.

So true Caedenspa! Notice how after 20-30 days, posters will just disappear? This program is NOT easy, it requires a real commitment. Your life is not going to change if you don't make changes! It's easy to give up, it's easy to say "Well, I'll just skip this workout." Before you know it, you're no longer doing any of the workouts, and stuffing your face again. Yes, I feel crazy sometimes for feeling guilty about not doing a workout, but I make it up as best as I can, and I keep going. You have to make working out and eating right a habit, a new lifestyle. After every 3 weeks there is a recovery week, not only to help your body recover, but to give yourself a mental rest as well.

I have noticed that 30 day thing, there are about 100 people posting about starting this week, but I find only around 10% of those post go past 30 days.

Okay I admit Kenpo is my least favorite...do I sub or skip it...NO! There is nothing in the guide or the website that all of p90x was going to fun, entertaining, or easy. It is, however, life changing. This former fatty won't deviate from the plan at all. It isn't an option. This forum is like most gyms in January.

Caedenspa. I did 60 days straight but then ended up on a three week plus vacation and only able to fit in about 3-4 days a week of lifting. But im gonna restart the whole thing Monday morning.
anyways i was wondering if you could give me some of you diet meals you used. I lost 25 pounds but still have 20-25 more to go. The workouts im good with but the diet can be difficult to find easy quick meals for a guy that works 10 plus hours a day.

thanks everyone

Werd.
"Do or do not. There is no 'try'" - Yoda.

That said I did sub yesterday - but in a good way! I was feeling good & I did CardioX (for the 1st time) instead of StretchX. It's short and it starts off slow (Yoga) but believe me, the pace picks up in the last 25 minutes!

Right on. bring it on. P90x. No pain no gain huh? Let's get real. The program calls for a day of rest on the 7th day doesn't it with a choice for stretching instead? My rest days usually fall on a full moon, and new moon. I agree it is not in the program P90x, but the moon does affect our bodies. So I rest on the moon days and continue on without losing a heart beat...using stretch rather than rest when it falls out in the routine....

That seems to be the eternal reply for pertty much every resolution someone takes.

The sad thruth is that 99% of all resolutions are lost and many times some very good excuse will come with them.

I have been weight training since i was 13 years old, competed in tae kwon do for many years has well, active in judo and karate.

I am now 36 years old and been dealing with back pain for almost 8 years.

For me P90X is my rehab program because its 1000 times better then everything i have seen up to date, and with all my years of training i have seen much.

I am not doing P90X right now, i am mixing core DVD with Yoga X, Kenpo X which is very cool and going more on the Lean P90X program, arms and shoulders DVD is a total blast and legs and back has well.

I am on week 2 right now when my rehab is done 100% i will start the P90X classic version.

For me its not a question of phase or cycle, i mean depending on what shape you are in starting the program.

I am 210 pounds at 5 feet 10 and 22% bodyfat, i am well aware that i wont get ripped to shreds just in 3 months and that for me a longer goal must be set.

Guess that P90X is for life because its really all you need to get in shape and stay super fit.

Yeah i do see post that say HAAAA only 3 weeks to do, only one week to go well dont be surprised to gain the weight back on afterward.

P90X is just not for everyone, it has been very hard for me to keep up with the dvds and i do stop a lot during the training, for me its more ego and getting back to my pre injured stat.

But P90X is not for your average person that love walks in the park and is not used to intense training.

I totally agree. If you are going to shell out the kind of money that P90x costs, you should be committed to actually going the whole 90 days. It is not a game, nor is it some anorexic blond in a leotard telling you to work it. This is the real deal, and I think people see the infomercial and the results, and get all hyped up about it. Then they actually get the package, do it for a few weeks, and decide that it's just too hard.

I tend to not really agree with this post. I actually find it a little demotivating. While I do agree the program needs to be followed as closely as possible, there are times or circumstances where people simply can not do all the workouts. Does this mean they shouldnt do the program at all?? Of course not! You might not see the results you are looking for, but you get what you put into it. Doing some of the program is better than sitting on the couch and eating potato chips.

Personally, I HATE yoga x. I'm going to continue to give it a chance because I've heard of people coming to love it. But if it doesnt work out for me, I'm not gonna quit the program completely and go back to eating unhealthy and being a bum. I'm going to sub something in for it and continue the program. It may take me longer to get that flexibility, but I'm not going to let one exercise keep me from doing the program.

I do agree with one thing, this isnt for just 90 days. It has to be a lifestyle. What is the point of being healthy for 3 months only to go back to old habits? As long as you are making an attempt to live a healthier lifestyle, do what works for you!

Re:Either do it, or dont. 1 Year, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Of course there will be times when you cannot train, look at me, depending on the back pain i have on different days.

Has for Yoga X just split the program in half, also the posture that hurt at least for me like the plow and getting on my neck i dont do them, since i have some neck pains i cannot look up either when bending down and doing some type of triangle move.

You just have to adjust the program for you, and see how it goes.

I do 30 minutes of Yoga X each day i have no choice i need to work my core.

My advise would be to really do the weight training, then do the rest, if you need to skip on workouts then just skip the cardio, you can do it pertty much everywhere anyways even if its not that intense, walking or even more.

Look at people who train in the gym they usually go 3 times per week, P90X is 6 times per week and day 7 you just rest or strech. Every 4 week its a recovery week.

Worst comes to worst take what works for you on P90X and leave the rest behind.

I want to start kenpo karate in a real school at some point if i go 3 times per week i will drop the cardio or just do either Kenpo X or Cardio X once per week on Sunday.

The only thing that should be done on a daily basis is streching, i am 36 and i feel stiff almost all the time now until i strech then i feel like a million dollars again.

I think you're misinterpreting these posts, or at least some of them. Now, I haven't been around here long at all but being a beginner to P90x I've found this board to be a great place for advice, support, and education about the program. When someone posts "Ab Ripper was brutal the first week, I could barely get through it". That gives me some hope because I struggled big time with the same thing. Does that mean I'm giving up on P90x? NO. Does it mean I'm looking for a reason quit? Give me a break. I think most people are aware that P90x is a challenge and a hardcore commitment.

This is the "Beginners Corner" right? I don't think there's anything wrong with posting your experiences, good or bad. It doesn't mean your bashing the program or looking for easy ways out.

Everyone has trouble in the beginning, we graduates know that from personal experience. However, when you're posting on Day 85, you'll notice that a lot of posters you used to read are no longer around. Maybe they're no longer posting but doing the program, maybe they had an interruption and will start again, but a good percentage just dropped out.

Just as newbies vent about the routines that are new to them, sometimes we graduates have to vent too...

The anorexic blond in a leotard most likely can kick our buts. I know the experience working out with them in Yoga or other fitness workouts, and many of the bulky men in the class can't keep up and drop out embarrassed by the skinny lady with blond hair in a pony tail saying work it. P90x is the exception including stretching, yoga, martial arts, chin ups, even a rest day,on and on never the same, muscle confusion but stretching to develop a lean flexible body. P90x is awesome. Stay with it.

Never Ever get on your neck!!! If you do, severe injury will happen sooner or later. This is a no no no in yoga. In shoulder stand and plow you are on the shoulders, there is space under the neck. A way to avoid this is to place a blanket under the shoulders to help raise the neck up off the floor. Again plow is not an exercise for the 7th vertebrae of the neck area. If the neck is in pain, stop the program and rest.....

Did 30 min yoga first week and hated it. Yesterday did the WHOLE thing, I cant wait to do it again! It is promising and your body will thank you for it.
P90X is a regime. P90X is a lifestyle. 90 days is not enough. Once you get into shape, and feel great. Energy Drinks,Big Macs, snickers, pepsi, fries, all that crap i used to eat have lost most appeal to me. I dont eat it anymore. I never thought water would taste sooooo gooood.
P90X ( a key), your body (old car). The key unlocks a brand new car, a new machine, a new YOU!
Keep up the good hard work X'rs and thank you to the graduates for the excellent advice and support.

Diezel (week 2)

Re:Either do it, or dont. 1 Year, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Dont be afraid to split the yoga x dvd in half, one hour and a half is way to long.

Also if you feel unconfortable in a position just dont do it, i cannot lift my head in the air and look up like they do because i have back pain and neck pains, so instead i look down but still feel the strech.

You can modify and make your own P90X, i warm up on my own then skip to the workout, also sometimes i have the sheets printed already so if i do the Arms and shoulders day i dont even need to DVD because i know what i need to do.

Its all about playing around with the program and do what works for you.

Interesting. At the beginning of this post he is saying follow the program or don't complain about not getting the results. At the end it is everybody saying change the program so it fits you....OK, but if you change the program then don't complain if you don't get the results, period. Splitting the yoga in half? Why not just do half the cardio then? Why not just do one set of all of the weight training then? It is an hour and a half for a reason. Just my two cents. I just started week 4 and the workouts are tougher but I am doing more in each one as well. Keep posting and I'll keep reading.

I believe in trying to keep fairly strict to the way it's laid out in the program to get the maximum results. With that being said, if it is too difficult for some and breaking it up helps them get through it, than by all means make the change. It certainly is a much better alternative than giving up all together.

I think those that decide to modify may want to eventually get back on track and complete the workouts in a continuous time frame. At least that should be the ultimate goal. Very similar to starting with one pull up with the goal of doing thirty in a row.

My two cents.
