Will be starting my journey next week and was wondering which type of dumbells were preferred by p90x users (hex or adjustable). If adjustable are preferred, which type would be recommended. Any advice would be appreciated.

My husband had this same discussion tonight. The hex would probably be the fastest because you wouldn't have to mess with adding or talkng away weight. As for price the hex weights are sort of pricey. We went with ajustable weights. We bought another 40# set tonight for 20 dollars at walmart. That way I have 2 sets to preload before workouts.

I decided to go with adjustables. I don't have a lot of room for many sets of hex. I also didn't want to get something I would outgrow right away. I ended up with an adjustable set that goes up to 50lbs each DB.

Each type have their positives and negatives. Do you have a lot of space, do you have a max budget, etc.

I have the boxflex set and I love them. They are quick to change the weight and with this program, you will need to be able to do that quickly in order to keep up the intensity!! There are other adjustable ones that people on here use, but the bowflex work very well!!

Btw, I got mine on Ebay, brand new, for almost 100 less than what they sell for on the bowflex site.

I would love a set of the bowflex weights. I saw some at play it again sports the other day. Wal-mart has a set sort of like that. But are only up to 30 or 40 pounds. I think they were less than 60 bucks for a set of 2.

I started using some dumbells with the plates and that took too much time to keep up with the videos. So, I went ahead and got some Powerblocks. I got a 45# set for $380 at Amazon. I love them and think they are worth the money.
