DUMBELL DECISION HELP NEEDED 1 Month, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Hey gang,

I went to Sports Authority today, and they had a holiday sale on:

Hex dumbells, for .79 cents per pound, and a Golds Gym adjustable dumbell set, which is normally $400 on sale for $300.00 with stand that ranges from 5lbs to 50lbs.

I'm 22M, 6'4, 205lbs, meduim build. I usually workout with 25,30,35s normally and higher weight for dumbell bench presses.

25,30,35 pairs of hex dumbells: $144.00 plus tax
5-50lbs adjustable dumbells w/ stand: $300.00 plus tax

What are you guys thoughts? Should I just made good "investment" and go with the adjustables, or perhaps get the 25,30,35 and if so should I get any other hex's for those of you who have done P90X before? I can afford these, but I still like to make the most economical choice.

Thanks!

Go for the adjustable. You may need lighter weights for some of the triceps and exercises, you'll have all your bases covered, plus you'll need heavier weights later!

I've got adjustables, but mine are the Power Blocks. I've got 5-45 pounds in 5 pound increments. After 30 days I am already at max weight on some of the exercises, but I really need the light weight on some of the shoulder flyes. So the adjustables are great.

I would also say to be ready to buy some heavier hex weights later on. But go someplace like Play It Again Sports and buy them used. Weight is weight, and Play It Again usually has them for like 45 cents a pound.

I agree! That;'s where I got mine. I bought some threaded dumbell bars and some plates. I need more plates than I thought, so now all I need is to buy the plates. I want to get 2 more bares though so I don't have to change the weights as often for the different exersises.
