I tried to post earlier, but I have no idea what happened to what I wrote. So, I'll try it again; if this is a duplicate, sorry. I am 52, 67 inches tall, and weigh 154 pounds. On January 1, 2004, I weighed 182.5 and had poor vitals, particlarly cholesterol (275 total and 174 LDL). Although I committed to a diet program (low carb/Atkins) and got my weight down to 153.5, I couldn't hold it there. Eventually, my weight went to 173 before settling in around 165. After four years of uneven effort, I recommitted myself on January 1, 2008 through a healthier diet (fruits, vegetables, broth soups, protein drinks, and small meal portions), Zocor (a prescription statin), and fitness walking. By April 2008, my weight was down to 147.5, my cholesterol was 144 total and 77 LDL, and my stress test results were excellent. In addition, my physician measured my body fat at 16%. Yet, I was not satisfied, which led me to p90x. I purchased the DVDs, watched most of the regimens while traveling, and commenced today with the Lean program (day 1-core synergistics). I did about 60% of the reps/minutes (and ocassionally 100%) and then watched again and tried some of the more difficult exercises to improve form. With all this said, I joined this forum because of the incredibly helpful posts I read and the sincerity of those who posted. Thanks for reading.

Congratulations on taking the first step and committing to the program. You will have days that you feel defeated, but as long as you keep doing your best, you will see great results! Looking forward to hearing about your progress.

Is there a reason you chose to do lean instead of Classic? Just wondering. I can attest to the benefits of the program healthwise. At my physical in November, I was 60 days into the program, and my doctor asked if I had increased my exercise. My pulse was slower, and my cholesterol, which was alredy in the 140's dropped another few points.

Thanks for commenting. I chose the lean for two reasons: 1) it didn't appear much of a difference from classic during weeks 1-3 (chest vs core syn), so I decided to begin with a slightly more moderate program; and 2) if I found p90x a fruitful regimen (it certainly is starting out that way!), I knew I could move to the classic either after week 4, or as a followup to the lean after 90 days. As an aside, and after watching the plyo dvd, I suspect that I was negatively influenced, as well, by those exercises.
