2 week vacation coming up 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
hey all. first off, congrats to all of you for going on this journey. i've been mainly a lurker but i've been keeping up with your progress.

anyways, i'm in the middle of week 2, phase 2. week 3 will start 10/27. and the recovery week for phase 2 will be 11/3.

i will be going away on vacation on 11/16 and won't be back until after thanksgiving - basically 2 weeks. i will be out of the country and travelling so i won't really get a chance to do any exercise during that period. plus i will be around family and if i don't eat what they serve me, i will be beaten senseless.

so what should my plan of attack be the week before i leave and when i get back?

i will have a full week of 11/10 to do week 1 of phase 3. but then the trip comes. what should i do when i return? should i start week 1 of phase 3 again? should i do a week or two of phase 2 to get back in the flow before phase 3? or should i just extend phase 2 to four weeks before my trip and then start phase 3 when i come back?

thanks in advance.

btw, p90x is probably the greatest exercise routine i've ever done. it has changed my life...

Before you go on vacation, you might want to check out Tony's video "Tony Horton-Road Warrior" from his One on One series. He takes you through a full P90X-style workout and all you need is one exercise band. That's it!! It's possible to buy the DVD itself without subscribing to the One on One Series.

You can also take Plyometrics, Ab-Ripper X, and Kenpo-X with you to do on non-lifting days and do the Road Warrior on lifting days.

Just a thought if you wanted to finish out with the same style of workout and be on vacation as well.

You can do the Ab Ripper without the video, just take a list of the exercises with you, and do it 3x a week.

thanks for the responses. but i will be going on a pilgrimage of sorts to india where i will be travelling the entire time. so i won't really be in a hotel/home until nighttime (after a full day of travel). so bringing the dvd's are out of the question. i will do soem pushups/ab exercises but i guess what i'm looking for more is what should i do with my schedule after i come back. should i just start phase 3 again?

thanks.

Okay, I see where you're headed with the question. First of all, hope you enjoy the trip!

When you come back, you might want to do a "transitional" week of Phase III stuff, but with lighter weights and more reps. I'd try NOT to go for the burn on everything as you'll be starting up at a pretty high level and you're just trying to re-train the body for more exercise. The next week, I'd do Week 1 of Phase III at your normal intensity and with the reps/weight resistance you've been using. That way, you'll minimize the soreness and maximize the benefit.

To be fair, the others will probably have their own thoughts as well. So feel free to use the recommendations for your own benefit. My hunch is that you'll make the right decision!

Hope this helps, and enjoy your trip!

I would repeat phase 3, as you will have had 2 weeks of "recovery". However, I would try to do as much as you can while you are away. Keep in mind that you can get the full list of exercises for ARX and Core Synergistics, and I think for Plyo and Kenpo also. Even if you can't do the back exercises the same way, you could use bands, and you can also do the bicep & tricep routines with bands, just take a list of the exercises with you. You've done them enough to remember what they are without seeing them. Can you do 30min of some sort of routine? It sounds like you might be getting enough cardio, so you could just concentrate on resistance routines, and maybe break it up to biceps one day, chest the next, legs day 3, back day 4, triceps day 5, ... Just thinking that keeping up some sort of routine will help you keep going when you return too.

I usually go away for 3 weeks every summer, and I plan to do some sort of dvd-less routine while I am away.
