The 17 Day Diet - Day 6 Blog Entry

Okay, so it is Day 6 on the 17 day diet and I am feeling great!  I’m down 5 pounds.  FIVE!  YAY!  That’s pretty darn good, right? Today was pretty easy although the evenings are the hardest for me.  You’re not supposed to eat fruit after 2:00 PM but I’ve “bent” that rule a couple of times and I’ve also had a couple of diet sodas.  I may have to cut them out eventually but for now I’m including them and I’m still losing.  The evenings are the most difficult times for me.  Maybe I should just go to bed earlier – like 6:00 PM!  I don’t know but I’m going to have to figure out some way around this as a life style change.  I never really even get hungry until around 6:00 PM and then it seems once I start eating I can’t stop.  That’s one of the largest challenges for me.

Friday on the blog I’ve declared a CLEAN EATING AND NO CHEATING DAY.  No diet sodas, no fruit after 2PM an entire 24 hour period, by the book.  The Dr. Phil Show and The Doctors Show are going to have a 17 Day Diet competition – so I thought Friday would be a good day to have a “perfect day” with no cheating.  No bites of this or tastes of that.

The other difficult time for me is after dinner.  It seems I immediately want something sweet.  It’s not like I had dessert every night after dinner pre-dieting so I’m not sure what the issue is.  I’m waiting for the sugar cravings to disappear and while they’ve definitely decreased there are not gone!

I’m still not perfect on the Green Tea either.  It seems to upset my stomach sometimes. I have tried it cold, I’ve mixed it with black tea - ½ and ½ which helps and I can drink a cup or two a day but that’s it.  I am getting the 64oz of water down though… “Wait, where’s the bathroom” seems to be a sentence that comes out of my mouth about every hour or so.  I also am not sleeping well as I’m up all night in peeing.  For now I’m looking at it as good exercise!

I almost had a disaster today.  The family ordered pizza tonight and I was putting it on the counter, opening the boxes, getting out plates and silverware, etc. and next thing I know there was a pepperoni in my mouth!  A pepperoni JUMPED INTO MY MOUTH!  The second I realized what I’d done I panicked and in my mind screamed “Noooooooooo!!!!” and ran to the sink to spit it out.  I know a single pepperoni is not going to put 10 lbs on my hips but I do know it could be the start of a downhill avalanche!  One bite of pepperoni can easily lead to “Just one bite” which can lead to “Just a small sliver” and next thing you know an entire pizza is GONE!

I’m also finding what’s important is planning my meals in advance and being prepared.  The hardest times are when I haven’t been to the store and don’t have the “FREEBIE” foods I’m allowed to eat or when I run out of soup.  For some reason just having the soup in the fridge makes me feel like there is always something there if I open the fridge and just look around I see it first thing and know I can eat it.  Or sometimes if I want something else I force myself to have some soup first and next thing I know I’m full.  The soup recipe is in the book as a lunch but it’s made of “FREE” veggies so I don’t know why you can’t have it anytime.  I do.

  3. Now at 46lbs. Just stick to it, it works. I have not done any exercise yet. Started in June. I just keep doing the cycles over again. I feel better and have dusted off the treadmill. I think I will start walking some!
  4. I have been on the diet for five days now, I haven't weighed myself yet but at night I feel so hungry and I want sweets!! Any advice?????
  5. i tried it and then fell off as I didnt lose the wt as it said .. i tried it for 2 weeks with NO cheating and I barely lost 3 pounds and then i let it go . I am planning to start it again . Any reason that I didnt lose as much as i should have . The only thing I wasnt able to excersce? can that be the reason
  6. I have completed 3 cycles and decided to start on cycle 1 again. I have lost 33lbs! I love this diet!
  7. I am almost done with Cycle 2-as of this past Wednesday I am down 12.9lbs :-). On other sites I have seen a lot of negative comments. I think this is a good program for me.   8. I am on day 3 of cycle 1 and feel awesome throughout the day however towards the evening time I am starting to get major headaches and am out of energy. I am assuming this is because of the drastic decrease in carbs in my diet but I just am hoping that my body will adjust and quit getting angry at me at the end of the day. Anybody else experiencing this?
  9. I lost about 8 pounds on the first cycle and started the 2nd cycle on fri. I cheated a little on friday but have stuck to it the last couple of days. For the last probably 4 days I have not lost ANYTHING!! I also havent gained. I feel like I am at a stand still. Is this normal?? or what should I do differently. Its only day 3 of the 2nd cycle...maybe it needs time to kick in?? anyone have any input???
  10. I am on day 3 and I am down almost 3 pounds!!! I am having trouble in the evenings. I crave carbs so bad. Last night I fudged and had oatmeal for dinner. Can you have diet soda or is it a no no? This blog is great I'm glad that i'm not the only one. :)
  11. there is a no sugar added yogurt at publix, and it's publix brand and they have about 6 different flavors. as for the coffee i think you can put truvia in it and i don't think that the creamer will do you in...i use both in mine- it's not good coffee without the extras
  12. My husband and I started the 17 day diet 7 days ago and hes lost over 5 pounds. I actually gained a pound. We follow it to the letter. I exercise moderately, but it seems like I should be losing with all the "junk" I have cut out. Its soooo discouraging and makes me want to quit. I wont though because its just better for me to eat this way. My acid reflux and my heartburn are gone, so I know its working in that way. I need to lose 50 pounds, at least, but at this rate I wont be at my goal anytime soon. :( Anyone have any advice ??
  13. I am new to the blog. I started this on Monday and here it is on Friday. I am down 7lbs. and am so excited. I get on the scale daily with the promise to myself that if I see only a .5 loss that I am fine with it, which is what happened yesterday. Today though I thought about not getting on it, but did anyway and so glad I did. Down 2 lbs. since yesterday!! This will help greatly as I head into the weekend. The structured work week is my best friend. Around 2:00pm I get the urge for my soda or a piece of chocolate and then again the piece of chocolate around 8:30pm, but I haven't cheated once. I stick to the foods, just not always in the order just because I wasn't as prepared for the week as I thought I was. Bikini Ready by July 1st is the goal. There isn't a food out there that is making me lose sight of that so far. Hopefully that will continue. Wish me strength for the weekend!
  14. I have not been able to find sugar free yogurt either. Just low fat with fruit. For some reason they don't seem to stock plain yogurt any place. Did find the Greek yogurt.
  15. I am on Day 5 and I have dropped from 181.4 to 176.2. Following diet exactly using the sample meal plan. I have had three glasses of wine--my only weakness. Hope to handle it better the remainding 12 days.
  16. I was really hoping to start this diet Monday and my book hasnt arrived yet,its been 10 days,,,can anyone please give me the exact things to eat for first 3 days so I can start monday in case book still hasnt arrived.I would so appreciate it

  18. Day 3 for me. Dropped 5 pounds so far. I am doing this to a TEE!!!! I am having trouble at night too. I have used my yogurt with 2 tbsp of sugar free strawberry preserves! I know it says 6 oz...but that's the only place I've fudged. Probably 10 oz. It helps!

  20. I think this is day 6 for me?? Or maybe day five? Anyway, whatever day it is, I did not get on the scale today. I was feeding my 17 month old daughter a snack of mini cinnamin grams yesterday and about five of them jumped into my mouth. BAD BAD BAD!!!!! I know! They tasted sooooo damn good though. I am making my scrambled eggs right now and hoping to get back on track. Wish me luck! And good luck to all of you.

  22. It seems I have lost all of my blogging buddies. where did you all go??? You must have more of a life than I. It is snowing like crazy here so we are just bumming around the house. No need to go anywhere, these are the days it is much harder to stick to a diet though.
  23. Day five and I am down three pounds. So much for not getting on the scale, huh? I wish it was more but I will take what I can get I guess. Keep up the good work everyone!!!!
  24. Can I have coffee with cream or milk in it? Or, do I have to drink it black...I've got the book and I want to start next week, but I'm having trouble finding no-sugar yogurt and I'm scared of giving up coffee. Please help!
  25. and only down two pounds. Ugg!! Very frustrating!!! I don't know if I am doing everything right or not though because I have not received my book yet. I have just been trying to do it by the blogs i read. Exercise has been very slow for me too. I am in Nebraska and it is BRRRRRRR Cold! here. That is no excuse I know, I could be doing a workout video inside. Are pears or oranges okay to eat! Also how about light mayo (no sugar)? I have not found sugar free yogurt yet.....well, actually I had my hubby look for it and he came home with some yogurt but it all had sugar so looks like he will be taking that for lunch.
