P90X - Week Two Results

I am just starting week three so it is time to post my week two results and thoughts on P90X and how it works for me.  If you have not read my p90x blog week one , you might want to. In this weekly blog entry I will discuss briefly each day's routine with how it went for me and I will conclude with what I conclude as my results for week two and will serve as a comparison to week one.

P90X Week Two

I started off week two much the same as week one and at the same weight but I feel denser (muscular) and less fat but the weight is still 232 or so.  I am still nursing a sore hamstring that I hurt in my trial run of P90X prior to week one that happened on a back kick in the KempoX dvd but it hasn't really slowed me down much, I am just very aware that its a nagging injury and I must be extra careful to pay attention to any pain I feel in the hamstring.  Now here is an entry on each day:

  • Day 8 P90X - Chest and Back - I have already covered supplies you need in my week one p90x blog post , so I want cover that anymore in this post.I felt pretty good during the workout for chest&back but notice I am still having a bit of a burping issue towards the end of the workout and definitely during abripperX.  My lunch is usually at noon and I don't eat again before my 5pm or so workout times.  But as for this workout, I am definitely able to do more reps.  I still DESPISE dive bomber pushups and diamond puships.  I love the rest of the workout.  I notice when I do the heavy pants and lawnmowers that I tend to be more out of breath after those and heart rate climbs.  I can only conclude it is either because it is with free weights or the leaning over position is somehow causing this. AbripperX is getting slightly easier, but sitll nowhere doing it 100%, its tough, but I like it!
  • Day 9 P90X - Plyometrics - I really like this workout and can't understand why so many think of it as the hardest, certainly isnt for me.  It is an extremely hard workout, but Yoga wins that prize for me.
  • Day 10 P90x - Shoulders/Arms - I am feeling quite fatigued today, not sure why but I still do the workout quite well, it just "feels" different, not sure what it is.  Just a bit slower, a bit weaker today.  Abripper X is getting better and is almost to the point I enjoy it!  I still have burping issues, going to try and eat bland before legs/back
  • Day 11 P90X - I still have a really hard time on Yoga because I push so hard on shoulders/arms that during the downward dog my shoulders/arms are fatigued.  In fact, I am just fatigued period.  I am hoping it is temporary.  I had a REALLY hard time with anything that focused on my right leg because of my sore hamstring and had to pull back often as it was very sore, iced it afterwards.  I LOVE the last 15 minutes of Yoga, wish it was more that but than it wouldn't be P90 "X" would it? haha!
  • Day 12 P90X - I took Friday night off, I was quite fatigued, I think this was the right choice as my 1 day a week off.
  • Day 13 P90X - It is Saturday and time to bring it for legs and back and I kicked ass.  I felt like I had a lot more energy, guess the day off helped.  Pushed through really hard. I also had no burping issues and wow abripperX is improving! I must watch what I eat and not have acidic foods, or base foods/drinks (like milk) to neutralize the acid reflux.
  • Day 14 P90X - Today was supposed to be KempoX but it was so nice out I did two and half hours of yard work at an extremely fast pace.  I am 100% sure this was a good cardio workout and was a good replacement for kempo.  I carried a lot of heavy mulch, did a lot of digging with a shovel, carrying dirt/rocks/sod and in general kept my heart rate up to my range.  So I have no guilt on this change to the workout.

Some Thoughts On P90X Week Two Results

  1. Did I lose weight in week two?  No
  2. What did I learn from Week two?
    • I wasn't as sore
    • I was more fatigued
    • Careful what you eat as serious exercise causes your stomach to produce more acid than usual
    • I wasn't as hungry
    • I could do more reps and more weight
    • I could do more yoga moves
    • Abripper X became enjoyable!
  3. Any Setbacks? No, I dont think the fatigue made for any problems, all in all a nice improvement over week one.
  4. My Mood? Same as week one.  Upbeat, confident. Not depressed to the lack of weight loss, this is "normal" for p90x.
  5. Enjoyable? Now thru two weeks its still very enjoyable. the one day I was really fatigued it was a bit of a chore to get going but glad I hung in there.
  6. Life Impact? Still an issue, not sure I could do this over 90 days at the 6 days a week pace.

  1. well ,my p90x isn't going well as i thought. After 15 days, i still see myself very fat. Took some pics yesterday ,so i could see for real, and I got so disappointed and thought: 15 days hard work and diet (i was already on diet and exercise)and still the same???...its hard to be motivated!!I have the acid too in my stomach, didn't know that was a general thing with this kind of exercise. i look at the excel sheet for the exercises and: my God all over again for what?for those pics??. Mentally is very hard. any advices??? tkx!!!!
  2. Week 2 day 5... I'm enjoying the cardio and kenpo x workouts featured on the lean program, but the Ab Ripper x is kicking my butt! Also, I've only lost 4 lbs so far since I started p90x and am starting to worry... I had a baby 5 months ago via c-section and I'm sore in places that I didn't think I had worked on. I'm 5 ft 3 in and 180 lbs. I was 135 lbs before I got pregnant, and my goal is to drop all the baby weight by June 1st. With not seeing great immediate results I am really getting discouraged. I've even followed the diet plan as closely as I can. I'm hoping by the end of this month to see a weight loss of 15 lbs, otherwise I don't see my goal obtainable with this program...
  3. hey...my wife and i are in the middle of wk2-finished yoga yesterday...i think i wud rank yoga #2 and still feel plyo sucks the soul out of me...i m nt into weight loss (i'm 162 lbs 5'10") bt my wife is trying to shed some..bt no change in her...i too feel the acid reflux(burping) issues and chest nd back makes me nauseous towards the end..so i try to eat a protien bar 1.5 hrs before workout ..i think u shd look into yr nutrition coz my wife complained about fatigued and we figured that she was 400 calories below her minimal no-workout daily calorie intake..so with P90X m sure she ws falling short by miles..
  4. Yes, yoga is the "mother" of all the discs. I laugh because it's meant to be relaxing... but that routine had me so pissed 1/2 way through I didn't finish. :-) I keep trying though... I'm with you on the fatigue feeling. It doesn't worry me, I enjoy it. Makes me feel like I'm doing something. Though, I have been sleeping like crazy. So tired, but not sad. It's nice to sleep that well. It's been 3 weeks for me and no weight loss. I've been eating better than I ever have, but I recently got back from New Orleans.. and that's just not a diet friendly place. Clothes fit better, about to drop to my old pant size, and that's great. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who didn't drop a bunch of weight right away. I'm hoping later in the program this will change, but, if I keep looking better... who cares I guess.
  5. Yeah i'm disappointed, well a little bit. I weight 294 pounds 6'3 and only 17 and im pretty strong. Although i still have a stomach and a good size of fat on me. Im almost done with week 3. I actually gained 2 pounds. I noticed i can do more pushups abribber and plyo better. And cloths fit a little looser. but was just hoping i could lose more weight.. Will i just start dropping weight after phase 1?? or whats going on?? I diet pretty good about 2100 cals a day.
  6. this is my 2nd week on the p90x system. I lost a total of 4 pounds this week (not much) but lost 6% body fat and 3 1/2 inches off my waist!! with results like these, im definitly going to keep at it. cant wait to see the end results after my 90 days!!
  7. I feel the same way as you regarding yoga! ah! I still haven't gotten through it, BUT this week i will! I HATE dive bobmer pushups ha! They hurt my elbows, same as military, but I can push through those. I've only lost about 2.5 pounds, but I can already tell a difference in my face and how my clothes fit. I can about 93% say that I will keep up with this for 90 days 6 days a week because I WANT and NEED to see results!
  8. It is crucial for the first 30 days of p90x to eat more protein. Follow the nutrition guide that is included as much as possible, if not, just make sure you get enough protein. I am on week 2 of P90x and made the mistake on my first week of not 1) not eating enough and 2) not eating enough protein. I did P90x for 60 days last year and did not complete it, however, I wanted to note that I didn't lose any weight until after 30-45 days. At that point, I dropped almost 25 lbs! So don't be discouraged if you don't drop weight in the first month; if you bring it, it will come!
  9. I searched p90x weight loss, so I could get some answers. I, too love p90x so far, but the results are not quite what I have expected. I had a couple of friends that lost a lot of weight fast, and they were similar in build to me. I am 6'4" and weigh around 260. I have at least 40lbs I could lose. I am a fairly muscular guy, but I have not lifted regularly for about 2 years. I am experiencing a lot of the same as you. I have not lost any weight yet, but my clothes are starting to fit better, and I am feeling a lot better in my athletics. I also really have a hard time with yoga, diamond push-ups, and sometimes the dive bombers. The first week I noticed (after drinking a ton more water than usual) I gained around 7 lbs. I have lost that, and am back to my weigh in before the workouts started. I am hoping after week 4 starts I start noticing some weight loss. Ten year class reunion is in 6 weeks!!! Good luck, and feel free to reply. -Justin
