At the time of this writing I am into my Recovery week (what a misnomer that is, but more on that next week) so it is time to give my weekly blog update on P90X.
I have a little bit of good and bad news. The good news I have lost weight and my weight is down to 230. The bad news is on Monday, day 15 of P90X, I injured my right shoulder. I have no idea when during the workout it happened as I didn't feel the pain until later. This pain continues up to the time of this writing. It is minor pain and hasn't limited me much, but it has definitely slowed me down a tiny bit on anything using my right shoulder, which sucks.
In week 3 I am not dieting, but I am in week 4 which is my Recovery week and a few days into it, but I don't want to spoil that news, so make sure to check back to my personal weight loss journey with p90x . I have also come to realize it has become more than a weight loss adventure now. It has become a mission of sorts to get a beter looking physique that is toned and has a nice flat stomach. I so hope to get a six pack stomach but do realize I need to diet and so have started a low-carb diet (again, next week I will have more details).
Day 15 of P90X - Chest & Back - As I already mentioned after my workout was over I noticed I had injured my right shoulder and it hurts to this day (im on day 24 now). The workout however was very good. I continue to make progress and you can definitely tell that each time you redo a workout (#3 for me "officially" doing chest&back) it gets a bit easier. I even agree with Tony Horton now on AbRipper X. You love it, but you hate it. This is so true!
Day 16 of P90X - Plyometrics - I was glad to give my shoulder a "day off". Plyo focuses mostly on the lower body and this week plyo seemed a bit harder for some reason. I don't know if I was just a bit tired or what. Still did 90% of the workout but I couldn't do quite as many reps as last week, so a slight step backwards.
Day 17 of P90X - Shoulders & Arms - I was quite nervous approaching this workout with my shoulder still hurting but I decided to give it a go and glad I did. During the shoulder presses I started off really light weights, like 10 pounds. This didn't hurt so I climbed back up to higher weights after about 5 minutes into the workout. The whole workout seems good. It seems my shoulder only "hurts" at certain angles and shoulder presses is not one of them. Odd? Wonder if its a rotator cuff injury..?
Day 18 of P90X - YogaX - As the workout for YogaX approaches I always dread it, but you know what? By the time I finish the workout I always say to myself, "Boy I am glad I did that, I feel a lot better now." But why do I dread it before hand...?
Day 19 of P90X - Its Friday and has become my day off and was true again this week. Had a few beers at the neighbors instead. Sue me, ok! :)
Day 20 of P90X - Legs&Back - This workout always gets me really winded and high pulse rate. My theory is its the two largest muscles in your body and thus require the most effort and energy when works as hard as Tony & co. do in this workout video. It's brutal, but I like it and oh, CardioX continues to be a love/hate relationship but I am glad to have it!
Day 21 of P90X - KempoX - Yeah yeah, last week I did "yard work" and I think I paid the price a bit this week during KempoX. It was a bit harder than I hard recalled from week one of p90x. I did the whole workout but just felt a bit winded.
Some Thoughts On P90X Week Three Results
Did I lose weight in week 3? Yes! 3.5 pounds
What did I learn from week 3?
Pay attention to FORM - I may have injured myself being sloppy - but it could have been bad luck too.
Soreness isn't much anymore,thank goodness!
I was not fatigued this week
I love abripperX
I hate abripperX
I dread yogaX until I do it
Everything was an improvement this week except Plyo and Kempo - hrm? Cardio level not good enough?
Any Setbacks? Yes the shoulder, tired of hearing that? My hamstring is still not 100% healed from pre-week 1 tests of P90X but it isn't a setback any longer. Just cautious with it. Actually I do skip warrior3 and triangle poses on my right leg in yogax b/c of the strain.
My Mood? I must admit I continue to be in a good mood and enjoying life.
Enjoyable? P90X has not gotten boring, I do enjoy it.
P90X continues to have one flaw of time consumption. I find the time, but its hard..
