I want to start off by saying I have lost five pounds during my recovery week of P90X. Current Weight after week 4, 225. I have a number of comments on things I liked about the recovery week and things I did not like. So read on or start with my other p90x entries .
With my weight having peaked at 233.5 I am pleased to be down to 225 and lost 5 pounds in one week mainly because I changed my eating habits. I finally went to my favorite way to lose weight and thats a low carb diet, which I prefer over others . I try to keep my carbs under 30 and I always tends to lose weight. I am actually into week 5 now and weight continues to drop, read my blog next week to hear it all.
P90X Recovery Week - Days 22 thru 28
Now on to the actual p90x part of things starting with my health. This was my best week "physically". My hamstring was near 100% and my shoulder was over 90% if not higher, just not quite 100% on both so I was able to not hold back on those two muscles (finally).
P90X Day 22 - YogaX - I don't like starting the week with Yoga but once I got into it, it was a good workout. I really enjoyed it. no problems health wise. Can I do 100% of the moves in this killer yoga dvd yet? no..but its a bit closer.
P90X Day 23 - Core Synergistics - Holy Crap! I wasn't expecting this. This was supposed to be a recovery week and than I was hit with a sledge hammer! This workout kicked my ass, I just think I was not mentally prepared as the next one (read on). Oh and I must say the overall flow of the workout I liked.
P90X Day 24 - KempoX - This is becoming a nice "easy" (haha) workout. No, really, it is one of the easier ones and look forward to it in a way as I know I won't be destroyed by it.
P90X Day 25 - XStrectch - For me it was a rest day..I just dont do stretch x
P90X Day 26 - Core Synergistics - This time I was ready and I brought it! (its friday). Came home a bit early even to get this workout in before "poker" where I was a good boy and drank only lite beer and no carb foods. I went from despising this workout the first time to really liking it. What a difference it makes after you have done it even once.
P90X Day 27 - YogaX (NOT!) - I actually did over 2 hours of tennis and got a nice sun burn on my face/neck. Would you believe on the last game I pulled up from my hamstring? It turns out to not be major, as I am days into the next week and no twitch or anything. Hey, is it OK to sub tennis or whatever for something like Yoga? Well if you are a purist perhaps not, but screw it, I got a life and this was great exercise.
P90X Day 28 - Rest/XStretch - Uhhh, is this a question? I rested..
Some thoughts on P90X week 4
Did I lose weight this week? Yep! 5 pounds, 8.5 in 2 weeks
What did I learn this week?
Don't underestimate what the workout will be (core syn!)
Recovery week is more just like "1 step below hell workout week"as a better name. Hah!
I feel more fit and day 30 pics approaching, I am pretty sure I am thinner. :)
Any Setbacks? No. The hammy in tennis turned out to be very minor. Its 100% greenlight week 5.
My Mood? Wow, 4 weeks in a row and I am not in a pissy mood a single day? Wtf is going on? :p
Enjoyable still? Yes, and in a perveted way I look forward to the pain, BRING IT!
I am working well around the time requirements of p90x, but for those strapped for time maybe consider 10 minute trainer .
