TRX Suspension Training can increase elasticity, improve power, and build stability

TRX Suspension Training is not just for those looking to lose weight.  In fact, it is being utilized by athletes, soldiers, physical therapists, and exercise instructors as a form of training in their prospective fields.   Is TRX Suspension Training an option for you?  This review will give you the information necessary to make an informed decision on if it will meet your individual needs.

TRX Suspension Training – What is it?

TRX Suspension Training is a bodyweight home gym designed by Randy Hetrick.  Randy Hetrick was a Navy seal comrade.  He wanted to create a system that allowed those who were deployed the opportunity to train and get fit.

The goal was to create an effective workout system that could be performed in a small, confined area.  The system utilizes your own bodyweight as resistance; therefore, eliminating the need for plates or power rods.

TRX Suspension Training – The Program

The concept behind this program is using your own body weight for resistance.  The exercises are done from a standing point or at assorted angles to the ground resulting in using your core muscles.  Working in these positions instead of in a seated or lying down position will stabilize your muscles in your back, shoulders, hips, core, and knees.

When the straps are positioned from above, your joints and spine will stabilize while you are pushing and pulling.   This will increase the strength in your back, abdomen, and gluteus muscles.  It will also eventually improve your overall strength and balance.

Some of the exercises you will be performing are standard, but they are combined with the straps.  These exercises include:

  • Pushups
  • Squats
  • Chin ups
  • Planks
  • And more….

The straps are simple to use.  You will establish an anchor point, which is where the cords will be attached.  Next, you will grab the handles and lean your body away from the anchor point.

There are different programs available with this system.   The TRX Rip Trainer Basic Kit consists of a 30-minute workout.  The Pro-Kit consists of a 65-minute workout.  Both of these workouts are designed to build strength, increase flexibility, and build core stability.

TRX Force Kit: Tactical provides a 12-week program that focuses on strength, mobility, agility, and conditioning.  It is a more advanced program.  It is divided into three phases.  Each phase is four workouts per week for four weeks.

  • Phase 1 – Builds a solid core.
  • Phase 2 – Increases strength in your arms and legs while maintaining your core strength.
  • Phase 3 – Includes the above types of exercises with additional high intensity interval training.

TRX Force Kit: Tactical also comes with two DVDs that contain agility drills and benchmarking tests.  It also includes 3 real time workout modules.

TRX Suspension Training – Pros/Cons

This highly intense program has many advantages.  It can increase elasticity, improve power, and build stability.   It can take some time to get used to the lengths of the straps, set-up, and positions.  It does take some practice; however, this is what makes it challenging and not boring.  Eventually, you will get the hang of it.

It is a total body workout working several major muscle groups and combines strength training and cardiovascular.  This program is challenging and can help you step up to that next fitness level.

It is portable and weighs approximately 2 pounds.  While it is portable, you do need some space for the ceiling anchor.  However, it does come with a door anchor that can be hung over any door.

Bottom Line

This seems to be a reputable program that can transform your body when used properly.  While the cost can be expensive, there is a 30-day money back guarantee, as well as a one-year limited replacement warranty for any defects in the materials or manufacturing.  TRX Suspension Training seems to be a highly effective workout system.
