The Rack Workout - Will It Really Help Build Muscle Mass?

Everyone likes to look their best – it makes us confident and more attractive to the opposite sex. But, we don’t always have the time to to head down to the gym and get a full workout in as often as we should. Sometimes, all we need is a quick 15 minute session before we go to sleep at night or when we wake up in the morning to keep our body looking good. This is exactly what The Rack Workout, as seen on TV, offers. The Rack Workout is comprised of the main fitness apparatus – The Rack – along with some specific workouts and a nutrition guide. Here is a simple The Rack all in one gym review that covers everything you need to know about The Rack Workout and provides more information on the all in one gym The Rack claims to be.

What Is The Rack?

The Rack is a sturdy, durable piece of fitness equipment that you can use to keep in shape. If you have ever worked out before, you know that you need some specific pieces of equipment to get the most from your workouts – you can’t do it all by yourself. The rack allows you to do almost every bodyweight exercise in comfort and with ease – pushups, dips, and even ab exercises. It is made from solid steel and weighs 30 pounds, so you know it will support you and last a lifetime. There have been a few The Rack all in one gym review pages posted that really show how durable The Rack actually is – let’s just say that it doesn’t matter what you do to it, it won’t break!

The Main Benefits Of Using The Rack Workout

The main benefit to using The Rack is that it allows you to complete The Rack Workout in the comfort of your home or wherever you are without going to the gym. Not everyone has time to take out from their day to head down to the gym. The Rack Workout alleviates this problem. The Rack is also great for traveling – if you are going to be staying in a hotel for a while and it doesn’t have a gym, you can bring The Rack with you and get a few basic workouts done in your hotel room. The bonuses that come with The Rack are also quite helpful – the included nutrition guide and the workout DVD’s will really help you progress towards your physical fitness goals. Various The Rack all in one gym review pages on the Internet will echo these points.

The Rack Workout Isn’t Perfect

The main issue with The Rack Workout is the limited resistance that it offers. If you know anything about human physiology, you know that you need to increase the resistance you place on your muscles to make them grow. That’s why when you go to the gym, you see all the really muscular people lifting heavy weights. You need the extra weight to get the necessary stimulation to build muscle mass. The all in one gym The Rack claims to be doesn’t really allow you to do this. Before long, you will have reached the potential of this workout tool. You can always add some weight plates on your back when doing pushups or use a weight belt when doing dips, but when you start doing this, you are getting away from the main premise of the tool and spending a lot of extra money.

Final Verdict On The Rack Workout

If you are looking for a fitness product that you can use easily at home to maintain your muscle mass and make small improvements in regards to your body composition, The Rack Workout is definitely something that you should look into. But, don’t be fooled – you won’t get the same level of workout intensity from The Rack Workout than you would when you go to the gym and use real weights. The key to building muscle is to progressively overload them with more weight when you workout, and The Rack Workout doesn’t really allow you to do that. Bodyweight exercises will only take you so far, and once you reach a certain point in your physical development, you will not get the returns you desire. If you read other The Rack all in one gym review columns on other sites, you will see that almost everyone holds the same opinion on this.

  1. Sure, the biggest, strongest guys lift heavy weights, but he fact is, -most- guys who train with weights are using weights -lighter- than body-weight provides. The typical trainee is doing pull-downs because he can't do a full set of chin-ups, bench-presses because he can't do a decent number of pushups. Strict form on these body-weight exercises has -lots- of room for improvement without added weight. When the day comes that more weight's required, you'll already be in great shape.
  2. I would talk to your doctor, your case is unique.
  3. I have stage 4 melanoma and will begin treatment in about 2 weeks. I have lost 53 lbs since my disease moved into my intestines (this problem has been fixed, so I am eating now). I am looking to get myself into what I would call "good shape", as it will help me endure the 16 week battery of immunotherapy (protein stores are key). Will the rack be beneficial in helping me attain this goal quickly as part of a comprehensive crossfit training regimen (circuits, intervals, ladders, etc), or should I keep my money in my pocket?
  4. I have owned three Bowflex's including the Bowflex Ultimate 2. I could have saved thousands of dollars if I had known about The Rack. I just finished my 3rd week of working out with this incredible piece of equipment and I am totally impressed!! I am 49 years old and a practicing Martial Artist for 30 years and now teach MMA. I am fairly fit (not to toot my own horn) yet when I workout on The Rack I push it to the next level and go hard and it is amazing!! As far as the guy who thinks McKibbin is juicing; etched abs maybe, however that is not the body look you get from juicing. I am totally sold on this piece of equipment and if you want to take it up a notch just add some weight to the rack, regulare plates with plastic ties and put on a weighted vest and then tell me you can't take it to the next level???? It's elementary my dear Watson!!!!
  5. Man I went to the actual site and purchased it for the original price...is there a way to redeem a few bucks so that i only pay 100 too?
  6. I am 50years old and i always thought that this was a gimmick on tv but i found out quickly how great this machine is.It makes you work hard and i have made results. The Rack is a very good buy.
  7. On the workout schedule sometimes it is listed twice. Does that mean do it twice in a row or just twice that day? anyone!
  8. I have recently purchased the rack and i absolutely love it. I use a adjustable weighted vest to increase strength and also you can purchase weights from the rack workout website that are made specifically for the rack
  9. I use the rack and love it . I had back surgery and was 240 lbs 5' 11 and outa shape changed my diet used the rack four times a week and ran lije fifteen miles a week im fortey and in the best shape of my life . Buy it and use it you will love it now 190 lbs and ripped
  10. I went to the sporting goods store to purchase a dip rack. The dip racks are huge and run $150. They go on sale for $100 but on my way to the register I found The Rack. Yes it looks like a senior citizen walker but I looked at it and said for $100 I get a mini dip station and don't have to eat up a bunch of space! Sold...so I got it home and realized at the VERY LEAST I can just use it for my dips, but this comes with the workouts and the diet plan.I have always been a guy who doesnt eat right and didnt really know where to start. This is an entire plan and lays out your diet and fitness routine for you. All the thinking it done! I cut out all soda, have been drinking only water for two weeks and have already cut 8 pounds simply from that. Now with the proper diet and rack workouts I plan to drop my body fat percentage and improve my overall fitness. I'm 37 and I'm looking to see the 6 pack I lost when I was in my 20's. It is well worth $100. This is not a gimick.
  11. Is there a place online I can go to look at the daily workout routines?? I don't have a computer at home to download off the CD. Thankx for any help
  12. //First off, those who suggest The Rack can’t break – really? I would NEVER just chuck it down on my concrete floor. Even had I a concrete floor. Not to say The Rack is fragile. But people, less hype! //So my REAL comment: I’ve had my Rack three weeks, and LOVE it! Past 50, I run 20+ miles a week, knock out my pushups & chinups most days. Decent shape. The Rack is fun, and takes me to the LIMIT. I don’t owe its makers, nor care if you ever buy one, but I’m takin’ care of mine ’cause I so love it! Wanna be using it at 90! //Last thing. Not only will The Rack help you look good – The rack ITSELF looks good! This thing is near sculptural… It folds about flat so you could, I guess, hide it under a sofa, but why? I stand it facing the door in my office, like a sentry, and get a kick whenever I spot it there, all martial like, reminding me to do my reps! It never nags, mind you, just nudges – in a beautiful way. //Fack, I’m gonna go some dips right NOW.
  13. I got it, it is as stated, it's well built and sturdy, I hear you can get weights to zip tie to the bars also. Guys... lets face it ANY device is what you put into it, I have gotten "results" from doing simple calisthenics while watching TV, is it better than weights? is it better than etc.. NO!it's not better it's different, it's a tool use it and you will get results, use it AND weights.. use it AND running.. I am glad I got it cause it is cool and does the job intended.
  14. In my opinion The Rack is awesome, Depending on your fitness goals it might be all you need. I recomend it, but you need to keep in mind that while the workouts are intense it is not true cardio so I would maybe still do some intense cardio with it. the streching portions are minimal at best so yoga or just more indepth stretching is rcommended. I added the Rack to my routine - I currently Run at least 2.5 to 3 miles a day, Do Yoga, I supliment INSANITY workouts as well as lift weights and train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. You will get results no matter how you workout or what you do. Like anything you get what you put into it. If you workout hard and often and fuel your body correctly then you will get what you want. If it fails you remember its the indian not the arrow.
  15. I use this workout a lot now, but incorporate regular weight lifting with it just to spice it up. I'm a skinny dude looking for mass build and so far the rack gives a good pump and it tones me up but I haven't gotten the mass I would like. Love this product but I won't fully use it till I get more bulk.
  16. I saw the rack on tv late one night and thought it would be right for me. I am a professional MMA fighter and have fought on HD.Net with the XFC. I had a knee injury and havent been able to workout in a while. I havent lifted a weight in over ten years though my training kept me in shape and my muscle tone good. Well first night and I can attest it is going to be a great product. I have trained with the likes of Matt Hughes at the hit squad. This thing is bad ass and its just the first night. Though I have been around many exercise regiments and can see thru the bull really fast. Its def the real deal. You can also facebook me to see that i am a real person. I plan on doing pictures and that stuff for it.
  17. I agree with this. My friend and I used the rack and have been for about 3 weeks or so. I'm 6'1" and weigh about 260. I believe that the rack is AMAZING for getting toned, but if you want to get ripped and bulk up, the rack is NOT worth it. It is a lot of reps and mainly cardio, and not so much weight training because of the lack of weight in the rack(35 lbs).
  18. I am a single mom with two young kids & work a full time job. I bought The Rack because I love to lift weights & work out but do not have the time plus I live in a small town that doesn't have a gym. I have been using The Rack for 2 weeks now and everyone I know has noticed & they all want to know what I have been doing! I like that I only have to have one piece of equipment in my small house and it's too heavy for my kids to try and play with. I highly recommend it.
  19. Is it possible to buy the Rack from within the UK?
  20. I'm 6'1" and in less than three months I've gone from 163 pounds to over 190 pounds and can still wear my 30" waist jeans. You can definitely bulk up with the rack but I added 30 pounds of sand ankle cuff weights to the Rack and usually wear a 40 pound workout vest and will add more weight as soon as the workouts get too easy. They are intense and incredibly satisfying workouts that really make you feel like you've accomplished something. I'm 53 years old and many who don't know my age think I'm in my 30s. I've used free weights and a bowflex machine in the past with minimal results. The Rack has been a godsend and I'd recommend it to anyone interested in getting healthier and getting a great looking body.
  21. if i order it from the website it comes wiyh all the dvds if i buy if from like dicks or target does it still come with the dvds?
  22. The only shape I am in is round so I was curious if "the rack" helps with getting in shape or is it just for people already in shape trying to get ripped?
  23. Very very skeptical at first. Bought mine at target for $80 cheaper. This is the real deal. I'm in the ARMY and is perfect for maintaining 100 pushups and situps in 2 min and even better for the endurance needed while deployed. Not gonna get you huge but it will rip you
  24. I have used it and I like it. When I first got it I used it for almost a month without seeing any result, I mean nothing. I inquired about it through their customer service(very helpful)and I told them I had been a gym rat for a couple of years and they told me typically people who go to the gym alot see results but it takes longer. A couple more weeks went by and I really started seeing a transformation. I was burning fat that was within the muscle and once all that fat was consumed from the short, but high intensity workout my body started to change. After 6 months of use, my old lady is loving my body and wants to use it a lot more. lol. This is my real name and I can be found on facebook, do a search for Joe Ringuette add me as a friend if you like, and I have pictures of what I look like with the Rack system. Leave a reply and I will reply back. I do not work for or am I associated with this company in any way. Just a satisfied customer.
  25. Their ad starts out, "Do you want a body like this". It has this dude that is totally ripped and shredded and oiled up. Now come on people, he did not get that way from using this hunk of metal. He is on the juice and lifting iron. Can you get a workout from using this thing? Yeah. Probably a pretty good body weight workout. Can you do all the exercises in their video with things around the house and get the same workout? Hell yeah! Dips = chairs, elevated pushups = anything you can use to elevate yourself, Curls = anything heavy, pull ups = pull up bar for $19, abs = leg lifts and crunches (fundamentals), squats = body weight squats or hold something of weight, and Shoulder press = resistance bands. This is just another fitness gimmick/scam. If you buy this you might as well buy a Thigh Master while you are at it.
  26. This year I turn 40 and I had never seen any informercials onThe Rack. After explaining to my dude that I would like to be at a certain size by my 40th bday, he told me to look up The Rack Workout system. Like many skeptics I sincerely had my doubts. I ordered the thing anyway and man... The Rack Workouts are not long, but long enought to kick my but. My buddy was jealouse because he didn't have the money at the time to purchase one, so I brought mine over to show him. I had probably been working out with the rack for about 2 weeks...my proudest moment was when my buddy saw me after 2 weeks and said "Dude, your stomach has shrunk" I was happy as hell.. I am in no way affiliated with the company nor care if you buy one or not...All I can say is that it has been working for me and everyone around me wants to know what the hell am I doing to get in shape so fast... I just stand there and smile.. best secret on the market!!
  27. I have used the Rack since September 2009 (1 yr. 8 mo.)It is fantastic. I don't have time to go to the gym and I don't have room for a full gym at my house. I use the Rack every day. It takes 8-10 minutes from the time I pull it out of the closet until I put it back. I do about 15 different exercises with 10-15 reps each. I get my heart moving and breath heavily. I also walk my dog 2 miles every morning and stretch/yoga for 20 minutes. I do it every day plus I eat well. It keeps me very fit. I'm 54 years old and feel like I'm 20. A little bit of exercise every day is better than nothing. The Rack allows me to lift without having to join a gym, get in my car and drive there, park, wait for machines, then drive home. It is super time-efficient. DISCLAIMER - I have no connection to the company and bought the product. I think it's great.
  28. I was also a skeptic when it came to this product. I have to be honest and say I have tried several other workout products on the market and none perform like the Rack. It only took about 10 minutes to set up and was ready to go. I am on my 2nd week and am already seeing and feeling results! This is the best workout system on the market in my opinion. Dedication and calorie count is also important but if you do not have the time to make it to the gym and still want "GREAT RESULTS" THE rack is the way to go. I'm not getting any kickbacks for this review or any notification from the company, just a consumer who is finally standing behind a product in a sea of many that do not come close or even meet the expectations of the Rack. This product on a scale of 1 - 10 is a 10 for set-up, durability, useability, & results.
  29. Thanks for the review and it is pretty much what I was thinking watching the infomercial of the rack workout program on TV. I am not convinced this is a product I want. I'd love to hear from some folks who have used it for a while.
