Bowflex TreadClimber Review

One of the newest exercise machines gaining in popularity and demand is the Bowflex Treadclimber. The tread climber exercise machine combines workouts offered by the treadmill and stair exercise machines. You’ll be moving your feet in walking motion while the tread moves up and down, emulating a stair. The machine uses two rollers (one for each foot) that alternate in moving up and down. It’s actually a very novel idea because of the combined exercises.

Bowflex TreadClimber is the latest exercise machine for tread climbing. It is manufactured by Nautilus who also manufactured one of the first tread climbers (Nautilus TreadClimber). This particular exercise machine comes in 4 options: the Bowflex TC1000, Bowflex TC3000, Bowflex TC5000 and the Bowflex TC5500. The difference is on the controls and speed. For example, the TC1000 has 3 control functions with up to 3.8mph in speed while the TC3000 has 6 functions with speed of up to 4.0 mph.A good complement to a treadclimber is a good workout best and we recommend you read what we think the best workout benches are.

Advantages of Bowflex TreadClimber

As indicated, this exercise machine easily combines stair climbing and treadmill exercises. It means calorie burn rate would nearly be twice as fast compared to basic tread mill and stair climber exercise machines. Through this machine, you’ll be walking while climbing stairs instead of simply pushing your foot down (in stair climbers) or walking (on treadmills).

Another notable advantage of the machine is its relative safety or it is a low-impact machine. Even though the machine tries to emulate stair climbing, it will never push users to bend their knees, ankles and other joints too much. This feature will even allow those who have small joint problems to exercise with machine.

Disadvantages of Bowflex TreadClimber

Although the machine is very impressive in its method of helping people lose weight, it does have some flaws. Among them is the inability to have more speed on affordable versions. As already indicated, TC1000 and TC3000 can only reach 3.8mph and 4.0mph respectively. But that speed may not be enough for those who wanted to have some serious workout since the speed in TC1000 and TC3000 is practically walking.

Some have also noted the lack of resistance which is essential in cardio exercises. But that is actually the direct effect of a low-impact exercise machine. The resistance is minimized to allow more users of the devices.

The Bowflex TreadClimber is also a machine that requires a bit of practice. Those who have worked with the treadmill should easily handle TreadClimber but could be trouble for those who will try treadmills in this machine for the first time. The pace of walking while going up and down is not easy.

Tips in Working with Bowflex TreadClimber

Bowflex TreadClimber is one amazing machine for those who doesn’t have time to hit the gym but wanted to have some intense workout at home. But out of the box, it’s not a machine that can be easily used. Assembly can be a bit challenging so you really have to read the instructions before proceeding.

Once you have completely set-up your exercise machine, give yourself time to adjust to the machine’s motion. Take note of the pace as this will help adjust to the exercise device. By understanding how the motion works, you’ll get the best out of TreadClimber in every use.
