Ab Coaster Features

This ab workout machine is made from commercial grade steel tubing, and is 51”long x 25” wide x 50” high and weighs approximately 70 pounds.  The machine itself has a digital workout counter, 1.5’ steel rails, steel bearing, easy to move casters, powder coat finish, nylon rollers, and vinyl covered molded foam pads.   It also comes with a complete workout DVD, as well as an exercise plan, fast track meal plan, and a 14 day express program.

How the Ab Coaster Works

The Ab Coaster basically mimics hanging leg raises, which is one of the hardest, but most effective stomach exercises.  To do these without a machine, you would have to hang from a parallel bar with your arms outstretched and bring your knees to your chest.  This can be a very difficult exercise to do, and it is hard on your upper body.  Your arms will likely get tired before your stomach does, which reduces the effectiveness of this exercise.

The Ab Coaster will help you do leg raises without putting the strain on your upper body or back.  It moves in an arc motion allowing your knees to come up to your chest in a natural crunching motion.  It simulates leg raises, as well as diagonal leg raises to work your obliques.

Traditional crunches work your stomach from the top down. Working your abs from the bottom up seems to be more effective, which is what the Ab Coaster does.

The Ab Coaster works your abs in three different techniques, which are:

  • Forward lift
  • Side lift
  • Free style motion

It is designed to work your core from the bottom up without using your body weight for support.   The curved track helps to prevent strain on your arms, lower back, and/or neck.  It allows you to move your abs and lower body in a smooth and non twisting movement, which will work your entire core with each rep.

Does the Ab Coaster Work?

According to consumer reviews, the Ab Coaster is a great starter ab workout machine. Consumers believe that changing your routine can be helpful when using this machine.  When you change your speeds, momentum may not take control.  Also changing the amount of reps is important.  It is recommended by consumers that you work out a few days and rest a few days to allow your muscles to recuperate.

Those who have tried the Ab Coaster say this machine does provide results; however, you must use correct form and breathing or these results can take longer.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line, the Ab Coaster appears to be a sturdy and effective ab workout machine as long as you perform the motions as instructed and use a specific breathing pattern.  There were some complaints about the digital workout counter breaking after a while because it is placed where sweat drops.

This machine does not have any specific appetite suppressants associated with it to help with weight loss; however, it does provide some valuable information for losing weight in the meal plan, as well as a fast track 14 day plan for getting fit and losing weight faster.

Another issue seems to be the price.  It runs about $400; however, this can be broken down into four monthly payments.  Shipping is free as long as you don’t return it.  You can try the Ab Coaster for $14.95 (free shipping) and be billed $99.95 for four months.  Although the price is a little high, people seem to be giving it a try.  If you return it after trial, you will have to pay the shipping; however, people feel this is fair.
