Yogalosophy - A Hybrid of Yoga and Toning Exercises

Yogalosophy is the brainchild of celebrity fitness instructor Mandy Ingber.  Stars such as Jennifer Aniston have raved about the routine, and now it is available to the public on DVD.  Since Yogalosophy is still a relatively new phenomenon, you probably have some questions you want answered before you get started with the program.  Take a moment to learn about Yogalosophy so you can decide if it is right for you.

What is Yogalosophy?

Yogalosophy is a hybrid between yoga and toning exercises. Standard workouts typically consist of yoga or tonight exercises, but Yogalosophy combines the two.  People start by doing a yoga pose. They hold that pose for several breaths, and then move into a toning exercise.  They complete several reps of the toning exercise, and then move into their next yoga pose.

For example, the instructor might start with the “boat” yoga pose, which works the abdominal muscles. She will have people hold the pose for several seconds, and then take them into an abdominal toning exercise.  This allows people to get the benefits of yoga while doing additional toning exercises.  Therefore, they will get a better workout than they would if they were just doing yoga.

Yogalosophy DVD

The yoga poses and exercises are available on the Yogalosophy DVD.  The Yogalosophy DVD includes:

  • Introduction by Jennifer Aniston
  • Two full versions of a 30 minute workout route
  • A 55 minute challenge
  • Additional yoga moves
  • A music soundtrack

The DVD was designed for beginners and experts alike.  Beginners will be able to grasp the moves, while experts will learn new moves that are not available in standard yoga classes.  Because of that, this program is popular with people of all levels.

Ingber’s Teaching Style

In addition to the yoga and toning moves available in the Yogalosophy DVDs, people will also get a heavy dose of Ingber’s teaching style.  Unlike fitness drill sergeants who require perfection from students, Ingber uses a laid-back approach.  She understands that some people will not be able to do a perfect yoga pose right off the bat, but she does not want that to hold them back. Instead, she asks that everyone do his or her best.  As long as people try the poses and move into the toning exercises, they will benefit from the program.  Thus, there is not a great deal of pressure to do everything perfectly the first time.  You will be able to learn and grow as you complete the program over and over again.

In addition, Inger is good at explaining different poses and exercises, and she uses humor and a positive attitude to motivate people.  At the same time, she is not overly chatty, so people can still enjoy the body and mind connection that comes with doing yoga without being interrupted by the instructor.

If you are in an exercise rut, consider trying Yogalosophy.  This new exercise craze will dig you out of your rut by offering you something different. You won’t have to spend another day going through the same old motions. You can try something different, and enjoy the health benefits as well.
