Trampoline Fitness - The Fun Way to Stay in Shape

Getting a good workout in can be difficult.  You have to balance work and family obligations, which means it’s nearly impossible to take off to go to the gym.  Luckily, there are options for those who don’t have the time (or money) to commit to the gym. One such option is trampoline fitness. This type of fitness has been around for years, but it has received lots of attention lately.

What is Trampoline Fitness?

Trampoline fitness is just as the name suggests. It is a fitness routine that is conducted on a trampoline.  The trampoline can be a large yard trampoline or a mini trampoline.  The large yard trampoline is great if you want to go all out with jumping, flipping and running, but the mini trampoline is a good choice if you want something that is cheap and portable.

Trampoline Fitness Exercises

No matter if you have a large or a mini trampoline, you have two exercise options. You can create your own exercises that involve lots of movement or you can follow a specific routine. If you want to use specific exercises for your trampoline fitness routine, consider including:

  • Knee raises - Lift one knee up as high as you can, touch it with your hand, and then repeat with the other knee.  See how many of these you can do at one time.
  • Jumping jacks - Do basic jumping jacks, but use the trampoline to jump with each one.  You will feel the burn much faster than you would with a traditional jumping jack, and you won’t feel the wear and tear on your knees.
  • Running in place -Use your arms and legs to run in place as hard as you can. The bouncing will make running difficult, so you will get a great workout.
  • Twist - Twist at the waist every time you bounce. This is a great way to burn that excess fat quickly and safely.

Trampoline Fitness Benefits

You might enjoy doing knee lifts, twists and the other exercises you can do with trampoline fitness, but that does not mean that you just want to do them for fun.  You want to receive some benefits when you enter into a fitness routine.  The good news is trampoline fitness has several benefits. First, this type of fitness provides people with a full body workout. That means you won’t just come out of it with great looking abs or toned arms. You can tone your entire body, since this type of exercise will work on your:

  • Core
  • Upper back
  • Lower back
  • Legs
  • Glutes

In addition, trampolines absorb a lot of the shock that plagues runners. When runners hit the pavement, they have to worry about knee issues, but people that jump on the trampoline can feel safe since trampolines absorb 80% of the shock.  That means you can get healthy without worrying about destroying your knees or other body parts.

Trampoline fitness is a great way to have fun and get in shape. You can try the different exercises or make your own up.  Either way, spend some time on the trampoline so you can begin to enjoy the benefits that come with this form of exercise.
