Yoga is an all inclusive exercise for the the entire body and the entire family. From young to old, yoga offers many health benefits of both the physical and the mental nature. Some of the best benefits of yoga includes ones that stretch far beyond the physical side of the fitness exercise. See our other Yoga Articles:

Elongated MusclesOne of the most known benefits of yoga and yoga classes are the elongation of muscles. Just about every stretch performed, no matter if it is a yoga stretch or a traditional stretch offers the muscle the change to move just a bit further pasty the level of comfortability each time. The longer you practice yoga, the longer the muscles will become and the more elongated the body, as a whole, will look.
Warming the MusclesAnother great benefit of yoga poses are the way they warm up the muscles. The muscle needs to have increased blood flow in order to warm up before other physical activity. If the muscle is not warmed, it will not stretch and move the way it may need to in order to perform in the sport of choice. For this reason, many professional athletes, including football and basketball players will practice varying forms of yoga from dahn yoga to om yoga in order to keep their muscles warm and to cool them down again after a workout.
Preventing InjuriesAlong the same lines of warming up the muscles, the yoga classes, with the help of a yoga instructor can help the athlete and the every day Joe to prevent injuries during the more physical of workouts. Yoga poses and yoga stretches increase the blood flow to the muscle and allow the muscles to move more freely on a quicker basis. This means less injuries from those tight muscles that are unstretched and cold.
Injury prevention can be beneficial for people in the workforce as well. If you work a strenuous job, make sure to warm up those muscles before work. A few brief core yoga poses can do just that in only a 10 minute session before heading off to work.
Calorie Burn for AllWhile yoga stretches and yoga moves may not seem like a great aerobic workout , there is an increased amount of calorie burn thanks to the yoga classes available to all who are interested. From the first moment you step into the yoga studio, you will notice the fact that people are sweating. Any one can break a sweat running from here to there, but the fact that many people underestimate the effects of yoga on the body is truly amazing. Yoga is a tough exercise but well worth the stretch.
To increase the calorie burn of treadmill and other aerobic exercises, yoga can be used to warm the muscles before the cardio workout begins. When walking on a treadmill, for instance, the first 15 minutes on the treadmill are wasted by warming up the legs and burning off the carbohydrate stores of the body. But, when you start the workout with a few yoga stretches, the muscles will be warm and ready and you will get a true cardio workout from the first step.
Improved Health Yoga helps to not only make the body healthier, longer and leaner, but it also calms the mind. There are two reasons why the mind is more calmer during and after yoga. The first has to do with the time spent in the yoga studio. Many yoga classes are 60 minutes long, or more. During this time, there is often no talking with just the subtle undertones of yoga music in the background.
The other reason is the fact that yoga forces the poser to focus on the mind and the body as one. The core solidity of the body needs to be balanced and that requires a mental focus beyond all others.
Mental BalanceThe mental balance associated with yoga is profound. The class will begin with breathing exercises to relieve any stress that may have been brought into the room. Throughout the workout, there is a center thought of peace that allows the body to move fluidly, stretch farther than ever before and hold those stretches with the utmost of strength.
Throughout the yoga poses, the yoga instructor or yoga teacher will walk around the yoga class and remind everyone to breathe and breathe deeply. One of the most calming and healing abilities of the body is the deep breathing exercises used to focus in the practice of yoga. The more you focus on your center of your chi, the more you will be able to reap the benefits of your yoga instruction.
Time For YouThe most important part of any fitness routine would have to be the alone time you get from doing something juts for you. Life is full of stress and time parameters. The time we spend at the gym is often also filled with the stresses of body builders and machine hogs. Yoga is different. Yoga classes alone you to focus on your own self, your own body and your own fitness levels. No one will be turned away as yoga instructors and yoga classes are aimed at all yoga fitness levels. You get the chance to remove yourself from the outside world for an our a day and return to the place that matters more than any other place on Earth, inside of you.
The benefits of practicing yoga on a daily basis include body benefits, fitness benefits, injury prevention benefits and mental benefits. But, above all other benefits of yoga are those that are less than physical. The time we spend in the calm atmosphere of the yoga studio, not matter if it is a yoga studio in San Francisco, a yoga studio in Chicago or a yoga studio in New York, that time is our time. And in our world of time crunches, there is certainly not enough of our time to go around.
