| kenny | I have been doing the P90x program for 1 month now – I can say this program is by far the best program out there for the fastest results possible. I am no stranger in working out, I have been going to the gym for the past 15 years. Doing the P90X program is intense, complete and powerful. This program is not for everyone; if you never worked out before then this would not be for you. | 2007-10-18 22:02:48 |
| Rodney | I am a Non-believer in basically ALL info-mercials, and would\'ve probably never purchased this program, but my roommate did, and we started it a week ago. I Played basketball in college and in Europe, and these workouts, using the right resistance and following the steps true to form will kick your ass. I love it, and the Plyometrics, I\'ve done numerous in College, but these are by far the hardest, I was sore for 2 days. This is a great program, and although I\'m trying to gain weight, and not lose it, this program is phenominal. Just have to stick with it though, because you will want to stop sometimes. | 2008-07-11 09:40:01 |
| Josh | I have to agree with Kenny, I\'m on month 2 now and I\'m probably in the best shape of my life. I love the Kempo (punches & kicks), it\'s way better than Aerobics. Also, I love the fact that you don\'t really need a lot of exercise equipment. I have a pull-up bar($30) 2 sets of dumb-bells ($30) and a set of push-up bars ($15). That\'s it! How much is a gym membership?? | 2007-11-16 13:49:00 |
| Jason Poad | to do this workout do you have to be in the best shape of your life or can you be a little overweight. | 2008-01-03 07:00:59 |
| David Spellman | You do not need to be in the best shape of your life. What you need to do is take as much as you can for each program and work yourself up. Don\'t try to do the full work out at their pace. Work up to it and the p90x will work for you. | 2008-01-03 13:27:09 |
| Kenny | I think there are 2 dvds - 12 different workouts. first 3 weeks you have a routine then week 4 is a more or less, cardio week. Month 2 is the same thing with dif workouts. I love this program, it reminds me of Bruce Lee\'s theory on fighting. He believes mastering 1 way of fighting is the wrong way but you know them all. P90x is that way, you are not doing one type of workout but several. The muscle confusion is also the most important factor of the program. If you have ever worked out in the gym and did the same routine, did you stop getting results and got bored? You won\'t get bored in this program. | 2008-01-06 12:53:35 |
| charles | I really dont see how the program works do you do 1 dvd for a week then go to dvd 2? | 2008-01-05 23:28:21 |
| Dineen | I have done 2 weeks of P90X and I already see results! I am already fairly athletic but have gained about 12 lbs in the past few months. I have already lost 5 lbs on the program. I follow the diet quite strictly though. Every time I do a workout video I feel stronger. This is by far the best work out program I have ever done, and I have worked with trainers. I am excited to see what the end result will be. | 2008-01-14 21:55:35 |
| dmiles | I have reviewed many different home exercise programs over the years and this one is the \"bomb\". I have a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology and have worked out for over 25 years. I have been on this program for 2 weeks and have seen the most amazing results that I have in my lifetime. I can\'t wait to get to day 90 and see the difference. You won\'t go wrong getting this program if you are committed to making a change. | 2008-01-15 15:43:21 |
| Aadil | Hey Kenny, don\'t mean to be a stickler but Bruce\'s philosophy was the way of no way. Find what works for you and use it. But i\'m just starting to get into the p90x. It looks pretty good so far. I wonder how different or drastic is the change/workout as compared to HIIT, )high intensity interval training) or Turbulence training (as done by the actors in the movie 300) | 2008-01-16 15:47:46 |
| Kenny | Thanks for the correction Aadil... I guess doing this is not becoming a master of any type of workout. You just have to mix it up. I am one of the admins on this site - I can setup some space for P90X users to add before/after pictures if you like. I will add a poll to see if you are interested. I\'m finally starting back my P90x (2nd time). Summer will be here before you know it! I\'m in my first week and I already feel pumped. I haven\'t been to my gym in over 6 months and would rather do this program. | 2008-01-18 09:47:43 |
| clj | P90x is an excellent program but I wanted to make one point: you have to be able to commit to the time necessary: meaning on average 45 minutes to an hour each day for 6 days. Also, for some, even if you pass the fitness test, it may take you a bit to get through the entire DVD, just listen to your body and work yourself up, you will get there. Lastly, you will see results quickly but clean eating is important as well, I think after one week my clothes were getting looser. Definitely a good program. | 2008-01-21 11:47:31 |
| John Yi | I think it would be cool to have a p90x poll to see if any interest on posting pictures. Might be a good inspiration to people like me not in the total fitness mode but would like to get there. p90x seems quite difficult if not in good shape. | 2008-01-22 13:22:22 |
| X.Hines | Hey guys, let me tell you another benefit of the p90x programs. I\'m a very tall and thin guy, it\'s been that way all my life. I\'m 28yrs old and was only able to gain weight during my 8yrs of active duty. I lost 27lbs after I discharged from the military over a 2 yr time span. This program took me my body back to its familiar \"guerilla\" drill workouts. I gained 11 lbs of my former muscle mass in 3 weeks. Yeah its hard and yeah its requires dedication, you\'ll love the results!! | 2008-01-23 11:42:39 |
| Woody | i have no doubt that this program is great. I need to know more on the routine works. When i look online it says it is a 13 dvd set. How is it schedueled. Do you put in one dvd per work out? Can you explain a little more for me? | 2008-01-28 01:13:15 |
| John | I would like to know more about the p90x nutrition plan. There is no information I can find anywhere. Can someone post that information please? | 2008-01-28 08:36:33 |
| Kenny | Woody, You basically do these workouts this is in order from Monday to Sunday of first week: <strong>Mon-chest/back, Tue Plyometrics(Aerobic), Wed- Shoulders & Arms, Thur- Yoga X, Fri-Legs & Back, Sat-Kenpo X, Sun- X Stretch (or rest).</strong> This goes on until end of week 3. Week 4 you take out the weightlifting exercises and replace them with Core Synergistics.(one of my favorites!) Month 2 - You replace the weightlifting exercises with <strong>Mon-Chest,Shoulders and Triceps, Wed- Back & Biceps, (These are different workouts then the first month.)</strong> Again, week 4 of 2nd month, replace weightlifting with Core Synergistics. In all, should be around 12 exercises. I hope this helps. | 2008-01-28 08:55:48 |
| Woody | Kenny Thats the answer i was looking for. I have another question: I already have a power tower where i can do chin ups and i have push-up bars but im not sure what weights to buy? thx | 2008-01-28 10:49:23 |
| Kenny | I bought 2 sets - light weight for some triceps (10lbs)and a second set for shoulders/curls (25lbs). I prob need to buy one more set (35lbs) because the 25lbs are getting a little light for my shoulder exercises. You don\'t need a complete set. | 2008-01-28 11:58:38 |
| Kenny | Hi Anne and welcome - I don\'t believe you would need to \"give up\" your cardio classes but I would recommend you cut out some. Out of the 6 days, you do 2 cardio sessions. Plyometrics and Kempo. You could substitute your spin class for Plyometrics for example. I actually do not do Plyometrics because it involves a lot of jumping and I have messed up my knees playing too much volleyball in my 20\'s so I substitute that day with either biking, swimming or even Kempo. I highly recommend you do not skip Yoga or Kempo. Both are very good workouts that really helps you go over that plateau. I never thought I would ever say that Yoga was good until I did this program. I also love Kempo - You really feel great once you are finish with the workout. Also, If you are looking at maybe getting leaner you could always do a cardio workout instead of one of their weightlifting days. It\'s really up to you. Good luck | 2008-01-31 19:27:06 |
| Gman | Hi Tom, Kenny and I both run this site, I am glad you have found this very informative for p90x. We are trying to cover a lot of topics and definitely thought more info about p90x was needed. Glad we could fill a void! | 2008-01-31 17:47:47 |
| Anne | OK,I\'m almost sold. Ii have been working out for 6 years, 6 days a week but I must admit I seem to have plateaued. Can I still incorporate my spin class, step class and running into this program or do I have to give them up for 90 days to stay strict to the program? | 2008-01-31 17:50:19 |
| Tom | Kenny, is this your site or are just a blogger? This site is \'the\' most informative one found for people considering P90... thanks! | 2008-01-31 16:52:21 |
| Kenny | All - If anyone is interested I have a excel spreadsheet that tracks your progress through out your 90 days. I find this easier rather than jotting it down on paper that is provided by the program. If people request it I will make a download page on this site. here it is Time to workout! Peace! | 2008-03-24 12:50:18 |

| Jacob | Hey Kenny!, I,m 19 and have lost alot of weight in the past from wrestling for my high school. but wrestling isnt toning my chest or abs. What can the P90X do for me in these areas? | 2008-02-04 09:38:09 |
| Jordan | I got the DVDs from a friend, but he didnt tell me when to use which DVDs. Could someone tell me what the schedule for the DVD\'s is for each week? Thanks. | 2008-02-04 20:57:54 |
| kenny | Guys - I\'ve posted some answers to the forum. P90x We are getting spammed a lot in these comments. | 2008-02-05 07:11:03 |
| Gman | With so many interested in p90x I hope the forum area helps! Thanks for the spreadsheet kenny! PS: We have a new verification process where you have to add two numbers. BE WARNED if you don\'t do the right math it will remove all you typed to start over. What I do is copy/paste the comments to notepad just in case. :p | 2008-02-05 07:43:58 |
| Jake | I dont eat alot of food when im lifting of running and i think its hurting me. Im about to buy the P90X program and i would like to know what types of foods i will be eating for the program before i buy it. Do yall know what it is i should be eating for both cases(lifting and P90X)? | 2008-02-07 21:07:23 |
| Kenny | Jake, You can read our review on the p90x Nutrition food review. http://www.weightloss-hq.biz/exercise-reviews/p90x-nutrition-plan.html | 2008-02-07 22:55:57 |
| BALA | Iam new to work out . Daily i run 3 miles in treadmill and light weights for 30 min . Iam seeing no results .. I want to tone up my body before summer starts . Iam 33, 152 lbs , 5\'7\" .. Do you think P90 will help me ? Thanks in advance | 2008-03-14 21:20:32 |
| Glenn | Hi Bala, It can definitely help you. It is fantastic. I also just saw a sale of P90X on QVC for 130$ so there are sales going on, don\'t spend full 200$. Please see our P90X Forum -- Lots of users there can help give advice and answer more questions. | 2008-03-15 07:31:24 |
| nox | Would it be better to start out with P90, and after finishing that move on to P90x? I don\'t think I could start out with P90x, but I thought maybe the P90 would be a good stepping stone. | 2008-03-23 16:13:34 |
| kenny | Nox, If you are not used to working out then yes, I would start the P90 program. Good luck and come to the P90X forum - We have lots of users here who are willing to help out. | 2008-03-23 21:24:10 |
| Eric | I\'m definitely thinking about doing this program but when the 90 days is over do you just start the workout all over again and just keep repeating it for the future? | 2008-03-23 21:27:28 |
| kenny | You can repeat the 90 days or at least until you find the P90X is no longer a challenge - Once you are at the level, you can do the P90X Plus which has more advance moves. | 2008-03-25 07:28:08 |
| charles | I started the program last week,in fair shape...guess what...ITS FRIGGIN\' HARD!!! I decided to take a step back and i\'m doing the cardio x and ab ripper x this week to loosen myself up better, then i plan to restart on monday the 31st of march....by the way, on a pennypincher note, I bought the beachbody pull up bars and its great, but I saw pretty much the same one in big 5 today for about 20 bucks less. | 2008-03-25 20:52:39 |
| kenny | Yes it\'s hard... You will eventually love it after a while and enjoy the results. Good idea about doing some routines first. Come join the party in the forum, this has helped a lot of P90X users stay motivated! P90X forum | 2008-03-26 09:35:22 |
| Seb Warren | Im starting this P90X this monday (31st march) I should see good results because im no stranger to working out (been doing weights on and off for nearly a year) | 2008-03-27 11:14:31 |
| Sean | About to buy P90X - but note all the talk is about resistance bands, dumbells, and a chin-up bar. Is there any info about converting the P90X workouts for use with a multi-station gym (pulldown bar, leg curl/extension station, etc). I\'d like to use the equipment I already own (Bowflex) for the P90X routines if possible. Thanks. | 2008-03-29 11:40:12 |
| Glenn | Hi Sean, Yes - there are people in the forum who have done this and even discussion about taking p90x with you to the gym on an ipod. | 2008-03-29 12:35:30 |
| Bob | The gym I belong to has a yoga room with a TV/DVD and I\'m able to use it. Thinking P90X. But, there\'s no pull up bar in this room, limited dumb bells. Suggestions? Obviously there are dumb bells at the gym but how many and how heavy? I\'m in good shape, but could be in alot better. | 2008-03-30 05:21:36 |
| Les | i\'d use the resistance bands, hopefully you can hang em up somewhere to do your pullups, it would also facilitate your limited weights issues | 2008-03-30 09:09:36 |
| Bob | Thanks Les. I will check out the pull up/chin up bar routines within P90X and possibly could run to the other side of the gym to crank out sets. There are many options for the pull up bar at the place. | 2008-03-30 10:21:25 |
| ES | How many times per week should I do the plyometrics video? | 2008-03-31 17:18:56 |
| PK | I have been thinking of starting the program for some time now. I recently had knee surgery (in January) and wondering if I can tailor the program for my level (not to put too much stress on the knee)...does anyone know? Also, does this put a lot of stress on the shoulders? Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks | 2008-03-31 18:07:13 |
| kenny | Plyometrics is done once a week for the first 3 weeks. In week 4 (cool down week) you don\'t do Plyo. PK - I have 2 bad knees and don\'t do Plyo - I substitute Kenpo instead. You can tailor to your situation. Shoulders? Well... Yea, you work it out once a week. | 2008-03-31 21:05:19 |
| Michel | I have a lat pulldown machine at home. Can I use it instead of doing chin-ups? BTW: This is a very useful site\\forum. | 2008-04-03 08:14:40 |
| kenny | Hello Michel, I don\'t see why not as long as you are close to failure while doing the pull downs. The program also uses the bands as well - You just need to track the number of reps and increase the weight. | 2008-04-03 13:42:38 |
| Omar | hey guys, quick question, I am following the diet step by step but what I don\'t see is the drinks in the meals. I know we are suppose to drink water, but what can I drink instead of water that will not affect my diet. Omar | 2008-04-03 14:28:15 |
| dallas_jayhawk | I intend to order p90x from their website. Any recommendations on the pull up bar and free weights ? I was thinking about ordering perfect pull up. Any cheaper/effective alternatives. As far as dumbbells are concerned, I can do curls with 30 lbs. Would it be better to buy the adjustable weight dumbbells or a set of 25 lbs and a set of 35 lbs.. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks | 2008-04-03 19:13:03 |
| kenny | I use the Beachbody pull up bare - It works well and it can hold me up with out any problems. I\'m not sure if there are any cheaper than the one from BeachBody. I have 2 sets of dumbells that I use. I was afraid to get the adjustable set because there are routines where you need to use one set then another one. I\'m not sure how fast you can change the weight so its your call. Good luck. | 2008-04-03 21:51:53 |
| Charles W. Hodges | You can get the same p/u bar from academy or big 5 for about $30. I have the beachbody bar, and I like it but looked at academys the other day and its the same quality. I also use individual db\'s. Tried just using the band, but I don\'t like the feel. | 2008-04-04 15:46:00 |
| kenny | Brandon, I would just continue for another 90 days and so on. | 2008-02-14 12:39:30 |
| ze | guys i have done p90x on and off, starting up again tomorrow...if you stick with it, you will see results. i have trained with several different trainers, gyms, took all kinds of pills, but i had never seen results as good as when i did p90x for 3 weeks straight and watched my diet. it really, really works. | 2008-03-11 01:33:48 |
| Omar | hey guys, do you or anyone else have a log of what they eat, I think it will be easier to follow the diet by looking at what someone else ate. I don\'t kow if someone has one or where can I go and look at examples of meals from the p90x diet program. I have the book but I want to see how others are eating. | 2008-03-11 08:50:09 |
| Glenn | People are now putting recipes they are using on their P90x routines. Visit our forum for more info on that. | 2008-03-11 08:56:42 |
| Marko | I\'m 28, 6\'5\" and 160lbs. In other words tall and skinny. I\'ve also been a smoker for 10 years, but have just recently quit. I decided to start exercising (for the first time in my life) along with quitting smoking (helps me keep my mind off it). So I\'ve been swimming, but I just can\'t make it to the pool more than once or twice a week (too far away). My goal is just to rebuild my lung capacity, a little tone, and maybe gain 20 lbs. Would this program be right for me? Or could anyone suggest something more appropriate? Also, is there some good place where I could find a diet to adopt in conjunction with the exercise that\'d help me gain weight? thank you | 2008-02-21 19:26:45 |
| Kenny | Marko, The P90x program would be ideal for you. You would just need to make sure and do the 8 to 10 reps rather then the 11 to 15 reps while doing teh weight lifting days(heavier wieghts). Also, I know this is a cliché, but you would need to eat more carbs. With the different cardio exercises included, Kempo, yoga, Plyo, you will be in your best shape of you life. | 2008-02-22 12:25:16 |
| MAtt | I was wondering if you also do gym work outs with the P90X, like going bench press and squats. I just dont see how not doing flat, inc bench press will help you gain muscle and strength. Thanks | 2008-02-24 12:29:49 |
| Brett | I\'m sixteen and 6 foot 1 165 lbs. I\'m pretty skinny and am wondering if I were to try this if it would help to build a lot of muscle. I play basketball and tennis and am pretty athletic and active, but can\'t ever really bulk up. Would this program solve my problem? | 2008-02-24 21:19:44 |
| Omar | Hey Guys, I am gonna start on the P90X program, how important are the supplements (pills, recover drinks, energy bars, etc ) Omar | 2008-02-25 10:42:43 |
| kenny | Matt, I wouldn\'t recommend going to the gym during your 90 days. Believe me, when you do the first day of \"chest & Back\" workout - Your chest will be sore as s**t the next day. Brett- This program will give you muscles and flexibility and stamina. Omar - I\'m not to big on the pills etc. If you eat right and take some multi vitamin, you should be fine. | 2008-02-26 08:29:30 |
| max | I am 6\'5\", and 180 pounds. I am glad to see so many other tall skinny guys are having success with p90x. I started three days ago, and I was (until now) a bit discouraged by its emphasis on weight loss. I am hoping to gain about 20 pounds. If anyone has any tips on how to gear my workouts towards muscle building I would really appreciate it. | 2008-02-29 04:51:02 |
| Edro | My wife, 27, and myself, 40, are very interested in the P90x system. I have worked out in the past and tend to be very intense at it once I get started on the routine. I\'m roughly 20lbs overweight(19 years in a patrol car)and havnt worked out in over 2 years. Is this system for me??? I want so desperately to pass a P.T, exam to get a better job. It requires running. Does the P90x give any instruction on doing any running with the workout?? And push ups are a must on the test. | 2008-03-01 07:31:05 |
| kenny | Max, While working out you would need to go with heavier weights and do the 8-10 reps. You would also need to eat a bit more. Your muscles will grow. Edro, It really depends on what kind of shape you are in. 20lbs overweight is not that bad :) . If you have worked out before then I would say it would be right for you. The program doesn\'t do any type of running. You basically do 6 days of different types of exercises. As for passing the test for push ups, let\'s say you will be a master of push ups if you do the 90 days of p90x. Good luck | 2008-03-01 21:10:41 |
| Tricia | Hey guys (and gals), I am about to start P90X and I am pumped. I have been doing Turbo Jam for quite some time now and I love Chalene and the group but I think I want to take my workout to the next level...my question for you all is this....is there another \"drink\" that is similar to the P90X Recovery drink...Tony emphasizes how important this is but being new to weight training I am unsure....any info would be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance! | 2008-03-02 08:33:18 |
| Scott | I am on day 2 and WOW, burn burn burn. I am 34 years old and can\'t wait to have a beach body. But of course I have to stick to the diet. I have yet to hear a lot about alcohol drinks? Not everyone can cut this out of a diet. If I were to drink say 1 weekend night what should I have? If I have beer, should I just take those calories into consideration and lack on calories earlier in the day. | 2008-03-04 13:24:24 |
| Denita | Hello, I\'m a 21 yr old female and I love working out. I\'m 5\'6 and 125 lbs. If you saw me, you could tell that I work out. I currently have a 4 pack, but I want more definition in my stomach and calfs. Watching the informercial, I know that the P90X will help me in those areas. To maintain I have to continue after the 90 days, but I don\'t want to get too muscular. After the 90 days would it be ok to cut down on the workouts someor the intensity, so that I\'m still following the workouts to a certain extent? Don\'t want to do all the work and lose muscle afterwards or get too big (muscle wise). Thank you | 2008-03-05 06:46:52 |

I know I can\'t do the jumping parts, knee won\'t do it but I want to get in shape and look good NAKED!!! Do you think I can do this? | 2008-03-07 18:49:05 |

| brandon | Well, from what I gather the reason this routine is different from others is because it is anything but routine. If however one were to repeat the work out. It seems to me the effectiveness of muscle confusion would have diminishing returns. | 2008-02-14 21:31:09 |
| marques | wow, I just bought p90x and I\'m waiting to receive it in the mail, and I\'ve been looking at all kinds of success stories and forums and this was so helpful. I think I\'ll be extremely in depth documenting my future transformation to motivate others as I have been. I can\'t wait to start. | 2008-02-16 01:58:11 |
| Glenn | Hey Marques, Please do document in our forum how it goes for you and there are others there just starting p90x so its a good place to discuss things as you go! Visit our P90X Forum area. | 2008-02-16 08:11:58 |
| Tanya | Just bought p90x waiting for it to come in the mail, me any my boyfriend decided to buy it and do it together, neither of us are in great shape, how long does it usually take for you to be able to keep up with the dvd? love the site thanks | 2008-02-19 07:31:35 |
| Amanda | I\'m on week 2 of P90X, and I have already seen results. I\'m pretty in shape (I\'ve run 2 marathons in the past two years), but this workout kicks your butt! I love that it\'s a series of different workouts, so that I don\'t get bored. The Kenpo is my favorite. I\'m 29, 5\'6 and weigh 152, and I have no problem with the workout. | 2008-03-12 13:57:23 |
| kenny | Hello Tanya! Thanks for the comment on the site! Each person will adjust differently - When my first run of the program, it took me at least 3 weeks. If you are not in the best shape you will be sore and hurting after the first week or two but don\'t give up. In week three you will start seeing results and feeling much better! Good luck and post your progress at the P90X forum.P90X Forum | 2008-02-19 09:16:45 |
| Charles W. Hodges | I just woke up and its Day 2. Wow are my back and chest sore but it feels great. I would say I\'m in decent shape. Never worked out before but played sports my whole life. I\'m maybe 5 pounds over weight and its just belly fat. How long do you think till I see some results? I\'m not following the nutrition plan but I plan on eating a lot of protein my 1st week or 2 and just eating a low carb healthy diet for the rest of the time. PS. Sorry Charles, but it wouldnt let me change my name ^ | 2008-04-08 09:10:31 |
| Omar | Hey Guys, I am starting my second week and am following the diet step by step; the soreness is going away by now, how long do you think it will take for me to see some results. Omar | 2008-04-08 09:24:57 |
| Prego Lady | Looking for advice, We just ordered P90X and I just entered my second trimester. I\'m in very good shape and health now, and I wonder if a professional can tell me if P90X is safe during pregnancy. Also, is there a way to alter the workouts for me so that they might not be too strenuous on my belly and lower back? Lastly, what equipment do we need to purchase for the program? Thanks! | 2008-04-12 17:17:21 |
| Ritchel Lawson | Well I oredered the P90x a couple of days ago. I\'m in the Marines and of course you have to watch your weight. So I figured since I\'m 205 and I need to be down to 184 to make my weight I could try this out. Would any one know how much I would weigh in about 3 months. I\'m really excited for this. I hope I get to 170 or less. I was about 150 coming out of boot camp and that was skinney. Hopefully this will be a success. | 2008-04-09 14:53:01 |
| Torrey | Don\'t worry about how much weight you will use. If they still tape measure for waivers, you should make it that way.I\'m new to the program myself but not working out.Remember, when you work out,you lose the fat,but muscle weighs more. I\'m guessing to make 184 you\'re 6\'0 or 6\'1. You should have no problem. SEMPER FI!!! | 2008-04-09 15:15:35 |
| keep | thinking about getting this program after reading the comments on this site but had a couple of questions - i have a couple of old sports injuries - ruptured achilles and lower back - and wanted to see what precautions I should take before starting this. 2nd question is, does this help with running endurance. Thanks in advance for the replies. | 2008-04-13 20:16:24 |
| Jesse | I am on day 3 of the p90x workout and I can already feel it. The only problem is that I can\'t get the pull up bar they gave me mounted in my doorway. I might go and buy a different one. I\'ve worked out for a while but the \"jumping cardio routine\" killed me yesterday. I am really excited about this workout but it is really not for the \"faint of heart!\" | 2008-04-14 11:39:35 |
| kenny | Prego Lady, I don\'t think you should do this program but you may want to talk to your Dr. Keep, I have a bad back and bad knees and I still do the program. I believe it has helped my back because you build up your stomach which supports your back better. | 2008-04-14 11:51:11 |
| Sandi | Hi there, I just purchased p90x and can\'t wait to get it. My question is I also purchased the results and recovery formula. Is this worth the money and is there any other supplements you recommend? Thank you so much | 2008-04-15 16:47:33 |
| winnie | hi i ordered p90x several days ago and am just waiting for it to arrive. ive tried just about every diet out there and i cant seem to stick to one. i lost 10 lbs doing weight watchers and busting my a*s with cardio everyday. im 20 years old, 5\'1, 120 lbs and wish to lose 15 lbs and tone up. i already have some muscle because ive had personal trainers in the past and ive been a member of a gym for over 3 years. judging by my statistics and goals, how long would u predict it will take for me to see significant results? im very impatient when it comes to things like this and i get discouraged easily. any suggestions/motivational tips would be much appreciated. thanks! | 2008-04-15 20:20:20 |
| Kyle | Winnie, You will be amazed after 90 days! I finished my 90 days 2 weeks ago, and lost 14 lbs and 3 inches off my waistline. So I just started a new set of 90 days. Just keep on it. You\'ll have days when you feel tired and will make excuses not to press on, so just throw those thoughts away and get yourself moving! It\'s very important. You\'ll find that the exercises you do in the program will be much more rigorous and effective than any exercises at the gym. I can guarantee it! Best wishes! | 2008-04-15 21:48:06 |
| Mike | Hello, I\'ve ordered P90X and am waiting for it to arrive. I\'ve played football for my school so I\'m no stranger to working out. I\'ve also read about how hard the routines are, but I think I\'ll be able to stick with it giving the best I got. I\'m pretty excited, but I do have a few questions: 1. Will this really improve my performance on the field? 2. I\'ve read how there\'s different kinds of workouts (doubles, classic, lean). What exactly is each for? What kind of results will I receive from each? 3. I honestly don\'t want to look too ripped like my governor Arnold, but I would like to look buff/muscular. Any advice on that? I know I had more questions than that, I\'ll ask them when I remember. | 2008-04-16 20:15:38 |
| Kyle | Hi Mike, I believe your performance on the field will certainly improve. You\'ll find your flexibility and durability will show the most improvement, so this will help you stay healthy during the football season. The different workouts depend on your goals. The Doubles workout are for folks who want to get in great shape pretty quickly. It works for athletes who are trying to prepare for the season. If you have time during the day to do one workout in the morning and another in the late afternoon, then Doubles is for you. The Classic workout combines the muscle-building and cardio exercises efficiently. This is what most people do since it\'s very difficult to find time to do the Doubles workout. The Lean workout focuses more on cardio and fat-shredding. You still do a couple of days of muscle-building, but the focus is on cardio. I think you have the ability to look great in 90 days. I don\'t think you have anything to worry about looking too ripped like Governor Terminator as long as you\'re not taking any unnecessary \"help\", if you know what I mean. The program will take you where you want to be headed. You, and others around you, will certainly see more definition in your muscles after 90 days. Just be sure not to just do the workouts...The diet is key also. | 2008-04-17 08:43:15 |
| Gabrielle | I know someone asked about being a little overweight and starting this program, but I am 5\'1 and weighing in at 167 pounds. I\'ve tried gym motivation and it hasn\'t worked for me. This program sounds intense but rewarding. The only problem is that I\'m unsure that I will be able to do it at my size. Don\'t get me wrong, I\'m only 22, I have no health problems or injuries, but I mean I am 167 pounds. Can p90x help me? | 2008-04-17 19:42:16 |
| gman | YES it can help you. You need to check out our forums and the transformation people have. It is also a great place to ask REAL people how they do it, so go over to our forum, but p90x and join the transformation club. (Forum menu link at top of article and off main menu at top of page). | 2008-04-17 20:41:48 |
| Torrey | Ok so same here, im actually 250, but im 6 feet tall flat so im fairly chubby, except im getting to the point where i dont want to be. i lift weights as part of a class at school, im 17, so im just wondering if this program will really help me. will it help me lose all this fat, get six pack abs, what exactly will it do and WILL i be able to do it? also should i accompany it with running or would that be bad? please get back to me! much appreciated! | 2008-04-20 16:43:32 |
| Charles | My name is Charles T and I am just a regular guy. Torrey, Very good question. This program is designed to help you and your body type. The only thing you need is a strong mind. I am on my 6th week. The routines are hard but Tony explains before and during each workout how to modifiy if you are struggling and how to add extra as you get more advance. Go to the forum and read some of the threads and you will find people just like you and I doing this together and helping each other with any questions. Hope to see you in there with some more questions | 2008-04-23 08:34:35 |
| Joanna | P90X is not for beginners. You can get a good idea if you\'re ready by taking the P90X fit test on their website to self-evaluate if you’re ready for it or not. My advice is to start by purchasing a lower level product such as Power 90. I started by doing Power 90. There are two different levels that take you from not in shape to in shape. Also, I really see this as the exersize portion of your program. For nutrition I went with Weight Watchers. The combo has allowed me to lose 60 lbs and am in better shape that I\'ve ever been. Most programs will work if you actually do them; the trick is finding something that works for YOU and your lifestyle. PS I don’t work for them or have any vested interest. | 2008-04-27 14:23:55 |
| richard | how does this program work? I notice that there are twelve dvd\'s. Do youdo a different workout everyday or a certain number of workouts per 2 week periodor what? Also does anybody know where I can get the chin up bar and resistance bands? Do i need the push up[ things as well | 2008-05-17 18:22:37 |
| ryan d | hey guys ive read the comments and nothing realll applies to me. i am 20 years old, 6\'1 315 lbs but very atheletic for my size (basketball and football in highschool). i have been working out at the gym for the past two months and have lost 20 lbs. if i have a good mindset, will i be able to do this program(my friend recently bought it and asked me if i wanted to start with him)please respond and be totally honest i dont need any sugar coated bulls**t thanks alot | 2008-04-30 04:18:39 |
| Les | this is for people who are already working out, like you. In order to see the results you see in the infomercial the requirement is that you already be fit, this is advanced workout. in other words the more fit you are the better result you\'ll get. I know they\'re selling the 90days thing but you should think beyond 90 days | 2008-04-25 01:49:38 |
| Omar | This is for people who are already working out, before I started the program, I am very into sports, regularly worked out, in other words I am active and still like this the program is very tough. I just completed my 1 month and I already lost 10 lbs and went from 36\" waist to 34\"; I am very motivated and can\'t wait for day 90. | 2008-04-25 08:56:19 |
| Diana | Is this a good program if you have 50lbs to lose? | 2008-04-26 10:20:13 |
| Phil | Hi guys/girls, i\'ve read alot of posts and im going to try to answer most of them here. P90x comes with a stack of 12 cd\'s in a case, each CD is a specific workout, here is a few examples -Chest and back -Plyometrics(jump training) -kenpo(Martial art) -Back and biceps -etc.. In the p90x box also comes two magazines, one is the nutrition plan and the other, is the P90X magazine, wich is all you need to know about P90x. Such as how it works, wich workouts to do on wich day etc... This program is very well divided, its three months long, thus, divided into three parts, each part is four weeks long. your first three weeks of every part will be the extreme workout phase,(six days per week) you have one cd (all around one hour long) to do every day except one day off. after three weeks of taking a pounding you have one week to cool down (you still have workouts to do , but they are less intence). this week is called the recovery week. then, using \"muscle confusion\", just when ure body was starting to adapt, your workouts will change, thus, giving your body a blattant slap in the face and screwing it over, making it work harder. and this is why the program is so effective. Im 15 going on 16 and I bought this to get me in shape for hockey season, it sure as hell done it for me, im going into my second month and ive gained 7 pounds of muscle and my arms have gotten like twice the size they used to be. This program is good for you if your a little overwight, would like to tone up some body parts, or if your already fit and want to gain great muscle mass, in other words if you want to be fit to the extreme, this is for you. | Craig | What happens at the end of the 90 day period? Do you continue the program? And also, I\'m going on vacation for 12 days, will it be detrimental if I stop the program while on vacation? | 2008-06-04 12:42:46 |
| Puldude | Guys, I sold my company 8 months ago and have gained roughly 25 lbs since. At 6\'1\" I wiegh in at 225lbs most days. I have grown lazy as well as out in the mid section. At 44 yrs, is this where I should start? I can afford the 45min-1hour per day. | 2008-06-06 20:15:47 |
| kenny | Puldude, It\'s never too late. I\'m hitting 40 this year and I am now in the best shape of my life. The P90x program is intense but if you stick to it you will see results. Come and join the forum, we have many users there willing to help out. Look at my before after pictures and you will get the idea. Good luck. | 2008-06-06 22:05:42 |
| kenny | Craig, You can continue the P90X or do the P90X plus. I\'m at the month day 150 something right now. | 2008-06-06 22:08:37 |
| adam | Wow is all I can say. I know it is cliche, but I was up early on a Saturday morning and saw the P90x infomercial. But it wasn\'t until the second time I saw it that I decided to order it. Finally it came, along with the chin up bar, and bands. I only started a week ago and I have lost 2 pounds. Doesn\'t sound like much, but let me tell you this. I have never anticipated working out everday like I do now. When I started I was 6\'0\" 214lbs I am only 24 years old. I have always been athletic, played sports all my life, but ever since I got my new job 10 months ago I have put on A LOT of weight, mainly because of fast food. You don\'t have to be in the best shape of your life to do this workout. It kicks my butt and I love it! But don\'t just count on the exercise you need to watch what you eat as well. It is hard for me, because I have the biggest sweet tooth, but it is a must. I can\'t wait to start seeing real results. I have my before pics posted on my bedroom wall so it disgusts me every morning I wake up and night I go to bed. It is a real motivater. I hope you enjoy. I love it! | 2008-06-10 16:17:37 |
| DEREK | i agree with everything he said. i\'ve ran track/football/baseball and i\'ve never felt/looked so good. i recommended it, as long as you have about an hr. and a half a day. IT\"S WELL WORTH IT! DO PYLOMETRICS AND JOGGING WILL BECOME A JOKE :). IT\'S HEAD TO TOE FITNESS, YOU HIT EVERY PART OF YOUR ENTIRE BODY ATLEAST ONCE A WEEK. | 2008-06-13 13:11:35 |
| glenn | Jack - Yes you will definitely benefit. You gain muscle mass on the program. I highly recommend you visit our forums here, do before pictures, then pictures after each 30 days. Also do measurements. You will be very surprised how much you progress in only 90 days. | 2008-07-07 09:47:24 |
| Jack | so im 17 years old and 6 feet tall and way 150 but i dont really have much muscle at all and i was wondering if i should get this program. i saw it on tv one morning and thought maybe i should get it. ever since ive been reading about it but still havent decided. any help would be great. Thx | 2008-07-06 18:30:31 |
| jack | thank you im defintely thinking about purchasing P90x now | 2008-07-07 10:53:52 |
| Liams | Ladies, Gents, I see comments from some people about how hard the workouts are. I guess your initial shape and stamina will play a role, but let me tell you, my wife and I started the workouts 3 weeks ago and didn\'t have any major problems following along. We\'re both overweight - though, that\'s now changing :) We\'re both able to follow along without any issues. Tony always has a team and each one of them does a modified version of the exercises: one harder, one easier. If you find the regular routine too hard, watch the person doing the easier version. Bands are an alternative to chin-up bars; that is, you **DO NOT** need both. You can get a set of bands from any store carrying fitness equipment (even Wal-Mart) and they\'re cheap. As for dumbbells, I would recommend one set that gives you enough resistance to feel it after, say, 15 curls but without the burn, and then one set that will make your muscles burn towards the end of 15 curls (curls 12-15). These 2 sets should then be enough for all your workouts. Regarding pregnancy, in my opinion (I\'m a guy and I\'m not a doctor), many of the exercises are **not** appropriate. Of course, some of the routines could be ok, but most will not and you\'ll just waste your money on a bunch of DVDs that will collect dust. You\'d be better off looking at something like Yoga for Pregnancy or Prenatal Yoga. These will keep you fit physically and mentally, and will help you during childbirth. Back to P90X. Great workouts! I found the Yoga DVD to be the most challenging of all. So far, we\'re able to do 45 min. of the 1.5 hrs. | 2008-07-14 12:04:32 |
| Nick | On an average what weight would you recommend to start off on the dumbbells. I am average build, a little overweight. I have weaker upper body strenghth. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Dumbbells are so expensive and just want to get the right ones. I was practing on 25 lbs. in the store. There seemed to be a little resistance but I don\'t know how intense the dumbbell portion of the p90x is. | 2008-07-17 01:39:32 |
| derek | i would get some that have good resistance on 8-10 reps. in the store i would do 1 standard curl (both arms) then do 1 out curl (backs of hands to your sides). do 16 reps and see which one feels best @ 16. you need to really struggle @ 16 b/c you will get stronger. i know how expensive they are :(. i just built up and bought a new pair each month. | 2008-07-18 10:54:12 |
| guestt | i have a question about the resistance bands. the p90x website says all i need for equipment is a pull-up bar and resistance bands. should i get the complete kit? or the standard kit? in other words, will the standard kit suffice for all the workouts at different levels or is that what the complete kit is for. also, im assuming i can substitute the dumbells with the bands... | 2008-07-20 21:10:09 |
| Sabrina | I have been thinking about buying the P90X for quite some time. I understand that you have to workout daily but I don\'t understand how there can be mustle cofusion when you only have 12 videos. How long do you use one video tape? or are you rotating daily??? | 2008-07-21 08:48:45 |
| derek | you can use resistance bands for the chin-up bar and the dumbbells, but i highly recommend having all 3. espically the chin up bar. i could only do 6 starting out and up to 29 after 3 months. on the legs and back video my total was 65 and after 3 months i totaled out at 129. i\'m on month 6 now and just did that work out today actually and got 145. | 2008-07-21 13:23:43 |
| derek | the confusion comes from doing a different video each day for 3 weeks then taking a recovery week (which is still hard as hell) then switching videos for another 3, recovery, then 4 weeks combining month 1 and 2, then last recovery. i did baseball/track/football and i\'ve never been in shape like this before. it\'s no joke. gotta have commitment. | 2008-07-21 13:24:53 |
| Nick | I just received the p90x in the mail today. I plan on starting on Monday. I noticed in the classic version that you don\'t do cardio x. Is their a reason for this or am I just reading it wrong. Also do you need to drink the protein shakes and the peak recovery formula. Does this make a difference and will I still see the same results without taking this stuff. I don\'t have the drinks and I really don\'t want to take any supplements. Any advice would greatly be appreciated. One more question I bought the dvd\'s off of EBAY. It did not come with the 90 day calendar. Do I need this. If so what would I chart on the calendar. Only because in the fitness quide it has the workout sheets to write down how many reps you do on the exercises. Thank You in advance. | 2008-07-25 23:14:03 |
| Anne | Nick, I started the P90X program this past March. The CardioX is used if you decide to do Doubles, which I wouldn\'t recommend your first time through, or, if you find Kenpo or Plyo too difficult, you could substitute with CardioX. As far as recovery drinks and protein shakes, this is optional. Sometimes I\'ll add a little powder like Propel to my water. I always work out as soon as I get up, then I have a protein shake for breakfast. I just use the protein (whey) powder from Costco, then add soy milk ( I can\'t drink milk) a banana, some frozen strawberries, ice and a scoop of flaxseed (also from Costco). It\'s great, filling, easy to make and lasts for 3 hours. Plus, I can drink it on the road. Don\'t worry about the calendar. If you go to beachbody.com you can download one. I actually typed out each daily work out, and put them together in a notebook so all 90 days are ready to go. I\'m on my second round and added P90X plus. I love it. Nothing has done more for me than this. Good luck, Anne | 2008-07-27 19:38:21 |
| sam | I live out of hotels and not also able to get to a gym is this something i can do in a hotel on my travels? | 2008-07-27 22:48:57 |
| derek | with a set of resistance bands - one high resistance, one little lower resistance, you can do every single workout they have. you will need some kind of mount to wrap the bands around for the chin ups, but other than that your good. everything else you can do right there, you may need to move a table here or bed to the side, but it\'s only for an hour or so. | 2008-07-28 08:51:25 |
| John Simms | This program is MADE for people who live in hotels or travel... | 2008-08-01 11:32:21 |
| Mary | I just saw this infomercial for the 1st time today and I was impressed. Everyone they showed seemed to be in fairly decent shape already so it seems to be for those only - is that correct? I\'m sure the rest of us would benefit tremendously, how could you not but the results wouldn\'t be like those seen would they? I\'m 47 and about 30 lbs overweight and I train in Tae Kwon Do at least 3 times per week. I would think this program would facilitate in my weight loss and help with my overall training in TKD. I\'d really like to try this. | 2008-08-03 10:32:55 |
| derek | almost anyone can do the workouts.. as long as you modify you can do anything for 30 seconds! haha, i know easy to say when your not doing it. but i was hardly in shape when i started the program and got tremendous results. i payed for it in the early days with pain, but as long as i would do the next work out it usually helped the pain go away. as long as you have good: 1#nutrition 2#sleep 3# workouts, u\'ll get everything you want out of the program and probably alittle more. | 2008-08-04 08:40:42 |
| Steve | Questions. Please give me the correct layout. First,1cd for how many week,2cd for how many week. Go from there. Thanks. | 2008-08-11 20:43:25 |
| derek | week 1-3 chest & back, pylo, shoulders arms, yoga, legs back, kenpo, then rest day or x streach. week 4 *(recovery)* yoga, core synergistics, kenpo, x streach, core, yoga, rest or streach week 5-8 chest shoulder tricep, pylo, back biceps, yoga, legs back, kenpo, rest day or streach week 9 *(recovery)* same as before weeks 10&12 chest and back and shoulders arms still in sequence weeks 11&13 chest shoulders triceps - back biceps in sequence week 14 *(recovery)* pretty much on the last month you mix the two. switching every week. | 2008-08-12 08:47:52 |
| tARA | where does the ab ripper come in at on the layout? lost by fitness guide but want to start up again. thanks! | 2008-08-18 12:36:57 |
| Jason | The best question of them all. Why should I buy the Results and recovery formula and not just dring a protein shake right after my workout? They both taste good, so I hear? Thanks! | 2008-08-18 14:23:37 |
| derek | AB RIPPER X COMES AFTER ANY LIFTING VIDEO. IT SHOULD BE ON THE END OF THE VIDEO IF YOU HAVE TO DO IT THAT DAY. (CHEST BACK, CHEST SHOULDERS TRICEP, BACK BICEPS, LEGS AND BACK, SHOULDERS ARMS) THE RECOVER AND RESULT FORMULA YOU\'LL HAVE TO EITHER BUY OR MAKE YOUR SELF. THE RECOVERY DRINK HAS GLUTAMIN *AIDS IN RECOVERY*, PROTEIN, ALITTLE CREATINE AND SOME OTHER JUNK. IT IS CHEAPER TO MAKE YOURSELF THOUGH. | 2008-08-18 15:56:47 |
| blobby | HI - I want to do this, but keep hearing the chin up bar they give doesnt fit over doorways. What alternatives have people used or can you manage without it? | 2008-08-23 11:25:14 |
| derek | any pull up bar will work. you dont have to get thiers. i would really suggest a bar though. i had trouble putting mine up, just make sure you have a single door jam instead of a double. | 2008-08-25 10:05:39 |
| derek | no, you don\'t need all that stuff.. you know of course it will help but you really don\'t need it. protein should b enough maybe even a little creatine. and of course bringing it every workout. | 2008-08-25 14:32:16 |
| Anne | All you need are the videos, a few set of weights, a yoga mat (you can buy one at Ross) and a pull up bar. You can use bands instead but they are harder. The only supplement I use is the whey protein powder (from Costco). I have a protein drink after every work out. I am one week from finishing round 2 of P90X plus. I love, love, love this program.I can\'t say enough good things about it. It has transformed my body. Follow the workouts, eat right and you will see results too. | 2008-08-25 16:49:28 |
| Razorback | I too have seen the infomercial twice now and am starting to become more and more convinced. I\'m 6\' tall 200 and am athelitic but in not so good shape. I like the fact that this workout claims how easy it is. When I say easy, I\'m not saying the ease of the workouts but how it doesn\'t take a bunch of weights, gym, and complicated excercises. However I\'m not a big fan of supplements other than whey protein. Will I get the same great results without taking any supplements besides whey protein and just staying on a healthy diet? After going to the webpage for P90x is started reading and saw all these other products they were recommending. What are the bare necessities I need that will give me the great results? I\'m a discplined guy so staying on the workout won\'t be a problem. I just don\'t want to buy this and then there be all these hidden extras I have to do or take before I can get the maxium results. Anybody that would like to weigh in please do.. Thanks :? | 2008-08-25 11:17:39 |
| abcd | after the 90 days, do you start with week 1 again and commence on the next 90 day cycle? | 2008-08-27 16:57:27 |
| Ed | I was injured in an auto accident with lower back problems at the L5-S1 and while my doctors continue to stress the importance of developing a strong core to support it, I wonder if this program will help me accomplish this goal or will it inhibit my ability to get the full results. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks! | 2008-08-30 20:17:44 |
| derek | after the 90 day cycle you can either go on to p90x plus or do p90x again, which is what i did. just started the plus last week after 2 full cycles of p90x. As far as back problems, you\'ll be building all kinds of support in your back with all the chin-ups and not to mention the yoga. just take it at your own pace and u\'ll be find. the upward dog may feel funny for a while but it is actually helping. ask your doctor. | 2008-09-03 10:17:02 |
| Chuck | I am a highly active mid 30\'s guy. I run around 20 miles a week and lift 4-5 times a week. I eat a low carb/calorie diet and I cannot seem to lose my belly tire. Will this work for me? Please advise. | 2008-09-05 11:27:02 |
| derek | chuck - that was me i was running about 10 miles a day and doing other cardio stuff i learned in school. i just couldn\'t get that same feel that i did in high school. w/p90x im better than i was now! really it\'s the yoga i think. but as far as belly fat, you can kiss that good buy w/ the x. truely worth it. i never ever had abs before p90x, and i was in football/baseball/track. | 2008-09-05 12:53:55 |
| steve | Hey,just got done with the p90x week one, great for old outa shape guys, but not for young in shape guys. the worst part is ab ripper x, it should be thigh ripper x,i had to do additional sit ups to feel an ab burn at all,but it did fry my thighs(waste of time)and screw my wrestling practice yesterday and today keeping me from shooting in as fast because of my tight thighs.overall very disappointing, but i did learn one thing, if it looks to good to be true it is.as for me i will stick to my usual routines for cardio and strength,if you are already in somewhat of good shape dont waste your time,if your not, give your 100 bucks to a local wrestler and let him show you how to workout, thanks and good luck | 2008-09-05 16:39:25 |
| gman | I am surprised steve says this. We have hundreds of users review this (the comments are truncated to more recent 50, but we have 250+) and our forums are loaded with people who show before and after pictures. There are also a lot of \"fitness nuts\" who came into p90x in shape and still found it very good. This is the first negative comment I have ever heard about p90x. I am not affiliated with beachbody and make no money off them. We post the reviews unbiased. Steve - perhaps try the P90x+ which is the \"extreme\" version for those already in really good shape. Of course, you\'d have to buy it, thats the downside for you. Perhaps you can \"borrow\" a copy from somewhere/one. | 2008-09-05 17:09:18 |
| derek | Steve, there is no possible way that this workout does nothing for you. you just didn\'t push yourself enough. 2 of the gladiators off of american gladiators did p90x and still do it. it\'s self body resistance. you just need to bring it. your telling me that 160 chin ups in an hour isn\'t doing anything? what about the 250 pushups plus the 100 chinups you can do in chest and bacK? and as far as ab ripper x, it is alil funny on the thighs but it ripped my abs. i was doing over 200 situps a day, this blew by it with 350 total. you probably need to work on your form, push further, go deeper, what ever it is. i\'d say give it another week and on every move act like it\'s your last, instead of half ass. :) | 2008-09-08 08:41:19 |
| D | I bought the P90x system and did all workouts but the Yoga (which is hard as heck) just be warned this workout is not for super out of shape people to really get anything out of it get in somewhat ok shape then start the program. I started in Jan. and by April i had lost 30lbs and have keep it off all summer! I put all the workouts on my iPod and i take them anywhere. Def a good buy if you travel a lot or don\'t like going to gyms. | 2008-09-08 11:36:03 |
| jess | I have some quick questions. i just purchased P90X and waiting for it to come in. i didn\'t buy the recovery drink formula so should i get some kind of formula? does it help? and i am hearing somthing about power bars. what kind? | 2008-09-08 21:43:25 |
| derek | jess, of course you don\'t half to get any of it and still see results. but the more you get the protein, creatine, recovery, the better the results of course. i didn\'t get theirs b/c it was so high. i just went to ole wally world and bought creatine and recovery formula (just look on the label for it). it really seemed to help. i usually get the snicker marathon bars or south beach diet bars. i would suggest six star protein from wal-mart, cheap and effective, maybe even throw in some vitiamin blend with it. | 2008-09-09 08:42:11 |
| Neil | P90X is an awesome workout. My wife and I do them together. I\'m 6\'1\" and about 245 lbs when we started. The most difficult thing for me are the pull-ups. There are lots of them. Doing the workouts alone will help you build muscle tone but you really to incorporate changes in diet in with this workout. By changing diet, focusing on upping the metabolism by eating lean portions more frequently I was able to drop 35 lbs in the first six weeks while adding a whole lot of muscle. Going from one pull-up with good form to sixteen. You\'ve got to commit and work hard, but the results are worth it. | 2008-09-15 16:28:40 |
| Duke | How can I integrate running in the P90X program? Do I substitute running for one of the cardio exercise? If so, which one(s)? I\'m thinking Kenpo and plyometrics. Will it affect my overall results? Thanks..... : | 2008-09-16 10:08:52 |
| derek | good to hear more results from the \"x\" As far as running goes, i\'d do it in the evening time or just look at your week as 9 days instead of 7. i wouldn\'t bag either of those workouts espically the pylometrics. if you like to jog, this workout will really help you amp up the running. it did me anyway. kenpo, u\'ll sweat your ass off!@ just gotta put full motion into it. | 2008-09-16 10:55:15 |
| Cam | Hi , I would just like to know whether you people that have already done p90x believe that this is a more toning or mass building program . If so , what amount of reps should I be doing in order to achieve gains in muscle mass . I have the cd\'s , and looking at the videos (for example legs and back) it is hard to see how you can build muscle mass while doing 25 or 30 reps for leg exercises . | 2008-09-16 18:58:12 |
| Anne | I am now in round 3, and doing a combo of P90X and P90X plus. I have already completed 2 rounds. As far as mass building vs toning, there are different courses you can select from the book, one for each. If you want to build mass, then you need to choose heavier weights. What it really comes down to is fat loss of your body. As you lose more and more fat, you will actually see muscle definition. You could already have a 6 pack, but if it buried under 2 inches of fat, you\'re not going to see it. My shoulder and legs are becoming striated and I have well defined biceps and abs now that I have followed this program. For the teen question, yes you can do this program. It\'s not uncommon to have trouble with the pull ups. Use a chair to help you and I guarantee that if you stick with it, in time you will be able to crank out pull ups unassisted. Follow the eating program! With these exercise and this way of eating, the fat will melt off. But, you have to be consistent. Most importantly, take pictures at day 1, day 30 ,day 45 and day 90. This really helps you actually see the results. Good luck | 2008-09-17 13:30:07 |
| wannaknow | how would this product be for a teenager, as for my shape i can push myself to do about 60-100 pushups, having trouble with pull ups, im a little heavier than normal not that i dont have muscle its just kinda covered up. can anyone tell me how it would be? | 2008-09-16 21:57:21 |
| Simon | How long do you spend on this workout each day? | 2008-09-20 14:13:16 |
| Anne | I spend between 50 minutes, kenpo cardio x, which happens to be my absolute favorite, to 1 hour and 35 minutes doing yoga. The average is about an hour. The seventh day can be a complete rest day with no work outs or, a stretch day which I recommend at least every other week. The stretch is not hard and really promotes flexibility. | 2008-09-20 15:30:52 |
| Colby | Im in great shape. 23 years old 170 8%bf 6\'3\". So i was skeptical at first. I bike and surf and lift wieghts so being in good shape i was expecting this to be easy. It is deffinitely difficult because of the intensity. If you do it right, the way you are spose to, you WILL get results. Im only a week into it so i havn\'t seen any difference yet, but I have not been this sore in a long time. Which is a good thing :grin | 2008-09-20 19:42:47 |
| bill | im 21 6\'1 about 175lbs and haven\'t done anything in the line of working out in about a year and say this on tv and want to get back into a program. is this for me? | 2008-09-22 14:48:47 |
| derek | bill, that sounds like me. i was in football/baseball/track in high school. started working right after and thought that, that was enough. well let\'s just say a beer or 2 a day and doing nothing had something different to say. i had lost almost everything, from a 4.6-40 to a 5.4-40 in only 3 years. i started running 2 miles a day and doing other stuff but couldn\'t get it back. w/this program i whipped it passed the mark i was in high school, and just keeps going further. it worked for me anYway :) kinda expensive though, but worth it, better than paying a gym 30$ every month for the rest of your life. | 2008-09-23 08:40:42 |
| Michael CCTX | I\'m looking to buy this program and would like to know from people if this is something a really out of shape guy can do. I\'m 6 foot 270 pounds and all of it is in my gut. My legs and arms aren\'t really flabby. I\'m needing to lose about 70 pounds over the next year. Would you guys reccommend this program for me or should I start on something else first and work my way into this? | 2008-09-24 12:54:43 |
| Sean Noonan | Hi my name is Sean, and Im 6\'1 150lbs and I want to gain weight, my goal is to weigh around 170-175 will P90X help me do that? | 2008-09-27 23:49:21 |
| gman | P90x would help you out but I\'d recommend heavier weight lifting with fewer reps. You really want to focus on the large muscles in your body. Thighs, back, chest. Most people tend to focus on biceps, very small muscle. Can search around this site for some articles on this. With that said you can do p90x to accomplish this, just think it may benefit you more to do free weights with max weight, min reps (6-8) sets. | 2008-09-28 09:17:28 |
| Jair | For those of you who have completed the P90X program, what kind of stress did the workouts place on your joints. How did your knees, shoulders, wrists and elbows feel? ALSO, did anyone keep track of their heart rate during the workouts? How high did your heart rate go? | 2008-09-30 12:22:19 |
| Patti | Bill & Michael - if you haven\'t worked out in a while, I\'d recommend you spend a few weeks doing a less intense program first. If you do want to jump right in to P90X, just don\'t get discouraged in the 1st week. The moves are hard and the workouts are intense. But, you\'ll be amazed at how quickly it whips you into shape. By the 2nd & 3rd weeks you\'ll be doing moves that you thought impossible in the beginning. Jair - the only workout that was hard on my joints was Plyometrics. Non stop jumping for an hour! Be very careful with this one. I have plantar fasciitis and had to stop Plyo and do the Cardio workout instead. Good luck to all who want to start P90X. It\'s really hard but it\'s also a lot of fun! | 2008-10-02 13:54:53 |
| Andy | I just finished day 9 of P90x, and boy! It sure is a workout, But i Love it! On my \"Rest Day\", i felt like...what do i do? I just wanted to jump back into the program and start working out again! Haha! Oh, I am 21, 5\'7, and weigh 150 Exactly! I trying to turn my stomach into that much needed 6 pack and i want to get those arms and chest into shape! Even though its only day 9, i see some results! My chest is gaining muscle and my stomach is tightening up! Ab RipperX is brutal! LoL, but i love it! And chest and back is also crazy with all those push ups! But thats whats making my chest get more muscle. Dont be discouraged! Try the program out! My friend is about 5\'8 or 5\'9 and weighs about 240-something, but he is able to keep up! Its hard on him, but i keep encouraging him to do it! | 2008-10-02 19:41:37 |
| worked | I just finished P90X two weeks ago. It took longer then I had hoped because I pulled a lower abdominal muscle while doing the ab ripper X routine. Unfortunately this kept me away from P90X for 5 weeks to recover. Besides that, these videos give you an awesome work out. I am gearing up to do it again in two weeks. This time I will really focus on the diet and yogaX, which I would skip sometimes. Other than that, I got totally ripped from this plan and can knock out 60 pushups no sweat now. | 2008-10-05 18:44:55 |
| Ryan | Hello, I am a college student and I have p90x, I just got it about a month ago and it is amazing, I look forward to it everyday. I was wondering if it is going to affect me, and by how much if I don\'t go by the meal plan? Like I said, I am in college and can\'t buy food or cook my own we have to eat what they give us...Thanks | 2008-10-14 00:42:16 |
| derek | what do you mean you get what they give you? for all 3 meals/snacks? if so, i would start telling them to go to healthy stuff, maybe over time there will be some slight changes. the food is #1, #2 sleep, #3 workout. so it is a huge deal. you\'ll still see great results, just maybe not the abs you always wanted.... but you will form showable abs :) | 2008-10-14 10:38:10 |
| Jon | Well i am 17 years old 6\'8\" 300lbs. I run 2miles a day and walk another mile 100 crunchs and 50 situps 7 days a week. I also do a weight program but it is not to intense. Well i really want to do p90x but i hear it is big around pushups and chin ups. I can only do 10 proper push ups and maybe maybe 1 proper chin up. So my qustion is should i start p90x now or stick to my workout plan for awhile longer until i am in better shape to do p90x. I am in no rush so waiting is not that big of a deal. Also if i do wait are there any certain excersises i should do to prepare for p90x? I would really like to atleast get on a nutrition plan now. Is there anyway to get the p90x nutrituon plan right now? or a plan similar to it? Thats all i can think of right now, Thanx in advance for any advice. -Jon | 2008-10-14 14:06:58 |
| derek | dude, i was doing exactly that. after i got out of high school and waited 3 years, i blew up. so i started doing stuff i did in high school. 1/2mile run warm-up, streach, 50 push, 50 setup, A.G\'s, then 50 push and another 50 set, then i\'d head for 2 miles every day. after doing that for 3 months i had plauted, and quit loseing weight. i had slight definition but nothing huge. i then seen p90x and ordered it first thing (never order anything off t.v.) i bought everything i needed which was a set of 20\'s & 15\'s later on 30\'s. and a set of resistance bands. i started hitting stuff that i seen off the infomerical for 30 min a day till my pull-up bar and videos arrived. i started seeing results by day 9 (after chest and back for the second time). trust me it\'ll be a good investment... and u\'ll be the biggest guy in your high school or the most ripped anyway. not to mention you\'ll be in GREAT SHAPE! | 2008-10-15 08:36:23 |
| Scott | I see a lot of the same concerns in these questions from potential X\'ers. Please anticipate a high intensity workout and remember only work within your current ability level. Forgot what you could do in high school, college, the Marines, etc... Especially the first time through the entire DVD collection. Also, recovery drinks are highly encouraged if you want to make it to work the next day and be able to dress yourself i the morning! | 2008-10-16 16:56:10 |
