I just bought the P90X and today is day 1 for my husband and I - I can\'t wait to start it when I get home. My husband started this morning and said it kicked his butt - I don\'t think he finished the first video. Oh well, we\'re going to push and do as much as we can and start tailoring our diet. A lot of my friends are fitness and nutrition professionals and tell me 80% of weight loss is how you eat. I stick to 1,200 calories a day and the lightest meal plan they have is 1,800 - I\'m not going to keep at the 1,200 though. We bought the Iron Gym pull up bar - They sell at Bed, Bath and Beyond, Target, Kohl\'s, etc for only $29.99 and it\'s great. My husband and I both hung on it and it stayed - he weighs around 200 and I\'m almost 130. Also, my cousin and her husband did this - they lost about 40-50 lbs. each in the 3 months and look AMAZING!! Can\'t wait! Good luck everyone! :)

Don\'t start this program if you are not mentally 110% committed to changing your life, body, and health. I just finished week 1 and I\'m totally hooked. I\'m 27, 6\"0 190lb, and I want to trim down to about 170lb and get trimmed. I sit at a desk for 9 hours a day and just feel totally lathargic and have zero energy. After the first week, I feel alive again - very sore, but alive. Plyometrics workout will kick your butt. All of the workouts are fun because they constantly introduce new moves - so it doesn\'t become redundant and boring. The biggest thing is the time committment - it takes one hour 6 days per week, then rest/stretch on day 7. So it\'s the kind of thing that takes planning and effort to fit it into a busy schedule. You always feel great after the workout though, so it\'s totally worth it. Can\'t wait to get to day 90!

P90x isn\'t a fad or gimmick. It is a guide for real exercises that work. It\'s not a weight loss toy that claims to rip you up. It is completely based on what YOU put into it. If you work out and don\'t feel the burn, you aren\'t pushing. Remember the phrase, \"No pain, no gain\"? That\'s about as true as it gets. Don\'t expect to spend 150 bucks and lose weight and tone up overnight. It took you a long time to get fat. It will take a good while to get ripped. So, do a reality check...order the p90x program....and get ready to work your a## off!

This program definitely will work for you as long as you stick with it and give it your best. I personally do not follow the nutrition plan at all, I just stick to lots of chicken spinach salads, good protein shakes after each workout, and lots of apples, grapes, vitamin c tablets, anything that will boost your immune system and improve your body. Just make sure you take advantage of the 30-60minute window immediately after your workout and get in a good amount of protein, but not too much if you\'re trying to lose weight.

my husband and i are thinking of ordering p90x, just wondering what kind diet it recommends and what sort of foods it recommends.

The pull up bar is not necessary as long as you have resistance bands and somewhere up high to wrap them around in order to simulate a pull-up. I have the Iron Gym door frame pull-up bar ($30) and its working great. Oh and to Haven: I got mine through amazone for about $90. It is completely brand new and legit. Amazon has customer reviews on every item, so just make sure people are responding positively to the seller.

Bring it!

Hi all, just got the program, but am now waiting for payday to get the gear like dumbells etc, im just hoping this really does work and isnt just a jip. costing me enough ££ to get me started on. like somebody earlier said about it poss being legit. hope not. will be starting the big 90 day marathon on 1st Aug. woop

The diet DEFINITELY gives you a great template for eating better, but it\'s caloric recommendations are WAY out of whack. We weighed the 8 oz of fish recommended both before and after cooking (close to the same), and couldn\'t believe how much it was. The salad recommendation weighed almost a full pound!

My wife and I were so bound up after the first week, that we\'re reverting back to the Weight Watchers\' recommendations. Not whining, we stuck to it RELIGIOUSLY, and only missed one workout (which we made up on the \"rest day\", and then rested) and both gained 3 pounds and 1/2% of body fat. Not the goal we\'re looking for, but I also know the fat percentage is probably higher than reality, so some of the weight gain was muscle --but not all of it.

Otherwise, this program ROCKS! I feel the muscles burn, I\'m eating well all day (just less than they recommend --which they actually recommend modifying portions, so it\'s not like we\'re \"off\" the diet), and you can visibly see results after the first week. I\'m a believer.

`m active duty military so I do muscle break down and running 5 days a week but its not enough for me to do good on my pt test. I need musce and cardio work outs to max my push-ups and situps and I need seriuos work on my 2 mile run. I just got p90x from amazon (free shipping and handling) and I`m looking foreward to the prgram. I know I have the will, but I`m hoping and hour of pt in the morning and an hour of p90x in the evening won`t kill me.

Is anyone here in the military? I hope this will help my run time as well.

Can you still do everything without buying a pull up bar?

Just visit the p90x forums here. There are 2500+ users there, you think they are all paid.

I run this site and it took me over a year to do p90x, but trust me when I say it is legit and works but you must be ready for a HUGE commitment. Six days a week 1 to 1.5 hours per workout. It is not for the weak willed, so don\'t spend your money if you can\'t commit as then it would be a waste of your money.

I\'m really worried about spending so much cash (about $150 with shipping and taxes) on a fitness program. Even if I get the free trial, I\'m going to have to go out and gather equipment, and that will take a while. I was thinking about getting this program sometime in the future, and I\'m always afraid it\'s not going to work as well as it claims, and that the people you see on youtube or here are just paid to make positive comments and it\'s a scam. The program looks really fun and legitimate, but I\'m just worried it won\'t be what I expect. Can anybody actually confirm that it\'s legitimate? Is there a guarantee?

I notice on most of the before/after pictures, that the women already start out with a good body then they just build muscle. Is this a good fat burner program too? because i have so much muscle right now but i could use a little fat burning off the stomach. I love the work outs. they are so much fun and i can get through them and i look forward to doing it everyday! when will i start noticing a difference in my shape? I want a \"bod\" more than anything! :( please help

You need to buy a few things like dumbbells or bands for resistances. It really depends on the person. I bought push-up/pull-up bars but if you are a beginner, the bands would be fine for you.

7/15/09 16:23

lexi

Do you buy buy other materials such as dumbells and a pull up bar with the p90x set or does it come with everything you need to do the videos? If it doesnt then what all would i need to buy?

I just sent away for the P90X... I recently had my heart broke and my friends said eat lots of ICE CREAM it will help!!!???? Not good advice if you ask me... Saw P90X this past weekend and decided to finally finish that goal of being in better shape. I am 37 years old, 5\'5 and weigh 151lbs. According to the BMI (Body Mass Index) chart I am overweight. I have tried and failed many programs...BRING IT! I am all about the BEACH BODY!!

7/15/09 15:58

Ben

Mitch,

You\'d want to work out the same muscles every day. So, if you are doing weights, then work out the same muscles you did that morning, otherwise you won\'t give your body recovery time. This is why P90X works out for example: shoulders and arms, then Plyometrics the next day, then chest and back. It gives one day to recover from the muscle group you just used.

Also for everyone out there...use Craigslist or ebay to buy, but make sure it is a new/used package and not one of the burned DVD\'s and PDF packages. You can also go to www.teambeachbody.com/p90x to get some of the PDF\'s that you may want/need if you don\'t have the booklet (IE- the workout schedule/tracker).

I\'ve just started Week 2 of P90X and LOVE it!! Is the workout hard? YES! I sweat buckets and at times think that I\'m not going to make it thru, but you have to hang in there. Kenpo is now my favorite workout and even though the rest are difficult, I don\'t hate them. I\'m a 51 year old woman, 25 pounds overweight but have already lost 5 pounds after the first week. I can tell inches are changing as well but am going to wait until the end of the first 30 days to measure. For anyone who\'s seriously thinking about getting into shape once and for all, THIS is the program!

7/13/09 9:55

why are you eating sausage for breakfast, lunch and supper? Isn\'t that like the worst food you can eat?

I am on day 5 of p90x. WOW. A lot of people see the commercials or see sample videos and get turned off because they feel if they can\'t do what is being done in the video it wont work for them. What\'s great about this program is that you dont have to do as many reps etc etc, p90x is about pushing yourself to YOUR limit. You follow the videos and if you can\'t do the workouts how they are being done, the video show you alternate way of doing EVERYMOVE in case you arent up there strength wise. I love it! All that AND its all laid out for you. There is no questioning what to do next for 90 days, they took the guessing work out of it and it never becomes boring! By the way, be ready to \"bring\" it for the plyometrics workout, it is an intense calorie burning workout. I totally recommend p90x. By the way, I am 29, 5\'10 and weigh 215 and intend to change that in the course of 90 days :)

Im on my 4th week of P90X and I did 2 weeks with just bands and these last 2 i have been using a pull up bar. I really believe that you will get more results with the pull up bar. If your worried that it will damage your door try the Iron Gym pull up bar, its the one I have and it works great. It can also be used for push up because it increases you range of motion. hope i helped

You should buy the program from the Beachbody (The company that created the product). Just click on the red button that says \"Yes I want to try p90x today\" - It will take you to the Teambeachbody website where you can buy the product. Do not buy the $38 set - these are pirated copies from China. Let me know if you have any questions.

My girlfriend and I have made the decision to start the program, but I have seen prices anywhere from $59.00 to $179.00. Can anyone help me with what is legit, and where to get the complete set (with the nutrition guide, calender, etc.) hopefully on the lower end of the range I have seen? Thanks!

Hey I\'m 16 years old, about 5\'10\'\', 130lbs, I have a lean build but still have muscles and I\'m in shape. I\'m looking for a program that will help me build muscle mass and was just wondering if this program would be any good for me. I\'m still growing so will this program have any negative effects on my body? Thanks in advance

Steven,

You can gain mass as well with this program. You would need to lift heavier weights and consume higher calories.

  1. My son bought the P90x system last year in July. At that time he was 285 at six foot one. He stated he got tired quickly doing tasks because of the excess weight. Since last July following the P90X my son is at 175 pounds and he looks good he could actually be one of the video participants. With that being said my daughter and I have joined the bandwagon going on a month now and we see results. Following the nutrition plan just as he did. I myself only want to loose ten pounds and my daughter wants to loose thirty. Also the greatest thing is I was taking high blood pressure meds and since follwing the program my BP has been normal. P90X IS TRUE TO IT'S WORD.
