P90X Review
Last Updated ( Friday, 18 December 2009 )

The P90x Nutrition Plan is centered on a powerful 13-week physical fitness program, combined with healthy eating habits, guaranteed to help you lose weight and regain the confidence in having a firm, toned body. We found in our p90x Review that the emphasis is on the importance of regular exercise to increase stamina and build muscle to replace excess weight. Carl Diekler and his company have developed a super program in the p90x Nutrition Plan that really revs up your metabolism for fast weight loss to burn away those unwanted calories.

12 Exercise Videos

Our p90x Review focuses on the essential elements of the p90x Nutrition Plan including the intense daily workouts and what to expect from p90x. Tony Horton, a professional trainer, provides serious motivation in the 12 videos that are included in the p90x Nutrition Plan. Each p90x video focuses on improving various parts of the body from chest, back, and biceps to legs and abs. Stretching, yoga, and cool down are all important features of these hour long workouts – no easy thing for beginners or the out of shape – but it does get easier as your body adjusts to the requirements in p90x.

Another important point we’d like to make in our p90x Review is that there are no special meal packages to buy – a definite advantage for many. High protein and low fat foods are recommended in the p90x Nutrition Plan, as are more frequent consumption of smaller meals. The p90X emphasizes that most foods can be obtained from your local grocery stores. This is a long-term method of losing weight and one that anyone, at any age, should be able to follow. It is essential, however, to stay with p90x for 90 days to get the full benefits of fat burning, strength and endurance buildup, and to establish a foundation of good eating habits – all of which can be accomplished through considerable time and effort. Although nutritional supplements are mentioned as advisable, this p90x Review does not cover the benefits or provide recommendations for specific products to buy.

Muscle Confusion

One of the reasons why the P90x is so effective is muscle confusion. The workouts are intense and are designed to work each body part daily. After month 1 you are introduced to a new set of exercises so your body doesn’t plateau. This is the reason most of the other exercises fail.

Image

The p90x can be your own personal training and nutrition plan with online support, meal planning, a calendar to mark your progress, and other p90x Reviews and success stories to provide inspiration along the way. The complete p90x set of DVDs, nutrition guide, and detailed guidance can be purchased online. Endorsed by medical professionals, personal trainers, body builders, and just ordinary people, this is an effective fitness program that you can do at home. We considered too in our p90x Review the appeal and practicality of not having to travel to a gym or purchase expensive equipment, although a heart rate monitor and a yoga mat are probably worth considering.

Finally...

We can summarize in our p90x Review that motivation and self-discipline are the keys to success with the p90x Nutrition Plan. We would recommend the p90x if your goals are to increase muscle tone, improve your overall fitness and cardiovascular activity, and are willing to devote some serious time and energy into getting there. You can forget surgery and diet pills, and still be able to reach the desired level of less than 10% body fat through the p90x Nutrition Plan. The decision is yours; however, we hope this p90x Review has provided some information and stirred your interest in p90x.

I just brought P90X and I hope that this works for me. I have been always active but after having my third child the weight seems to just pile on. I'm 33 yrs old about 5'2" weighting about 160 lbs. This is too heavy for me. I just became lazy and my husband notice this. I'm doing this for him and my health. Wish me luck!

hey guys I just got done watching the infomercial for P90X. I am 18 and having been struggling with weight all my life. I am 5'3 and almost up to 200lbs. Do you think if I buy P90X, that I will be thin and fit like I want to be as long as I follow everything like it shows? Please let me know

Hey... this is something I am really looking into purchasing. I don't think I look terrible right now, but I wouldn't mind losing 10-15 pounds and a pant size (maybe two). Basically I'm not fat, but I don't want to get there either. My concern with P90X is I don't want to look "ripped". I am a female and do like looking tone and having lean muscle, but I afraid it will make my muscles too big, like some of the people on the commercials. Can anyone give me their input?

Amy, I would try to do less running and focus more on just P90x. and see how you do with that. you might be overtraining and not getting in enough calories. if you are doing all the stuff you are saying that 1000-1200 calories is not enought calories !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes trying to loose the eleven pounds I gained while doing P90X. When I started this program I was 123 and ended at 134 :( I have been underweight for awhile - went to Iraq for a year and was under 100 pounds when I returned and have been slowly gaining and got to 123 and was comfy there, but then put on that eleven pounds and felt out of the norm for me. I have gotten five pounds off since I stopped the P90X by running and lifting moderate weights.

Amy,

I am confused by your posts. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? From what you post, you seem to think that you are overweight. Is this right? You are trying to lose weight?

Amy, you're 5'8", weigh 134 lbs, and are concerned about your weight? Even if you have a tiny frame, that's a healthy weight, perhaps even a bit under normal.

Alright, didn't plan on posting, but felt I needed to add my 2 cents. First off, I have a degree in Exercise Physiology. I spent over 10 years in the fitness industry. I still teach fitness classes today and I am here to tell you: I don't know it all and I don't have all the answers. I used to be all against Weight Watchers but I found it is a great system - IF YOU FOLLOW IT! I recently purchased p90x because I agree with the muscle confusion philosophy and I believe the program will give you the results you want IF YOU FOLLOW IT. I plan on being one of the great testimonials at the end of 90 days. I will repost then.

As for anyone gaining weight "out of nothing" and they can't figure out why, I have help for you. Stop shoveling into your mouth! You cannot create matter from nothing. Eat less calories than you take in and matter is leave your body. Eat more than you take in and, you guessed it, matter will get added to your body. Yes folks, it IS that simple. Stop creating excuses and stop professing the impossible. If you gain weight, yeah it might be from muscle, but that muscle is getting creating only by extra calories to support is. Eating more often throughout the day does not mean you have to eat more calories. I am 6'1" and 200+lbs and I work out 5-6 days a week now and consume 2000 calories or less a day and I maintain my muscle. Get the point? I hope so. I wish everyone to succeed on this page but you all have got to stop making it so damn complicated, ITS NOT! Use your instincts and common sense and you'll be fine. Good Luck!
9. P90x Diet Plan alone
Written by This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , on 23-01-2010 11:27
I followed the P90X diet alone, I am too lazy and busy to work out! So I worked it like this.... I Watched less TV, took more walks and ate lots of fruits and veggies. I typed in p90x grocery list into google and found that somebody had picked apart the recipes to make shoppinf and preparing many the p90x recipes easier. I worked that backwards. I took the list to the store bought the foods I knew I could use and simply followed the portion control approach. EXACTLY. I took my lunch and two snacks to work everyday. Cooked at home for dinner and ate breakfast EVERYDAY. 30 days later. I went from 175 to 160! I feel great, have more energy and feel so much lighter! My roommate did the same thing. He also lost over 10lbs. Sweet deal!

I have been in the same situation. I found cutting out gluten containing foods and dairy was the key for me. It doesn't mean low carb. There are plenty of healthy carbs that are gluten free. When I cut gluten and dairy I lose weight fast and can exercise less. A great resource is "the Gluten Connection". Good luck.

Amy,

Your diet is the problem. Believe it or not, you need to eat MORE in order to lose weight. The first thing you need to do is increase your calories! If you're truly eating only 1,000 calories/day, your body will most likely go into a "storage" mode. This is basically because the moment your body thinks its not getting enough food, it will horde all the calories and hold onto the fat since it thinks its going into starvation mode. Your body will also slow down your metabolism because it thinks a "fasting state" may be close and it will want to preserve as much energy as possible. This is done through holding tight onto the fat stores and not releasing them. Eat more calories more often throughout the day.

M not sure if you were replying to me - I have a very strict eating plan/diet. I eat anywhere from 1000 - 1200 calories/day depending on the workout.

HELP! Just purchased p90x DVD's and am very anxious to get started. I don't have the calendar and all the extras and I'm not sure of the schedule of how to do the workout. I found some worksheets to track progress, but still don't understand where the aerobics, yoga, plyometrecs (sp?) fit in. Can anyone help?

If you do not change your eating habits and permanently, you will never lose any weight. It does not matter how often you work out. You will be wasting your time. Do not spend hundreds of dollars on a workout DVD if you are not going to put 100% into it and make a lifestyle change. If you are gaining weight you need to look at what you are doing. YOU are not doing something right. It has nothing to do with the workout plan.

Derrick - I am just under 5'8" and now weight 134 :*(. What type of body fat caliper do you recommend - there are a lot out there aren't there. I know at the gym they have a body fat thing that you hold out in front of you and it measures based on height and weight but they told me it isn't very accurate. I called my doc to see if they thought it could be my thyroid??

Amy, have you ever considered that you gained muscle? What is your diet, because you are definitely working out enough. I would worry less about the scale and more about the mirror. Also you could consider buying a body fat caliper to measure body fat. How tall are you and what do you weigh?

OK I have been done with the P90X program now for two weeks and got back into running and lifting weights trying to loose the weight that I had gained from doing P09X. Never lost anything while doing this program and so frustrated that I cannot loose what I had gained - still actually gaining!! Ugh anyone with any advice - I run anywhere from 3-7 Miles a day and also lift weights every other. Why can I not shake this?

I'm on my 4th week of p90x and I actually gained 6 pounds (I was hoping to lose weight). I didn't follow the nutrition plan, that's probably why. I've learned it's really all about diet.

I had p90x for some time now and must say that it is great. Yes, the price is a little pricey but it is much cheaper than going to the gym. I love the workout and feel great afterwards. Before I started I bought all the equipments before I stared from amazon which has allot of them used so get those before starting.

hi there. i have a few questions: i broke my knee and dislocated my kneecap 2 years ago and also pulled my MCL. i'm also knock-kneed. i was a heavy kid growing up for as long as i can remember, until i lost 80 lbs. that was 8 years ago. now i'm back up to 220. i'm 5'2 and italian/german, so i have the thick legs and wide hips which helps me to keep weight on all sections of my body - mainly my core. i know a lot about nutrition and fitness, and was "addicted" (in a good way) to working out (to a point). i've always loved working out, even tho i can't do a lot of things - which brings me to my first question: my sports medicine doctor, as well as my knee surgeon and occupational health doctor, told me that i've had arthritis in my knees - probably since i was little (my knees have always creaked and cracked while taking stairs), and now since my one knee has been re-aligned they told me i could never run, do stair-step workouts, lunges, or squats ever again. they told me that once you loose your cartilage it's gone, and my knees are so bad already. i was wondering if this workout system would be good for me? i noticed a lot of lunges and squats, and positions where you have to sit on your knees, and i can't put weight fully on my knees. when i go to the gym i either walk the treadmill or do the elliptical. i can only do the elliptical for a few minutes because of my knees. due to college and studying i haven't been to the gym or worked out in awhile. i know i must loose this extra weight, not for looks but for my health (and strength), but walking will take forever to loose these pounds. i also lift, but again, i can only handle so much with my knees. i have major mental and emotional motivation - i just need the physical. i pep-talk myself everyday to workout and my body always refuses my mind. i'm only 29. i have almost every workout product/machine/tape there is out there (including both suzanne sommers' thigh masters, the original buns of steel from the '80s, and a metal rowing machine that was my parents'), and they all work - but i was drawn to your tape because he talks to you straight thru the camera and motivates you without insulting you. i used to have a personal trainer, but now there's no way i could afford one. everyone says "you lost it before, you can loose it again", but i lost it unhealthily due to a very bad break up - i lost that 80lbs in 4 months and was lucky enough to keep it off for almost 4 years. i know i need to loose it slow and healthily, so i don't think 90 days would be enough time for me, i was thinking more like a year, which brings me to my other question: have any obese people used the P90X? were they successful? everyone on the commercial were already "thinner" and only needed to tone their bodies. do us bigger people have to loose some weight first before we try this product? thanx!
