P90X is an awesome routine.  It sets you up for a lifetime of fitness.  You can always add to it and modify it to grow with you.

P90X is an AWESOME program! Great for gaining and losing at the same time. My friend and I got great results from doing it. We just started P90X Plus. I just wish we would have followed some sort of a diet. We didnt at all we still ate fast food and whatever we felt like. Good luck to anyone who does it. Best to do it with a friend it takes a lot to have the motivation to keep coming back and putting yourself through the pain again and again... :)
Hi, I am interested in doing the P90x exercise program, but am concerned about the diet part, as I am a vegan. Has anyone heard of anyone who has adapted P90x for those following vegan diets?

Bill
Bill,

I understand your your concerns about the the nutrition and being Vegan, & just know it can be done. However for you it\'s going to take a little more work and a little more research, but I am sure you are used to this.

One great thing is that if you sign up as a beachbody club member, you will have access to a very detailed nutrition program that will build your nutrition for you. It actually has a way to select vegetarian, and your meal plan and nutrition will be designed around a vegetarian base, you will just have to do a little tweaking to fit your vegan nutrition. Basically your biggest hurdle is going to be getting enough protein that is vegan. I can also help you with this, I have helped others that are vegan and some who have very strict nutritional needs because they are allergic to certain foods.

Just know it can be done, and we are here to help ya!

Also Jim you are right Tony Horton the creator of p90x is a vegetarian :) I will ask him if he is Vegan ;)

@william, I think you can do the P90X program with their nutritional guide as long as you find excellent protein sources.  A lot of the recipes included are make using vegetables.  In fact, I heard around the grapevine that the creator of P90X is a vegeta

I\'ve always been an active person but just couldn\'t get the results I wanted by going to the gym. in 3 months I\'ve seen more results than 3 years at the gym. I\'ve gotten so many complments from people and just got straight ripped. I lost 15 lbs but in a good way got shredded abs and just an overall shredded appearance. I\'ve followed the diet and nutrition guide to a T but I allowed myself 2 cheat meals a week because I am human. If you have some motivation you can acheive awsome results in just 3 months. I took a week off after completing the 90 days ate some unhealthy foods to reward myself lol got a full body massage and started my second round of P90X. Oh yeah make sure you take some kind of recovery drink either the P90x drink or something like Volu-Gro because these workouts are pretty intense. You really do have to bring it!
Hate to break it to you, but 250 at 5\'10\" IS obese.

With that being said, this p90x doesn\'t look so bad, compared with most of the \"fitness\" trends nowadays. I\'m just surprised people are paying for something they can do on their own... oh well.
Scott,

I hate to break it to you but weight and height is not the tell all to obesity. \"That being said\" Ronnie Coleman, Jay Cutler and the rest of those big ole boys would be considered \"obese\" in your terms.

No need to break anything to anyone really, what is most important is that Ryan is honest with himself and others and he is ready to make the change. Support an encouragement is needed the most.

You are correct that people can do it on their own, and I am one who tried and tried for years with little to no results. This issue is developing your own plan and then trying if for several months to see if it\'s going to work, if it does not work then you are back to the drawing board. p90x is tried and true and has helped change a lot of people, you saying:
I\'m just surprised people are paying for something they can do on their own... oh well.
is just like saying that millions of people should not pay for a personal trainer, because they could do it on their own. p90x also offers motivation just like a personal trainer would.

p90x is no trend it is a workout and nutrition routine that is well rounded. It encompasses a lot of different fitness bases to help people stay on track and not get bored or burned out, and most important it works and it works really well.
Well, to put it bluntly I am fat, not obese, but fat, im 5\'10\" and weigh 250 and im looking to lose weight and at the same time gain muscle, because muscle burns fat.

What im wondering is, will P90X be too strenuous for a beginner?

If so what should I use first?
Ryan,

p90x is really hard for someone who is completely out of shape and was actually designed to help a fit person break a plateau. Now that is not to say that someone who is not fit cannot do p90x, I am proof that an unfit person can do p90x. You just have to pace yourself and take your time. However, if you are wanting to start with a program that will lead you up to p90x then you can start with Power90. p90x was designed for the next step after Power90. Power90 is also a great program and it will help you get ready for p90x. Either way you have options. :)
