i am really interested in this, i think this program is engaging enough that i would stick to it, however I wonder 2 things. first, I have some weight to lose before i was to start gaining a lot of muscle, maybe like 20 pounds. does this happen as part of the program? I\'d like to look leaner I dont want to just bulk what I\'ve already got. second, how much do you have to do this program after the 90days to maintain your body? an hour a day six days a week is something I might could swing for awhile, but not forever. |

You can use any external products with this program. I would assume NoXplod is no exception. Tony pushes his own recovery drink which has some creatine in it, anyway. I drink it (mainly because it tastes better than any other product I\'ve ever tried) and some extra protien powder after my workouts. Here\'s what you need for P90X: 1) Weights - you\'ll need some variety as you\'ll want different weights for different exercises. Most sets in the 10-25 (each) range will probably work for most folks. Most weight exercises are biceps, shoulders, and triceps. The legs and back exercises may require more weight, but you may want to go through each exercise disk at least once before deciding how much extra weight to buy. 2) Pull up bar - you have to have this. You can replace it with bands if you want, but I\'m of the opinion that you work your way up to a pull up bar. You use this constantly (2-3 times per week on the disks) and Tony seems to love this piece of equipment. It\'s integrated into the program enough to where it\'s worth the $25 or so. 3) Yoga mat - not required as you can do yoga on carpet if you have it. Hardwood is not so forgiving. You do yoga a lot (at least once each week and some weeks twice), so it\'s probably worth investing in a good yoga mat. 4) Heartrate monitor - not required, but Tony harps on it quite a bit during the cardio disks. I\'ve actually found it helpful as it is a good thing to check during your workouts to ensure that you are adequately pushing yourself (or you need to slow down). You can rely on your body to tell you this naturally, but the heartrate monitor is a little more of a scientific approach. The other benefit with the monitor is it will tell you how many calories you\'ve burned during your workout which is (I think) useful information. It\'s not uncommon to burn 900-1000 calories in a workout and seeing that via your monitor helps keep you motivated. I bought a standard $40 monitor at Target. 5) Weight lifting gloves - not needed and I didn\'t buy until late into phase 3, but I do find them useful. You do so many pullups and weight exercises that your hands can get calloused pretty quickly. Again, not a big deal, but I find life just a little better when I use them. 6) Yoga block - not required and you may not need this. You can use anything here that resembles a box (I used a book for a while). If you aren\'t extremely flexible, it makes some of the yoga poses a little more tolerable. I didn\'t buy one until my second go around through the program. |

I watched the informercial and was sold. I wanted to get this but a few question... Can I take NoXplod while doing these exercise? No Xplod is creatine I believe, it gives me a lot of energy and I use to take this when I went to the gym. So, I need weights, pull up and a mat? anything else? Please let me know thanks |

To be honest, I never tried the P90X but only heard of good things about it. I “personally†tried another 90 day program that has the same type of layout(it\'s much cheaper and IMO equally gives you the same results) and so far I’m quite impressed with the results…I am less than 2 weeks away from completing the system and looking forward to celebrating with 2 six packs of beer =)… I have done well for myself(pat on the back) and if you have time, check my latest results for Week 10 in my personal daily journal with my weekly picture results.. |

Jim, my feedback would be that the program does require some dexterity on your feet and achilles area. Specifically the cardio days (Plyometrics - most, Kenpo - a little, and Yoga - primarily static holds). Tony is pretty good to point out how to modify each move given some folks have injuries to their knees, etc. I\'d say you can do the program, but you\'ll need to be cautious because there are some higher impact exercises to your legs. It may be worth giving your heel some healing time before jumping in. The upper boddy weights, pull ups and push ups wouldn\'t be an issue, but a large part of the program are the cario days, and depending on the severity of your injury, you may not see the higher end benefits if you can\'t push yourself on those days due to your calf/heel. For Wesley, a 14 year old could do this no sweat. Most exercises don\'t require weights and you could find some that fit your exercise level to match the program. I know a youth minister who started a modified program with his youth group. It\'s no picnic, but they have folks doing the program that are 60+ (and even one on the tapes that has a prosthetic leg). I\'d say a 14 year old would be no exception to the rule of who can start the program. For Nicki, I would suggest simply sticking with the program as is the first time through. You can go with the lean version the second time if you want, but I would suggest not veering from the standard program days. About the only changes my wife and I made were to swap CardioX with KenpoX on certain weeks just to switch it up a little. Good luck. |

My best friend and I decided three days ago we needed to shed about 20-30lbs were only 21 and we should be in the best shape of our lives right? Well were on day 2 I know not that impressive but I feel the burn. This is an excellent program so far and I hope it doesn\'t disappoint us. |

Yeah so i was watching TV this morning and i saw this. The question is, is it ok for a 14 year old to do this? im slightly overweight but i can do ab workouts easy, and i am fully committed. I was in football, but had to drop out because of family issues. Is this ok for me to use? |

Hey im an army rager that about three months ago was in the shape of my life but i had an injury and had to surgery. it was on my achillies tendon and in two weeks ill be able to walk on it. my question, is it going to be too hard on my injury, is there a lot of footbalenceing or overstreching the calf? if so would it be worth it to just go 100% on everything else but the stuff that hurts my heel? |

I just started taking karate, tai-chi, and the ultimate bodyshaping class.I purchased the p90x, and watched the instructional video.I read some reviews as well. My question is that I am trying to lose 20-25 lbs, do I increase the cardio portion or just do exactly how he says to? Thanks for any advice. |

If you are afraid that you are not in good enough shape for this program or if you are infact obese, I would recommend trying one of Tony\'s lower programs like Power 90. I did this and it was wonderful and really helped me get into shape. It had 2 different levels and every exercise has a way to do it that mkes it easier and he stresses using the pause button if you need it. |

I\'m closing in on round 2 of P90X (Day 150). I am 33 and absolutely in the best shape of my life because of this program. Couple of pointers: 1) I agree that the program may be too extreme for folks that are 30-40 lbs overweight, but I have friends within that range that are hanging with it. The KEY is commitment and sticking with it no matter what. You will not be able to keep up with the guys on the screen at first (and probably not even well into the program), but if you can refrain from getting discouraged and STICK WITH IT, you will begin seeing incremental improvements. My feedback is give the program 1 month and do EVERYTHING it says. Don\'t miss a workout, eat right (even if it means eating exactly the meals in the nutrition guide), and try hard (don\'t half do this thing). After 4 weeks, you\'ll see enough of a difference to keep going. If you follow those 3 previous suggestions, I promise this. 2) The program is 6 days a week (plus one off day or stretch day) for about 90 minutes a day. Your life will somewhat revolve around this program for 3 months. If you don\'t have time for that and can\'t commit, then it won\'t be worth it. If you skip workouts or try and span the program over 4-5 months instead of 3, it won\'t be worth it. If you don\'t do the ab routine 3 days a week (which is part of the program), then it won\'t be worth it. You have to change your mindset and tell yourself that you HAVE to follow the program. If that means doing the workouts at 9PM one night because something came up, you need to do it. In my opinion, this is the hardest thing about P90X and why a lot of folks I know gave up on the program because our schedules are so hectic. However, this is VERY key. If you stick to 6 days a week, you will see pretty amazing results. 3) Read the nutrition guide. Don\'t just tell yourself, \"I\'m going to eat better\" and start the program. You would still see results, but I\'m of the opinion that you will see them faster if you actually look at the P90X program and work in their \"phased\" approach to eating which means for phase 1 - not eating many carbs at all, and then working your way up in phases 2 & 3. On my second round of P90, I eat a little more sloppy and don\'t see a whole lot of setback because my physique and body can handle the calories better. Again, if you stick with the program, you can see some radical results. I\'m not a fat guy, but I was pudgy and had put on an additional 20 lbs since getting married 3 years before. I went to the gym 3-4 days a week and had done so for the previous 5 years with minimal change in my body. I never saw the fat around my midsection go away and while I felt I was in shape and had solid muscles, I didn\'t look it. The thing about P90 is that you move your body in so many different positions that you never find yourself doing at the gym. When was the last time you jumped and twisted in the middle of the gym? Once you get used to the exercises, you really start to see how many of them hit the abs or the back or the shoulders. I personally think the program works for the sheer fact that you move your body in ways that you would never do otherwise and you do it for 90 days. Your body reacts to that by building muscle around these areas and shedding fat. It really is amazing to see (which is why the program has you take monthly pictures). After the program, I had dropped 3 pants sizes, could finally see a significant amount of muscle tone, and had (have) well defined abs for the first time since I was 18. I lost all of the fat that had been around my midsection and chest for years in just 90 days. To say I was shocked would be the understatement of the century. To answer some other questions, you will need to buy a pullup bar, a heartrate monitor (while not absolutely required is truely a good buy within the confines of this program) and some weights (possibly additional weight) as you progress and yoga mats, weight gloves, etc. if you want. If you want to do it right, you\'re looking at about $300-$350 for the program. But, you can keep doing it after 90 days and I really believe the program pays for itself. I promise I will never go to a gym again after using this program. I am completely sold based on the results I\'ve seen. I bought it based on that crazy infomercial on a whim and can honestly say that those guys on the commercial are 100% correct about the program. Without trying to be completely cliche or corny, it really did change my whole outlook on fitness, diet, and health. |

I just turned 44 the end of July and would say I am in fair shape. I feel I am about 20 lbs overweight and would love to have some abs, a muscular chest, bigger arms, and more stamina (I play lots of racquetball). Is it possible for someone my age to achieve these goals. Also, I have a problem with motivation, especially considering these are 1 hr workouts. Did anyone else have the same problem, and was it overcome after you started. If so, how. Thanks |

I haven\'t bought the program yet, but will this weekend. Let me start out by saying I have been in the fitness industry for many years. I think the program will work but ONLY if you dedicate yourself to it physically and emotionally. True, the confusion principle has been around for years, proper eating has been mentioned for years, and the exercises are not \"new\" but that isn\'t the focus. Teh focus is on getting into shape or back into shape if you have been out like myself. This program is for ANY who has the desire to get into the shape GOD intended for us to be in when created. Therefore even if you are considered OBESE, you can benefit from this program, it simply means you will need to take it a little slower. The program can be modified for those who complete it the first go around and decide to continue. I will be doing so myself. Remember, being physically fit is a LIFESTYLE not a one time thing and expect to be that way forever. If you are up for the challenging workouts involved in the program, then good for you. If you prefer something a little lighter, then try another program. It doesn\'t make any sense to sit on this forum and bash the program because it isn\'t something YOU would try. Look around you, how many people in four would you count as out of shape?? Lift up those who want to do better for themselves. That is my vent for those of you who have nothing better to do. FYI, along with the video it is necessary to have some bumbells, a chin-up bar and maybe some bands. But remember, this is an investment in the new YOU. Research and determine your goals and you can do it. |

Ok...I\'m interested but have invested on other \"tv equipment\" before so skeptical. What else do I need to buy to make this work? Bands, free weights, etc.... Can someone advise me on this? I don\'t want to just order the program for the $$ and then realize I need to go buy more exercise stuff-- I want to be prepared and be proactive! thanks in advance! |

Actually, it\'s not for \"unfit\" people. If you\'re obese, you will have unbelievable difficulty with the ab routine and the pull-ups. This is more for advanced fitness levels, and folks within about 30 pounds of their \"normal\" weight. That\'s what the developers of the program say. There\'s a fitness test DVD, as well as on their website. No reason for a beginner or obese person to get discouraged with this program. Fitness levels vary at any weight, so if you can\'t pass their fitness test, start with one of Beach Body\'s less demanding programs like \"Power 90\". Oh, and Beth: there\'s a product at GNC called \"2:1:1 Recovery\" that is real close to their product and will cost about $60 for both of you for a month. That\'s like a buck a day for each of you... that\'s very reasonable. And finally to the \"know-it-all\" who said \"there\'s nothing new\" with the program --that\'s the point. I\'ve been in and out of body-building since I was 17, and \"muscle confusion\", \"push-pulls\" transitioned to \"connectors\" and back HAS been around for awhile. I wanted a program that I could do at home, would push me hard, and get me results. I\'d just taken off 40 lbs in the last 6 months via calorie control, but wanted to GAIN muscle now that the weight was gone. I\'m VERY impressed with P90X. I\'m into Week 3 and LOVING it. |

I just finished week one. I am 39 years old and am about 30 lbs overweight. I follow the fitness plan and loosely follow the nutrition plan. This program will kick your but if you are out of shape no doubt. This is the best fitness program I have ever seen or used bar none. I served in the US Army Spec Ops and got a better workout with Tony Horton than I ever did in the military. You don\'t need the recovery drink - use milk and chocolate Ovaltine powder and it works wonders for the soreness. If you don\'t like chocolate milk, then get the recovery drink they offer or go to GNC they have them too. |

I have to say, this isn\'y a fad. The muscle confusion was something that I never learned from years at the gym. I am in Iraq right now and there are so many guys using this to get lean and some augment it to get big for Personal Security Detachment work. This works really well with the military\'s transition from bulk muscle to lean and cut. Great program to take the research out of this type of body transformation. |

This whole program is bogus. If you go to the gym on a regular schedule and have a regimen where you work 1-2 muscle groups per day, you can get the same results as P90X without having to spend the money. This is just another one of those \"hey everyone, jump on this latest and greatest fitness technique bandwagon\" gimmicks. None of these exercises are anything unique or new. They\'ve been around since the beginning of time. Open your eyes people and use your common sense. |

I know what you are thinking because I was in your shoes. You are not happy with how you look and have tried everything bt nothing has worked. For months I saw the commercials for P90X and I thought it was bogus, just another expensive program that will not work. Finally a buddy of mine from facebook bought the program and I decided that I would as well. Even though I just started the program I can already feel the change that is occuring. If you work hard and do the things that Tony suggests then you will see the results that you want. I have started a blog to track my progress. I am on day 2 and I have 2 lbs. threw away all junk food, and have not had soda, salt or sugar since I started the program. Is it tough? Yes, but isn\'t being stuck in a body that you are not happy with tough? The program offers three meal plans: portion control, meal plan and quick option. I chose the portion control since I am on the road a lot during the day. There is also three different phases, you pick the one that addresses the results you want to see. They are: fat shredder, energy booster and endurance maximizer. I chose fat shredder. One you buy the program you join thousands of other people jut like us that want nothing more than to have a better body and better health. The only thing other than the program that I would suggest is the rubber bands, but I got mine at Target for around 9 dollars. If you order from beach body they will cost you a bit more than that. So what are you waiting on? If you get it and it is not for you they will give you the money back and lets me honest we waste more money than what we will spend to buy P90X. 90 days, 100 dollars....and determination. Its that simple. I am a real person, track my blog |

At the end of the p90x cycle (after all 90 days) would it be a good idea to just start over again or take a week to bulk up doing traditional strength training (aka bench press/incline /lat pull downs/squats etc)? |

To anyone who wants to get fit: I am 15 years old and have just started doing P90X. From Cardio, to Abs, the whole P90X workout seems to work so far. They are very tiring, and make you want to quit and take breaks during the workout, but like Tony Horton says, \"the harder you push, the better results.\" Horton makes the workout so funny, because he will comment all the time on how tired he is, even though he\'s not really doing the whole workout on the video, and how good the pain feels. I love P90X so far, and want to get \"ripped!\" |

I\'m a software engineer, so I\'m used to critically assessing products of any kind. P90X was no exception. The short story: I did P90X from October 2008 to January 2009 and have noticed a serious increase in endurance, very visible fat loss (even though my body fat percentage was already low), approximately double muscle strength, but very little muscle gain (I am an ectomorph, aka hard-gainer). Click the link for my P90X results. That page also hosts a comprehensive P90X FAQ. One area in which P90X did lack a bit was the quality of information supplied with the program. For example, there were no meal plans for people who like to shop at Trader Joe\'s or Whole Foods, both highly popular organic food store chains in the Los Angeles area, where P90X trainer Tony Horton lives. There were also various bits of contradictory information throughout the manual. Hopefully my FAQ will address these concerns. In any case, the FAQ is a wiki, so you can edit it too. Bring it! |

Like others said. It works if you put the time and effort into it. The eating part, if you choose to follow it, will make a huge difference, but it\'s far more expensive than the initial $ you spend to set up and pay for the program. The people who\'ve had such great success, most of them have followed the eating plan, and it\'s not easy to follow. My husband and I tried it for a couple weeks, and ended up making some substitutions, because if you follow the nutrition plan, it\'ll run you about $140-160 a week. Alot of the soups and such have HUGE serving amounts (12+ servings) so you can trim those down if you want to save some. But it\'s alot of fresh ingredients and that\'s not cheap. Plus plan to spend a fair amount of time preparing some of the meals. And I hope you like eggs! It works. Anytime you put a good effort into eating healthy and spending an hour a day working out for 6 days a week, you\'ll see results. The workouts aren\'t easy, and if you aren\'t in fair shape, you might want to start out a little easier. You don\'t need to be in perfect shape, but there is a fitness pre-test and if you can\'t finish that you should work up to P90x, maybe with 10 minute trainer or something else similar. You can certainly complete the dvds, but you will be very uncomfortable for several days after. I started when I wasn\'t in shape to do so. I knew that, but I also knew it was the kick in the butt I needed, so I did it anyhow. There were days I had to roll out of bed because I couldn\'t get up normally. It improved fairly quickly and your strength will improve quickly for the pushups and pullups that you\'ll spend hours doing. However, remember that things other than effort and time go into having those awesome bodies the people on the commercials have. Genetics does play a part, and if you aren\'t blessed with good genes for the rippling muscles, don\'t expect that you\'ll get it. Your fitness and your shape/size will improve if you\'d dedicated to the program. But depending on your shape when you start, you may have to do it more than once, and you may very well might not end up looking like Tony Horton in the end. |

My fiance and I just bought P90X, we are on day 4 and LOVING IT!! Tony Horton is a WONDERFUL personal trainer! He is so energetic and always has the funniest things to say! The thing that I like the most is that through out the entire workout, he keeps reminding you not to injure yourself. He reminds you that this is all new to you and to go at your own pace. I like that! My fiance and I have been loosely sticking to the nutrition plan. We aren\'t eating junk food and are only drinking water but we are wondering, is the P90X recovery drink worth the money??! Is there a cheaper, more readily available alternative at our local GNC that we can go pick up and try?! I\'d just hate to waste the money if it turns out that we don\'t like it! Any thoughts? |

Having purchased more than my share of weight-loss products; I\'ve become jaded... thinking everything is a scam or poorly constructed product designed to be repurchased in 6-8 months. What I\'d like to know is HONESTLY is this program worth it? Sometimes the reviews I read on products, when looking back, look like they might be written by shills hawking a product for the company (placed reviews by employees, friends/family of employees...) |
