Mari Winsor Pilates DVD Review

Introduction

If you know Pilates, Mari Winsor is definitely a name you should recognize.  She used to be a dancer but is now a Pilates instructor.  In fact, she is probably one of the most celebrated names in the pilates fitness world.  After writing three books on the subject of Pilates workouts, "Mari Winsor : Pilates" is her first of many of her successful DVD workouts.

Choose between express and classic workouts

One of the hallmarks of a good modern fitness program is its ability to sacrifice a little bit of effectiveness in the interests of expediency for those that do not have a lot of time that particular day.  The Mari Winsor : Pilates DVD  provides this.  Included is the normal mat workout that takes you 55 minutes, but if you’d rather go for something a little bit quicker there is also an express version of the workout available that you can get done in 25 minutes instead.  Naturally the latter won’t be as effective as the former, but it will definitely be as efficient relative to the amount of time you spend exercising.
 

Start out with easier positions for beginners

One reason that Pilates is maybe not as popular as it should be given its high effectiveness is the fact that there is a very steep learning curve to get the positions and movements right.  It is by no means easy for a person to just step into the workout routine and run through it with no problems.  Mari Winsor understands this and that is why she has come up with modified positions that beginners can use.  All you need is a Pilates mat and the wish to change your life for the better and you can start with the beginner positions until you feel confident enough to tackle all of the challenging positions that Mari can throw at you.
 

Learn Pilates in a unique way

Pilates mat workouts are by no means rigid in terms of exercise technique.  What works for one person might not work for another.  Once again, Mari understands this perfectly and that is why she’s developed her own style that is noticeably different from a lot of what else you’ll see in other videos.  This style, while perhaps not as mainstream as most, will nevertheless have the same sculpting and fat reducing prowess as any other Pilates workout that you can look at.
 

Effective injury prevention techniques

One of the positive side effects of this Pilates workout is that it will do a lot to help you prevent injuries that can occur with some of the more challenging positions.  Rather than forcing you into the deep end on day one, the beginning positions will help you increase your flexibility and sculpt your features to the point where you can easily take on the harder positions with a greatly reduced risk of injury.
 

Final Thoughts

As far as Pilates workouts go, this one is definitely a keeper.  If Pilates is how you want to get in shape, you should definitely check it out.
