Jillian Michaels is most popular for her role as trainer on the hit reality show, the Biggest Loser. Playing off the show’s title, The Biggest Winner DVD series offers 5 DVDs aimed at reshaping the body in new and exciting ways. Many dieters claim they buy a workout DVD only to grow bored of the workout in a few uses. The Biggest Winner DVD series offers 5 DVDs to keep the body moving, Shape Up – Front, Shape Up – Back, Cardio Kickbox, Maximize – Full Frontal and Maximize – Back in Action.

It is important to note that 2 of the 5 DVDs are very short. The Shape Up – Frontal and Shape Up – Back are only 10 minutes in length, according to users. These DVDs are often used as warm up workouts. If used in conjunction with other forms of exercise or cardio, the warm up is a great choice. If the user wanted to use the Shape Up DVDs to warm up for one of the other DVDs in The Biggest Winner DVD series, that would mean stopping and changing the DVD as soon as the warm-up is complete – not a great choice.
Step or No Step? Some users of The Biggest Winner DVD series claim a step is needed for some of the workouts in the series while other users ensure no step is needed. While the literature about The Biggest Winner DVD series does not reveal any additional equipment needed to complete the workouts, we found that a step and free weights are used in the DVDs. This is a bit of information that needs to be divulged to the buyer before ordering the series. A step and free weights are a substantial investment for some beginners.
Other negative points about Michael’s Biggest Winner series includes a lack of proper warm-up and stretching on some videos and weird interaction with the cast on camera. It seems that Jillian Michaels is not actively doing some of the workouts but chooses to interact with others instead.
Intensity – Too Much?Jillian Michaels is known for her intense workouts and The Biggest Winner does not disappoint. Users with knee and joint problems claim the workout is a bit too intense with a wide range of jumping and bouncing exercises. The alternative, lower impact movements are rarely shown on screen which leaves the user guessing as to the best alteration to make to the high impact movement.
The intensity of the workout is often driven by the music. The Biggest Winner DVD series seems to have some music issues through various workouts. Reviews claim the music is either out of sync or not pulsating enough to push the movement to the point of strong intensity.
The Biggest Winner DVD series does not seem to be the BEST by Jillian Michaels but could work as a filler workout set for a change of pace for people who work out regularly. The beginner may not find this DVD series to be the optimal choice.
