Game Concept

This is not an ordinary workout program.  In fact, Jillian has gone all out creating a story line that is set on a Pacific jungle island.  It is designed into a comic-book game style with Jillian’s true voice.  In the story, you are a secret agent helping Jillian destroy two “evil” corporations, which are: FPF that produces processed foods to poison people in masses and CureAll that produces a chemically based elixir that makes people who eat FPF’s food feel better after eating it.

You will begin your journey in a Hell Week style boot camp that includes new features and workout modes for the 2011 version.   Here is where you will do your warm-up which involves stretching and calisthenics exercises.  Each one is worth 50 to 100 points.  You need to collect 500 points before you can begin your missions.

There are nine missions to get through with one Ultimate Mission.  Getting through each mission involves doing various exercises to make your on-screen character perform.  You unlock each mission by completing the previous mission.  There are three difficulty levels, which are:  easy, medium, and high intensity.

This program includes a calendar system that allows you to program routines on a period of up to 6 months.  You are never alone as you make your way through the story.  Jillian is there with you all the way offering direct feedback and motivation.

Consumer Reviews

According to consumers, there are some advantages and disadvantages to the Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2011.  People seem to really like the 360 camera angle rotation where you can see exactly how your character does the exercises.  The exercises are described as “pure” and “okay, but nothing earth-shattering”.

There were some complaints about the time spent calibrating the Wii Balance Board and the Wii Motion Plus. There were those who said they had trouble following the on-screen character’s motions because the system couldn’t detect them properly.  This can be very frustrating when you are in the middle of a mission.  However, there were also those who feel that anyone having trouble didn’t know how to use the console itself.  Therefore, there were some who had trouble with the controls, while others were able to get through the game without any control issues.

There were definitely different opinions as to the content of the game.  Some thought the game was really fun and an exciting way to get in your fitness.  However, some were pickier about the content and ideas behind the story.  It honestly depends on your ideas of what “fun” really is.  Others also thought the story line kept you in the same position for too long.

Bottom Line

Those who tried this fitness video game rated the game as fun, but felt that the workout was not as challenging as it could have been.  It appears that this game is one you might just have to try yourself.  It simply depends on your individual preference as to if the Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2011 will be the fitness video game for you.
