Jillian Michaels: Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism Review

What is metabolism? Metabolism is the rate at which the body converts fuel to energy and uses that energy. Boosting metabolism requires burning more calories and fat while simultaneously building muscle . The muscle of the body burns calories even at rest, so the more muscle on a person’s frame, the more calories burned and the faster the metabolism.

If there is one thing different about this DVD it is the length of the workout. With more than 40 minutes of heart pounding action, the beginner may feel they are taking too big a step for their first workout DVD. Fat burning requires long stretches of moderate intensity. The heart rate will not be pushed to the limit, but rather sustained for a longer period of time. This makes the workout for effective by keeping the body in the fat burning heart rate zone. Beginners can use a heart rate monitor to ensure they are keeping within that moderate zone throughout the 40 minute workout.  

Beginners can also choose to alter the given exercises to decrease the intensity. If running is an issue, butt kicks can be used until strength and stamina build enough to run. If the jumping ski movements hurt the joints, single foot lunges can be used in their place. The idea is to complete the entire 40 minutes with an elevated heart rate and work on improved vitality, strength and physical ability.

Some users have been completing gym workouts, running and intense cardio for long periods of time and still have difficulty completing the entire 40 minutes non-stop, without alterations.   1. i love this workout... been doing it for almost 2 months now (4-5 times a week) and am feeling much stronger. i have NOT lost even 1 pound though! what am i doing wrong?!?
  2. I love this workout. I have done the whole thing and it is tough, but I also mix it up sometimes. Today I did four circuits of this video. I started with a light cardio and toning workout (15 minutes) from the Firm. Then I did circuits 1, 2, 5 and 7. I finished up with a Turbo Jam Burn, which is designed to be an intro video, but I often use it as a cardio cool down before stretch. The great thing about the Jillian DVD's is that you can do the who workout or you can select circuits and make your own workout depending on your own personal needs.
  3. This workout is awesome! I lost over 25lbs doing this workout (the last of my baby weight), but also through healthy eating. This workout put me back in bikini shape and I absolutely love it. I have been doing it for close to 6 months and I haven't plateaued at all. I do other workouts here and there also just to mix things up....definitely worth trying and you will undoubtedly see results, if you put in the time!
  4. Jillian Michaels has the answers when it comes to burning fat and losing weight. She's tough as hell and this workout video is intense! But that's what it takes to get results - like she says, you have to move out of your comfort zone.
  5. This is a seriously intense workout, I have been using Last Chance Workout from the Biggest Loser where Jillian is also the instructor. Being used to Jillian from that DVD I started on this one, let me tell you I had to stop a few time to get my breath or just to rest aching muscles. What a brilliant workout, very happy I bought this one.
  6. This is an intense workout but it gets results fast. She uses the right combination of exercises to max you out but allow you to keep going! I've never worked so hard and wanted more at the same time. You will sweat buckets but see and feeling the effects quickly. I've actually quit going to the gym to concentrate on this tape and I'm loving it. You wont be dissappointed either!!!
