Hip Hop Abs Review - Six Pack Abs or Bust
Last Updated ( Friday, 21 August 2009 )

With so many weight loss gimmicks, diet pills , muscle building powders , health advice that changes on a daily basis and different possible workout routines it’s hard for the consumer to know what is real, and what is a scam.  Which is why we created this website, to present to you an unbiased view with no affiliation to the products.

One part of the body that is a constant worry to both men and women is their midsection. If it were easy to obtain washboard, six-pack abs , we’d all be walking around looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime.

The reality is, that building abs that stands out, and keeping them is hard work. In this article we will look at the pros and cons of ‘Hip Hop Abs.’(see also P90x Reviews, Slim in 6 Reviews, 10 Minute Trainer workout.) Related also Zumba.

What You Get with Hip Hop Abs.

When you purchase Hip Hop Abs, you receive four different workout routines that are designed to target your abs in different ways. You will also receive a nutrition guide, a workout calendar and 24-hour online support. As a bonus, you will also receive a hips, buns and thighs workout routine , a fast food diet guide, a six day diet plan, a measurement card, tape measure and three more hip hop dance routines. You get all of this for three payments of $19.95, or approximately $60 plus shipping and handling.

There are many workout programs on the market today that cost a lot more, and the relatively cheap price of Hip Hop Abs may entice you to buy without first looking to see if it actually works. See our other BeachBody Reviews and Exercise Reviews .

Is Hip Hop Abs Right For You?

While very few people would argue that dancing to hip-hop music is more fun than doing crunches or sit-ups, the fact is that the old fashioned crunches and sit-ups will flatten your abs and show greater results over time. The good thing about Hip Hop Abs is that the reason people don’t like doing sit-ups, crunches or weight resistant exercises , is because they are uncomfortable. Some people are unable to do sit-ups because they have a bad back, and would find the Hip Hop Abs program both more comfortable, and easier.

There may also be other reasons why going to the gym, or buying weight training equipment for your home isn’t the right choice for you. A huge amount of the population can’t afford expensive home gyms, or costly gym memberships. Maybe you don’t have the space to fit gym equipment, but since you already own a DVD player it’s not a problem to work out with Shaun T.

Time is also a factor. Busy lifestyles can get in the way, and having a CD at home that you can push into your DVD player whenever it’s convenient for you, can be a deal breaker.

However, easier doesn’t equal better. But if the choice is between doing a Hip Hop dance routine, and doing nothing at all, then the Hip Hop abs routine is definitely a better choice by far.

And that’s the crux of the matter. Many people don’t like going to the gym. They find it boring, tedious, expensive and time consuming. Those are the kinds of people the Hip Hop Abs creators wanted to target.

Shaun T, the man with the dance moves on the video, is also a fine looking male specimen. Many people like to watch him get all sweaty while he teaches you how to target your abs with dance moves, and he has a personable, funny personality, which many people find appealing. After all, if your going to be watching the guy on a regular basis, while working out, it’s only common sense that you would like to be fond of the guy!

Probably the best part of the entire program is the diet guide. If you want to get fit, drop fat, and stay healthy, eating properly is the key. The diet plan included with the program isn’t as extensive as some of the diet books you can find in your local bookstore, but it’s a decent start, and following the guide, and learning about nutrition should be your first step in fulfilling your six-pack abs dream.

While there are some good points about the Hip Hop Abs fitness program, there are also some significant drawbacks. For instance, once your body becomes used to the routine, you’re no longer challenging it, and therefore not going to build bigger abs. In fact, if you’re already in pretty good shape, you’re probably going to find that this fitness program isn’t going to be enough for you. You’ll have a hard time breaking a sweat, let alone build yourself dream abs.

Another drawback is that hip-hop music doesn’t appeal to everyone. Some people just can’t stand that type of music, and even though the music featured on the disks is not hard-core hip-hop, it still turns some people off.

There have also been reports by unhappy consumers that say the Hip Hop Abs salespeople are pushy and have charged customers for extra products that they never wanted or ordered. If you have your heart set on buying this product, you should consider paying by paypal, rather than from your credit card. This way, the salespeople won’t be able to rip you off.

Conclusion

The Hip Hop Abs fitness program gets a mixed review. While it probably won’t be able to build you those killer abs you so desperately want, it will help you to get active and perhaps get into the routine of being active. In a lot of cases, making physical fitness a life long habit is the key to a healthy lifestyle. By using the diet guide you will increase your nutrition level and awareness.

However, if you think that by buying the CD’s, and dancing along with Shaun T, you’re going to wake up in the near future and have well toned abs, you’re wrong. The fact of the matter is, the gym and old-fashioned weight training is the quickest, and most productive uses of your time if you want to build washboard abs. Cultivating good-looking abs is a process that will take time, energy and perseverance as well as a good diet plan.

You can lose weight and get a more fit mid-section using the Hip Hop Abs routines and we recommend all novice and intermediate users to try out this program.

I ordered Hip Hop Abs last summer and the first thing I did was the 6 Day Slim Down...it promised that if you followed the schedule (work out and food) that you will lose 3 in off your waist in 6 days. It totally worked! I followed this diet exactly (except for fish, I hate seafood..just replaced it with chicken) and did my workouts faithfully and by my 6th day I had lost 8 lbs and 3 inches off my waist and had a TON of energy!! It's only supposed to be for 6 days so don't try it for longer, its just to get you started. It really does work though.

I Just started hip hop abs and I am in my second month of P90X, I enjoyed hip hop abs, yeah maybe the music isn't for everyone but it's fun and I am using it not only to help my mid section but its extra cardio because I am trying to lose weight (approx 25 lbs) and P90X is building me those muscles I've always wanted, in P90X you have kempo X and cardio X both awesome programs, I love them! but I wanted to take the cardio up another notch and Hip hop abs is FUN, I throw it in to finish off my work out.

I got hip hop abs last year for Christmas. I find it great for my none weight training days. I find I get a good cardio. You just have to push your limits. Between this, my weight training and proper eating I now am 30 pounds lighter, 15% body fat and have my six pack. I continue to do one or a combination of these workouts twice a week.

I bought hip-hop abs about a year ago and I couldn't get into it. I recently picked it back up and it has been great to make me sweat because I'm not in great shape. What disappointed me is the fact that the music isn't really hip-hop persay. I thought it would be actual songs, or something to get me pumped. The only video that has a semi-decent song is the cardio workout and that video doesn't really do much for me. Hips Buns and Thighs is a good one though. If you're going to commit to buying a good energizing work out video, check out Turbo Jams or for the more intense, P90X!

I ran across this after already having hip hop abs but wanted to add a few comments the author missed I think (sorry!). I was already in decent shape when I started so not a novice to exercise and fitness. I do not have time for the gym recently due to kids so picked up hip hop abs and wow its been great! I lost 2 inches on my waist and also toned up my shoulders, butt and thighs. Oh my thighs! I was not happy with them but I am much happier now. I am not where I want to be but hip hop abs definitely has helped me and I love to work out to the music!
