Introduction to ChaLEAN Extreme
The ChaLEAN Extreme Fitness System is not your ordinary system and this much is easily apparent from the moment you visit their website. Created btinyy a woman named Chalene Johnson, it professes to bust all of the fitness myths that you have ever come across and give you the real treatments that you will need in order to be successful with your weight loss goals.
According to the ChaLEAN Extreme Fitness System, there are two major myths involved with the exercise industry today that harm more people than they actually help. The first of these two myths is that cardio work is the most effective solution for people that would like to burn fat . According to Johnson, this is a complete myth. She states early on that creating muscle is the best way to burn fat and looking at her trim figure on the first page should illustrate that point in startling clarity to you from the moment you log onto the website.
The second myth that Johnson singles out on page one of her website is that the only end result from lifting heavy weights is that your body will become bulky from the large muscles. According to Johnson however, since muscles can help you burn fat, you actually become lean through lifting weights because you are gaining lean muscle that at the same time is helping you get rid of more fat. According to Johnson, the type of weight lifting exercises you will do in ChaLEAN Extreme will help you lose weight and maintain a trim figure in no time flat. The Good Things about ChaLEAN Extreme The main positive item that can be brought to your attention regarding the ChaLEAN Extreme Fitness System is that it is based on facts that health scientists have known for years. When you create more muscle mass in the body, you are creating conditions within your body that breed a faster metabolic system. This faster metabolic system burns through calories a lot quicker and that is where the weight loss aspect of the system comes into play. If you were walking or jogging you would have to go a long way in order to lose the same amount of calories from your system that you can lose through the performance of a good heavy weight lifting workout. And once you have completed the workout, the muscles you gain will continue to burn fat for you because your metabolism will be maintained in high form through successive workouts that you complete. Overall, the theory behind the system is quite sound. Another good thing about ChaLEAN Extreme is that it comes with a lot of support. Not only do you get a wealth of information on the actual three phases of the circuit workout that forms the core of your weight loss training, but you also get a lot of information about how to diet in a way that will contribute to your weight loss success rather than hinder it. The customer support line on ChaLEAN Extreme is also quite impressive, allowing you to get a lot of information about the product before you actually have to order it. We also recommend using our weigh loss and fitness forum for support. The Bad Things about ChaLEAN Extreme There are not that many bad things that can be said about ChaLEAN Extreme. Perhaps the most obvious one will occur to you once you have had the time to browse through the website for a few minutes. It all seems good and as previously mentioned the theory behind the workout is sound, but at the same time the website reads more like a marketing website than a health website. The testimonials seem overeager and while that can certainly be evidence of a product that works extremely well, it can also be the sign of internet marketing at its most convincing. People that have tried other online weight loss programs only to see them fall short of achieving the results promised on the main page of the website will recognize the tone on this website and that in turn might lead to them having second thoughts about actually making the purchase. This is really more cosmetic than substantive however and should not form the basis for you rejecting ChaLEAN Extreme should you choose to do so. Another disadvantage of this product is that it involves lifting heavy weights pretty much right off the bat. Heavy weight lifting is the hardest weight loss activity to do well because the line between creating tension for muscle building purposes and hurting yourself physically is a very fine one. Even with the best instructions it is possible to mess up. There is nothing that can be done with this disadvantage however as it is inherent to the nature of the workout type advertised. Be sure to acknowledge at the same time that the extra effort comes with extra reward before you reject this one outright. ChaLEAN Extreme Results and Conclusion ChaLEAN Extreme has not been out on the market very long, but already there are some positive results coming in about the product. People that were highly suspicious about the idea of weight training have now become its biggest proponents as they have slowly seen what the system has done for them. Any product that has the ability to take a completely pessimistic person and turn them into an avid believer has to be good and the fact that ChaLEAN Extreme has done this multiple times over in such a short time means that it is most definitely one of the more special weight loss products currently available in the online weight loss market. Weight loss is ultimately a result-based industry. At the end of the day, nothing else matters. You can have a product that looks bad and is sold bad but as long as it works, nobody will really care. On the other hand, you can have a product like ChaLEAN Extreme that looks good and is sold with full customer support that also works and once again it is likely that few people will really care. The bottom line is that ChaLEAN Extreme works and it works well as long as you follow the instructions to the letter. Everything else is just window dressing. It is attractive window dressing to be sure, but in the end it is just icing on the cake of success that is the ChaLEAN Extreme Fitness System.

, on 27-05-2009 01:31 Ok, I'm on phase 3 of this workout program and all I can say is I love it!!!! I love Chalene Johnson and I did her Turbo Jam workout for quite some time before switching over to Chalean Extreme (however I still Turbo it up a bit when I feel like an awesome cardio workout!!!). For all you people who haven't been seeing results in the first few weeks...relax and keep going. I didn't see too many results in the fisrt or second pahse wither (except for the getting stronger part). But now that I am in the second week of the thrid phase, I am starting to see results!!!! I've lost 7 lbs in the past two weeks and about 8 inches over all. I am seeing the muscles in my arms start to be defined and my abs muscles are starting to show. I'm super exicted for the 3rd and 4th week. So if you are discouraged right now, don't be. Take a deep breath, suck it up and keep going. YOU WILL SEE RESULTS!!!! |

, on 24-05-2009 12:24 I was told about this workout from a friend...I mentioned that I was going to try P90X. She suggested this because it is for women. I saw one review stating that she did not like this because it was "cheerleader like". I never saw a commerical or anything...is it dancey-girly? I hate when I get a new program and they swear it isn't dancey and it is! Should I just stay with P90X? |

, on 21-05-2009 18:41 I'm in the Burn Phase week three. I've done the turbo jam workouts and really like them but sometimes I don't want to get so hyper. I decided to try her Get on the Ball workouts at the beginning of April and really took my diet more serious. I lost 10lbs by months end. I decided to get the Chalean Extreme and I'm on week three and I've lost an additional 4lbs even though I have been very bad and had alcoholic drinks almost weekly and have eaten out a couple times. I love the challenge, her engery and motivation. She makes me want to do that last rep. My body is seriously looking good. I was sore for the first week and well into my second but then just feel great. Good luck I highly recommend. |
4. Written by kenny, on 12-05-2009 14:03 Trista, It depends on your experience. I would get the bands if you are just a beginner. If you've worked out a lot before then get a few sets of light dumbbells. It's all about progress. |

, on 12-05-2009 13:22 Ok, I saw the late night infomercial and was intrigued. I think the system is pretty self-explanatory except for the weight amounts. Obviously, buying several sets of dumbbells or the bowflex weights are an added expense not included. How many sets of weights will I need? In what amounts? I noticed Beachbody offers a deluxe upgrade with resistance bands. Has anybody uses these? Are the bands as effective as free weights? Which will get better results: bands or real weights? |

, on 14-04-2009 14:13 I am in the Push Phase and have already lost five pounds and I feel amazing. People have noticed the change. I've done Turbo Jam for years but the Chalene Extreme weight and strength training has really made the difference. I can't wait til the 90 days is complete to see how much I will have changed by then! I'm much stronger. I gained a bit of weight at first, but then I really watched my portion control. The only thing that bothers me about the tapes is listening to Skip's non-stop sighing and random commenting. |

, on 14-04-2009 13:32 the first 30 days you follow this weekly schedule: 1. Burn Circuit 1 ( less than 40 minutes Strength Training - I usually add 20 - 30 minutes cardio after) 2. Rest ( i usually do cardio and an ab workout here) 3. Burn Circuit 2 (different workout but same structure as day 1) 4. Burn Intervals and Ab Burner (VERY light weights used with lots of reps for "muscle endurance" and the ab workout is adequate, about 60 minutes total) 5. Burn Circuit 3 (different workout, but structure same as day 1 and 2) 6. Burn it off and Recharge (Burn it off is about 30 minutes of cardio/strength, no weights needed. Recharge is a stretching workout, but I'm thinking of switching it up with a yoga DVD that I like. 7. Rest (Again, I do light Cardio and an ab workout on rest days) You repeat this 7 day circuit for 4 weeks and then you go the other phases, but they follow the same pattern. Two more phases, 4 weeks each, same 7 days pattern. Hope this helps! |

, on 13-04-2009 08:57 I been using the program for 6 weeks now and it dose work but I find Chalean to be very annoying. She is too much of a high school cheerleader type for me. I also use turbo Jam and enjoy it a lot. A fitness program that I am currently excited about is the Lean Body program by Bogumil Gizewski. www.leanbodyiq.com |

, on 12-04-2009 19:38 I've used ChaLean Extreme, following the workout schedule and using the recommended diet, for two weeks. Although I've only lost 1.5 lbs., my body fat is down 3%! Being over 50 has brought it's challenges, but I love this program and am seeing results. It's not just weight-loss, but fat loss -- I am seeing my clothes getting loose. It is just a matter of time when the scale will drop as well. |

, on 12-04-2009 11:37 nformation about me: 28, 5'4, 180, really sore knees and bad lower back First let me say that this workout is squat and lunge intensive, but chances are you have bad knees because either an injury or you are carrying too much weight. Mine is a combo, my knees started getting sore so I didn't work out as hard so I put on more weight and then my knees became WORSE. Yet, Chaleane keeps reminding you about proper form and if you do the exercises with proper form you'll feel the burn in your thighs and butt and NOT pain in your knees! Don't confuse the two!!! :o) I gained about 20 pounds over the past 18 months. Prior to that I was working with P90X and loved the variety and challenge, I was in better shape. The past 18 months I had a pulled hamstring, bad break up, and started a new career, so I was emotionally eating and losing muscle. I tried to get back into P90X but it was too difficult because of the length of the workouts and the exercises were too challenging, I could tell I wasn't as strong as I used to be so I was VERY discouraged. I started researching ChaLEAN Extreme and found that the actual workouts were shorter than P90X. That was very appealing so I purchased and eagerly awaited the arrival. My review: I LOVE these workouts. I love to lift weights and I love to feel strong. I'm keeping track of my progress in a separate spiral, they really don't give you a sufficient training guide to track on your own. I love that the workouts are about 9 exercises each and less than 45 minutes for weight training. There are 2 workouts (out of the 5 a week) where you will need about an hour to complete and more cardio ability. I haven't weighed myself yet because I haven't been following a strict eating plan, I'm just trying to ADD more fruits and vegetables and SUBTRACT alcohol and fried foods. I hope this review helps or gives some guidance. I know that I was looking for advice when I was contemplating my purchase and I'm very happy. I understand there isn't a magic pill it just takes finding something you really like and the time and desire to do it. GOOD LUCK!!! null |

, on 12-04-2009 10:23 Ok, I've been following the workout schedule EXACTLY (except for 1 day) for almost 3 weeks. Am also adding extra cardio 1 or 2 days a week. I've seen SOME (very little ) "tightening" but no weight loss - help????!!! I LOVE the workouts - the time flies and I feel great about how strong I am. But I'm starting to get way too frustrated!!! Thoughts? Advice? I just bout selectech weights about 10 days ago so just start going up to about 15/17 pounds max... |
16. ChaLEAN Extreme worth it? Written by gman, on 11-04-2009 18:32 Phoebe, ChaLEAN will definitely work as long as you stick to their schedule. The beachbody products in general are all very successful. Perhaps you'd be happier with slim in 6 (review on this site) or turbo jam. ChaLEAN is a lot of heavier weights, is that what you want? |

, on 11-04-2009 08:55 Hi, I need some honest advice. I just watched the infomercial, but like all the other infomercials...it's very convincing!! I've purchased items from infomercials in the past and I was disappointed. I need to loose weight as well as tone and right now, the gym is just way too expensive. Is this a good program? Will it work or is it another gimmick? |
18. ChaLEAN definitely EXTREME! Written by sculpted muscles, on 07-04-2009 13:46 Beach body has done an awesome job with the packaging of this product. The dvds are enclosed in a four fold folder. It is only card board, but it is still very well done. With fourteen actual workouts along with a serious kick butt motivational dvd and band basics/kitchen makeover dvd. beachbody counts one of those as dvd #15 which is unfair because its not actually a workout. Chalene is very encouraging and offers lots of advice, motivation and tips throughout the workout. She has a different mood when compared to her turbo jam workouts. It is all about being serious and get to business in this fitness series. There are 2 books (yes actual books) that come with the system. The first book is about nutrition and has lots of recipes for you to try. She talks about adjusting your food/caloric intake with each phase in order to fuel your body the right way. The 2nd book talks about the system. You use this to track and follow your rotation and progress through the entire process. Also included are worksheets you can xerox or you can print them out from beachbody.com As with all beach body products, the production is professionally done. The highlight of the workouts are that they focus on completely different muscle groups using heavier weights then you are used to. The repetitions are less and the weight is heavy. The exercise moves are effective. Chalean Extreme is the most expensive system that I own and I'm not the least bit sorry I bought it. |
