Introduction to Hydroxycut Hydro is a prefix used to denote water and it is a word that is borrowed from the language of the ancient Greeks. Hydroxycut does not really utilize the power of water for anything, but does help you get rid of a lot of water weight according to the people responsible for its creation. If this is true, it means that people can lose a significant amount of weight fast with Hydroxycut while they are getting rid of their extra water weight. Whether the claim is true however is something that remains to be seen. See also all our other diet supplements that we have reviewed.

Hydroxycut Ingredients Hydroxycut ingredients include calcium, chromium, potassium and two blends known as Hydroxagen Plus and HydroxyTea, both of which are registered trademarks on the part of Hydroxycut. The former blend contains garcinia cambogia rind extract, gymnema sylvestre leaf extract, phosphatidylserine-enriched soy lecithin and rhodiola rosea root extract. The latter blend contains green tea leaf extract , anhydrous (without water) caffeine; white tea leaf extract , oolong tea extract , ginger root extract, raspberry ketone and quercetin dehydrate. Why Take Hydroxycut? One of the great things about Hydroxycut is the fact that it is loaded with so many power ingredients in the weight loss field. HydroxyTea in particular has quite a bit going for it as ingredients such as green tea, white tea and oolong tea have all been shown through scientific studies to have some excellent weight loss powers. In fact, the anhydrous caffeine has also known to do this because of its ability to stimulate both the mind and the body and with those four ingredients together in the same treatment, there is definitely some serious weight loss potential there if you are looking at it in terms of reputation. Hydroxycut comes with a fair amount of backing. For example, many studies have been done on individuals going through the process of diet, exercise and Hydroxycut for eight weeks and when their results were compared to results from people that went through a process of diet, exercise and placebo instead of taking Hydroxycut, the end results were quite a bit in favor of Hydroxycut. The results showed that people on Hydroxycut ended up losing between 3 and 5 times as much weight during those eight weeks as people on the placebo and for that reason Hydroxycut has proudly been portraying these results at every opportunity, touting them as absolute proof that their product works just as well as they claim. Any Reason Not To Take Hydroxycut? Hydroxycut definitely has quite a few high powered ingredients, but there is a problem that some of those ingredients might not be around in particularly large amounts. Both the Hydroxagen Plus and the HydroxyTea mixtures are proprietary blends and for that reason it is impossible to know how much of the constituent ingredients each pill happens to have. Hydroxagen Plus weighs 1.32 g collectively while HydroxyTea weighs 473 mg collectively. For HydroxyTea, it is actually mathematically impossible with that particular weight for all of the teas and the caffeine to be present in the amounts that would be required for weight loss to kick in and for that reason even though Hydroxycut has some good ingredients, caution is still required as their plans may not be as bulletproof as they claim. Hydroxycut is backed by results via testimonials and studies, of that there can be no contention. That having been said however, there were studies done that also showed a lack of statistical significance regarding the results from Hydroxycut and at the same time it can also be argued that those studies were slightly more scientific in nature than the ones that showed the 3 to 5 times weight loss increase. These studies are in the minority, but any responsible reviewer would need to take them into account as a potential con showing that Hydroxycut might not work for anyone. Based on all of the studies, the most accurate and guarded statement to be made is that those that Hydroxycut works for will experience huge weight loss successes while those that it does not work for will be quite disappointed at the results that they get. The trick is in knowing who will fall into which category, but unfortunately the studies do not help much in making that particular determination. Finally, one last problem with Hydroxycut worth mentioning is that it relies quite heavily on diet and exercise to be successful. The creators of the product are quite careful to make sure that it is made quite clear to the purchaser that their product will not work at its optimal level unless it is combined with both diet and exercise and even when that happens that results will vary. Essentially, what they are saying is that Hydroxycut will magnify results that people obtain through regular exercise regimens. If the multiplicative effect is the appropriate way of looking at Hydroxycut, the end result is that zero gains from diet and exercise will also mean zero gains from Hydroxycut. At the end of the day, that can hardly be a satisfying answer for most people. Final Thoughts on Hydroxycut When all of the facts regarding Hydroxycut are considered, there is really just one simple conclusion that must be reached. Hydroxycut treats each person as if they were part of one of two groups. The first group of people are those that have the resolve to diet and exercise on their own. For these people, Hydroxycut is a fantastic product because it seemingly has the ability to magnify results and for that reason you might be able to use Hydroxycut to lose 20 lbs over a period of time when you might have otherwise lost just 10 lbs. The second group of people however are people that do not have the ability to diet and exercise regularly and are people that are looking for a heavy duty weight loss supplement to help them get started. For these people, Hydroxycut is not a good option because it does not have the ability to perform well on its own.

2. It works! Written by Ryan, on 03-01-2010 21:54 I took two bottles of this stuff last year during track and I lost between 20 and 30 pounds. Mind you that is when I was dieting heavy and working out just about every day too. This year i started to take it but I was not working at at all and I was only on a small diet and I only managed to lose between 2 and 5 pounds with the same amount of pills. This just goes to show you that these pills really are just a fat burning multiplier. If you are going to put alot of work into losing wight, this product will give that hard work a large boost, if you do not put any work into it it will have nothing to multple on and you will have just wasted 5 bucks. Also the FDA did recall the pills, but they are now back on the market which tells me that they have fixed the problem. Also the amount of people who got sick was about 40 in millions that use this product. You have a better chance of getting struck by lighting or bitten by a shark than you do of getting sick (let along dieing) from this product. |

, on 08-10-2009 10:21 I used to take Hydroxycut until it was recalled and it was revealed that it could destroy your liver. For the last 2 weeks, i've been taking Zooburn and Fatflush and the results are pretty impressive. Combined with a pretty simple workout program, i've lost 12 pounds and have had a sustainable increase in energy without feeling nauseous the way that Hardcore used to leave me feeling. |

, on 02-05-2009 16:17 FDA Warns Consumers to Stop Using Hydroxycut Products Dietary Supplements Linked to One Death; Pose Risk of Liver Injury The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers to immediately stop using Hydroxycut products by Iovate Health Sciences Inc., of Oakville, Ontario and distributed by Iovate Health Sciences USA Inc. of Blasdell, N.Y. Some Hydroxycut products are associated with a number of serious liver injuries. Iovate has agreed to recall Hydroxycut products from the market. The FDA has received 23 reports of serious health problems ranging from jaundice and elevated liver enzymes, an indicator of potential liver injury, to liver damage requiring liver transplant. One death due to liver failure has been reported to the FDA. Other health problems reported include seizures; cardiovascular disorders; and rhabdomyolysis, a type of muscle damage that can lead to other serious health problems such as kidney failure. Liver injury, although rare, was reported by patients at the doses of Hydroxycut recommended on the bottle. Symptoms of liver injury include jaundice (yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes) and brown urine. Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, light-colored stools, excessive fatigue, weakness, stomach or abdominal pain, itching, and loss of appetite. “The FDA urges consumers to discontinue use of Hydroxycut products in order to avoid any undue risk. Adverse events are rare, but exist. Consumers should consult a physician or other health care professional if they are experiencing symptoms possibly associated with these products,” said Linda Katz, M.D., interim chief medical officer of the FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition. Hydroxycut products are dietary supplements that are marketed for weight-loss, as fat burners, as energy-enhancers, as low carb diet aids, and for water loss under the Iovate and MuscleTech brand names. Hydroxycut Cleanse and Hoodia products are not affected by the recall. Consumers who have any of the products involved in the recall are advised to stop using them and to return them to the place of purchase. The agency has not yet determined which ingredients, dosages, or other health-related factors may be associated with risks related to these Hydroxycut products. The products contain a variety of ingredients and herbal extracts. Health care professionals and consumers are encouraged to report serious adverse events (side effects) or product quality problems with the use of these products to the FDA's MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program online, by regular mail, fax or phone. –Online: www.fda.gov/MedWatch/report.htm –Regular Mail: Use FDA postage paid form 3500 found at: www.fda.gov/MedWatch/getforms.htm and mail to MedWatch, 5600 Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD 20852-9787 –Fax: 800-FDA-0178 –Phone: 800-FDA-1088 The FDA continues to investigate the potential relationship between Hydroxycut dietary supplements and liver injury or other potentially serious side effects. source: http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/2009/NEW02006.html nullHaydroxycut |

, on 24-03-2009 21:55 I have used Hydroxycut and I must say that I did have a lot more energy and did not feel as hungry as I usually did during the day. This helped me to lose 10 pounds... BUT I gained it back after I stopped using it (Which is why I'm now trying P90X). |
